Agree 100% with your comments about drunk behaviour. What's wrong with people? Holidays are supposed to be a time to relax and forget life's stresses. We come over from Scotland a couple of times a year and luckily have not seen anything like this. Keep up the great work - I look forward to these videos in between trips.
Thank you Mike ...you are doing a great job on our favourite island...I really appreciate your insights to hear such small but very interesting things... like the parking fee story...keep it up...all the best from germany
Thank you for the informative updates. I didn’t realise I have read your books as well! Subscribed and looking forward to hearing more about our favourite island. Love Lanzarote ❤
Utterly agree with your "rant" about drunken or just anti-social behaviour by persons at airports and on aircraft. There was a very outrageous incident at passport control when we arrived at Lanzarote yesterday. A young British female was attempting to que jump, when staff politely pointed out that she should wait her turn, she became so abusive that the duty police officer had to intervene. To my embarrassment and disbelief, she began shouting and swearing and the officer. Did not see how the incident was resolved but hopefully she was not allowed to enter the island. Your words and views regarding bad behaviour could not be better said. My rant over. Another very interesting and informative video, thank you. Looking forward to another lovely week here at our favourite place on Lanzarote.
Yes we were just behind the incident too. Quite why the mother was screaming about bad treatment of her daughter I don’t know. She seemed to be upset they were separated, one would have thought that was their job to stick together. Unfortunately they were let in to the country. I’m sure if I’d got right in the face of a Spanish officer as a tall man I would have been led off somewhere very dark with no refreshments. I was amazed they weren’t and can’t help but feel they didn’t learn a lesson and are now sat somewhere not only ruining someone else’s holiday but moaning that they were right.
Absolutely love your weekly new update, so interesting, and Absolutely great information, ready for our visit to the beauty that is Lanzarote x massive thank you x
I have only just discovered your channel. Very interesting and I have subscribed. It will keep us up to date between visits to our favourite holiday destination. Our next visit is a fortnight in October - it can't come soon enough!😎
Thanks for the latest video. Regarding the people involved in the incidents you reported, I agree, the penalties should be much more severe with larger fines and jail time. Perhaps a lifetime ban on returning to the island is in order. Sadly I doubt either will provide a deterrent to others doing the same unfortunately
A brilliant presentation Mike, IMHO your best yet! Loved seeing your hands adding emphasis to what you were saying and also loved the background (stone wall and two palm trees gently blowing in the breeze). I couldn’t agree more with your comments about drunken behaviour on planes - and why were the two women allowed onto the plane at all?
we were on a flight back from Lanzarote a number of years back when 2 sisters had a fight on the plane. We were over the channel and it was quite frightening actually. One of the girls was arrested when we landed.
Hi Mike - thanks for your weekly news videos I do enjoy them. I have a question - I was looking to buy some of the 5 attraction tickets for the Cesar Manrique attractions for when we come in September but cannot find them anywhere - only separate tickets for each attraction on the CACT website have they been discontinued? Thanks so much
Yes, they’ve stopped doing the multiple entry tickets, I’m afraid, so you need to get one for each of the CACT centres. Have a great time here in September, Hayley. Our favourite month of the year, weather wise.
Thanks for your videos. I enjoy watching these every Saturday. After coming back from 2 wks in Lanzarote. Can you let us know what's happening on the main dual carriageway from the airport to Arreciffe
I did see the gates being used at the Rubicon marina last week - not sure if anybody was being charged. I did see a lot of E-scooters on the Playa Blanca, as well as bicycles ignoring the no cycling signs at the beginning of the promenade just past La Sal - wonder if they'll enforce that rule..
@@LanzaroteInformation Hi they still were allowed to stand in the line to board, go through the gate .and get on the plane been to Lanzarote every year for the last 20 so I know how long you can wait to get on the plane....my thought's many opportunities lost to stop them.
Hi Mike, thanks as always, love getting these updates. Re the parking in Marina Rubicon, which area of parking is it? The long lines of spaces as you drive in by the shopping mall, or the smaller lot next to Lani’s snack bar? And someone in a Playa Blanca group said the public toilets in Marina Rubicon, next to the Cabrera Marina office right before the cobbled area are closed off. Could you find out if they will reopen? It’s a place I stop when out on early morning runs & quite necessary! Shame on the drunks causing havoc & injury; absolutely no need for this type of behavior.
The barriers are at the roundabout at the entrance where the gas station is. So charges will apply to the car parks behind the shops, and the small ones by the marina offices and next to the slipway. I haven heard anything about the public washrooms being closed.
Hello just wondering if you can help us we rented a villa in February and it was not licensed and to add to the fact we were burgled on our first night and had £3000 stolen we have been back to Lanzarote 3 times since trying to locate the owner do you have any advice you could give us please we would be very grateful thank you
Just wondering do you know where can get a model of the canary Fly ATR as I would like to add it too my collection of Aeroplanes that I have in my collection. I already have the binter ATR Model in my collection.
My guess is that they weren’t clearly drunk at the gate, otherwise they would have been denied boarding. Perhaps they were being sensible to avoid it, but once aboard, they relaxed.
"I'm British born" Does that mean you no longer consider yourself British? I totally agree with all you say as regards drunk idiots travelling but thankfully it's a small number of idiots but as Brits are predominantly the largest number of tourists this will be noticed. Love your channel but as with some others it seems a lot of expats seem to like slagging off the UK It isn't perfect but there are worse places in the world to come from.
Interesting question. My passport is British, but I’ve spent much less than half my life living in the UK, and that was many years ago. I guess like many long term immigrants (I’m not an “Expat”) around the world, nationality becomes blurred over time. Culturally, we end up in a sort of hybrid state, taking on elements of the nationalities we spend our lives with, immersing ourselves in the news and the issues that are relevant to the country we live in, rather than the one we left behind.
I don’t agree, as I say in the video. Why stop all of us who enjoy a glass of wine at the start of our holiday, because there are a few idiots who aren’t sensible?
I agree. Whilst in an idea world, we’d all be civilised and could be trusted to drink sensibly, the reality is we can’t. If you can’t wait a few hours to get to your destination to have a drink, thats a sad state of affairs. Everyone should feel safe on an aeroplane, especially the staff.
