Exceedingly IMPRESSIVE. I've got my eye on a Sako M85 like NIB at my local FFL and it is LEFT hand which I prefer. It is a 25-06 which I've never had. He's asking $1800 for it. Problem is I also found a Sako M90 also with a wood stock in 6.5CM for $2000. I've read that the 90 "fixed" all that was wrong with the 85. What brass are you using for those handloads? That is a hold back for me on the 25-06. I can't find brass to handload. I've also considered buying that Sako and rebarreling it to 280AI. By the way, your multiple shots were all banging that upper left target edge and I watched with my mouth wide open, spellbound.
A 25.06 is a excellent long range rifle..i have a new Weatherby in 25.06..just wondering if there is a 105 gr partition bullet for 25.06..the 25.06 would also be a good sniper rifle
Ennis, Montana... of all the horrible places to live. It's almost as bad as Star Valley, Wyoming or Jackson Hole. Of course I'm in the slum town of Cody, Wyoming but I get around... been through Ennis a number of times and can't help but loving the place... I mean, despite it being horrible and all. I'm curious as to what bullet you were using with your hand loads in this video. I've been thinking about .25-06 but I want to shoot the heavy bullets, particularly the new 134gr Hornady ELD Match. The .25-06 standard twist rate is much too slow for that though as an absolute minimum recommended rate is 1-8 with 1-7 preferred. The throat length might be an issue as well. .25-06 is a great cartridge and a real long range contender with that 134gr ELD Match but I'd hate to have to buy a rifle only to turn around and rebarrel it to get what I want. A custom rifle is a boat load of money and even a precision action to build my own custom is quite spendy. There's got to be a way without robbing a bank.
Very nice. Did you make the shooting bench and target rig? I make my own bullets, there is very little difference between .257 and .264. It wasnt that long ago when a 6.5/284 was the king of the 1000 yard matches. A 25-06 is right there with it in many aspects. I can see the wind mirage via camera with your long shots, the wind explains your initial misses. Liked and subscribed.
I have a Marlin X7S in .308. i stuffed tennis balls cut in half into the hollow but stock. I glass bedded it and floated the barrel. She's sweet. Remington went bankrupt and sold Marlin to Ruger. Remington kept and cloned the X7 renamed the 783.👍
You’ve got to be related to the guy on The Cinnabar channel. Are you his dad, brother, uncle , cousin. So many similarities, voice ,mannerisms, even the same countryside.
I have the same scope on my 25-06 ruger m77 and love it, when I got it it was just a barrel I had to make everything else and send it to ruger to check the head space from my bolt. I have the varmint Reticle. I’m guessing you ammo got warm, is that why you put it under the table?
That my friend is impressive 👏 great shooting that group looked great at 1000 yards or even a whole lot less, what was the holdover and wind drift compensation at that distance and wind speed.
Excellent analysis on these three rifles. And thank you, almost all reviews tend to leave out that important part about being left handed. I had my mind set for a Marlin having owned a .22 39a for years. Now I have to rethink it.
Outstanding. Despite the misses (Which were only just misses) every shot on target was virtually hole in hole. To do that at 950 yds is bloody good shooting. Very impressive. good job
No Savage axis ii XP and Mossberg I like the Savage axis I like the idea of a cheeper rifles for cheeper ammo 🤔⁉️ I like running steel case bullets/ cases Nothing like plastic durability for the price 👍🏽
Why are you all eating tag soup when there were so many bulls to choose from ? If they can be on video, they are accessible for a kill shot. Not good to be so picky. You lost out on some good bulls. But at any rate, it seemed to be a fruitful hunt with a friend just having some trivial fun. Better luck next time.
I am going to set up a "dedicated antelope rifle", I have a few guns In the safe to choose from, but, I am leaning towards either my ruger m77 in 25-06 or my browning a bolt in 270 wsm. (I also have the sako 243, winchister model 70 in 300 wsm, 7mm 30-06 300 win mag, 300 ultra mag, or 375 Ultra Mag. (Probably a few others, but, I think the 25-06 or 270 wsm would work best). 25-06 going to work on antelope out at 700 yards???
