In this week’s news we cover the tragic death of a man in Playa Blanca, buggies & quads being banned in Tias, summer beach events coming to Puerto del Carmen, medals for wines and much more. #lanzarote #news
Hi Mike. I’ve been coming to the island for 33 years. I was a child with my parents then. Now I still return at least twice a year with my parents but with my husband and daughter too. I should have subscribed a long time ago but have now! Keep up your great work.
Hi Mike, used to come to playa Blanca every year up till covid, is it still as friendly to visitors as always was, just with all the news on demonstrations am a bit worried, ty Barbara
Will be coming to Lanzarote for the first time in September recommended by my sister who has been a regular visitor over the years and so looking forward to it 😎
Thank you, Mike, for your fantastic weekly updates. What is the address for the library you mentioned, and approximately where is it ? Looking forward to coming back in October to stay at the newly renovated Hipotel La Geria .
Quads and buggies? My first trip to Lanzarote was in 1991 (and I’ve been a lot of times since and we had a house built here and moved here from Germany a few years ago). As far as I remember no quads and buggies. Thank God, well done Tías. If people want this kind of thing, they’re welcome to go to the Sahara. Lots of space there and very few people to annoy. I hope the other ayunamientos follow suite and ban these things. I think César Manrique would turn in his grave if he knew about this. Lanzarote is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and quads and buggies are the last things we need/want.
The first quad company was run by a German guy called Dieter. He started in the late 80’s, and was still going when we moved here in the late 90’s. He was based at Los Pocillos and the business was called Megafun.
Hi. Mike love the regular up dates. We will be with you again in September .just wondering can I get Irish radio stations there. And if so what wave length’s should I search for. O I definitely will try the yiaza wines cheers
That is so very sad about the death of the young man😢 Do you know anything about the outcome, of the young woman that was driving, when a baby was sadly killed, and X2 pedestrians injured, it happened while we were holidaying there. We find the information that you give, very very helpful, and so look forward to the weekly information, as we love Lanzarote our favourite canary island, thank you 👍😎
Hi Mike, we've been regular visitors since 2008 and always stay in Playa Blanca. We've never really done Arricife, where is the best place to park to get the most out of the day there?
Hi Mike , good vlog as ever . Are there still any ongoing rumbles about too many tourists on the island? Im coming in September , cant wait . Best wishes Graham
Hi Mike, the swim to La Graciosa I would imagine is not for the faint hearted and you would have to be an experienced open water swimmer. How long is it 2 miles? Sounds like a great event and I love La Graciosa but maybe I will spectate.
A couple of reasons: 1/ They’re waiting for final rectification work to be done on some issues with the pool and air conditioning system. 2/ They are still working through the tender process for a management company to run it.
Coming out at Xmas and would be interested in what would be a nice white wine from Lanzarote to buy a couple of bottles of to enjoy at the apartment with some cheese olives etc. Maybe something you would choose .Not too dry and of a reasonable price.
The chances of them being asked for one are extremely low. I think the only circumstance an immigration officer would ask for one, is if they suspect the people involved are trying to move here. Assuming they have return tickets, know your address and have an email, for example, from you saying “We’re looking forward to seeing you here on 12th to 18th September....” I’m sure they will be fine.
