It was in the editing of this video that I could really appreciate the courage Stephanie had in speaking about failure. Unfortunately in this day and age, our misfortunes and missteps are out in public and archived on the internet. There are few short cuts to recovery. But I hope through all the wonderful comments you have left here, Stephanie knows that she is well loved by this community and she has so much to offer us all.
I enjoyed this video. I actually did her first king size block of the month. I enjoyed it but I couldn't continue because life took me in another direction. I am glad to see that she is moving forward. Unfortunately, setbacks are a big part of life. I really did feel her pain. I am looking forward to getting her panel quilt book because I have a lot of panels! LOL
Stephanie you are much admired and I always found your show on utube great! I'm sorry I wasn't able financially to support your work but hopefully one day☝️🩷. Keep Speaking about mental health . I would love to hear you on The Science of Happiness show! Wishing you all the best🙏💗
Thank you. It took a lot of courage for Stephanie tp share such personal info. I am so happy to see feeling better. It's alo g journey, but i hope she will come thru with flying colors.
good on you Stephanie, it's tough dealing with loss and grief, family stuff and financial issues and it's no wonder it all affects ongoing mental health challenges.
It was great to see and hear from Stephanie. Two years ago when I had rotator cuff surgery and couldn’t do anything except sit in my recliner, I discovered RU-vid and quilting channels. Two of the channels I watched were, Stephanie’s and yours, Karen. Although they weren’t my style at the time, I was very interested in seeing the fabrics and designers that Stephanie showcased. From you Karen, I learned that sometimes you have to pack up your sewing room to make room for the return of an adult child. That’s something I thought I would never have to do, but I’m doing it now. Our son lives about six hours away from us, and the small company he worked for laid off its employees after the loss of their main contract. Because he couldn’t find a job near his home, he started looking near us. He found a job here through a contract agency, and he and his small puppy will be arriving at the end of this week. So I not only need to make space for my son in a bedroom-turned-sewing-room, but my husband and I also need to puppy proof our house, which is not easy when I have my quilting supplies and machines spread throughout the house. My son will go home to see his wife on the weekends, and we’ll be puppy sitting until he feels confident that the puppy can handle a long train ride. I keep thinking that if Karen could do this, so can I.
Oh my goodness! I thought I was the only wackado who looked at bathroom tiles and saw potential quilts!🥰 Thank you so much for being your true self and sharing with us!❤️💕
Thank you Karen for allowing her the time to actually answer the questions. ❤ I’ve always loved Stephanie and I hate that she had to go thru these life experiences.
Thank you for having this video, mine depression started with closing the long arm business to care for my mother (cancer) and then my sister (cancer) lost both six months apart. Now at 80 do I want to reopen-it's up and down. Thank you for the idea and thinking about writing.
So good to see and hear from Stephanie Soebbing. I've bought WAY too much fabric from her and a member of her club for years. Thank you both and thank you both for your honesty. We dont have to be everything to everyone because we're women!
Women are their own worst enemies and some other women are our worst critics. Familial and societal expectations are also not always helpful. Sometimes there is no correct way to be, just the right way for you.
Thank you for this conversation. It is so needed. I’m thankful that Stephanie is back in business, even tho it is in a different way. May both of you continue to bless us with your creativity. God bless you both.
Thank you for sharing Stephanie’s successes and struggles. I had just found her a few months before she posted her video about giving up her business as it stood at the time. It was heartbreaking to me because so many businesses are being affected by our current economic climate. It is nice to hear, even in her difficult times she is pushing on and still doing some of the things she loves.
Such a great interview, Karen. I’ve really missed Stephanie and QAA, and it was so nice to see her. It was also good to hear about some of the ways she is coping with anxiety and depression. Good ideas for all of us. 😊 Thanks, Karen.
Thank you Karen ,Have watched Stephanie since she started video's, she helped me through most of sewing adventure. I have listened to her stories and watched Stephanie grow as a beautiful caring women .
So much heart and soul in one interview. I have watched both of your channels for the last few years since I resumed sewing during the pandemic, making masks for friends and family and donations. I have made 2 baby quilts so far and I am working on a quilt as you go t shirt quilt for my daughter. We went to lots of rock concerts while she was growing up so it is a memory blanket for us both. I appreciate your talking about mental health and I also subscribe to Mx. Domestic and have watched his journey too. I have learned a lot about quilting, sewing and acceptance of our own mental health issues and dealing with them, quilting helps. Much love to you, Stephanie and Mx. Domestic .Please keep doing what you do, so many of us need and appreciate it.
Wishing you all the best as you find healing. I’ve been dealing with mental health issues for most of my life, but severely so the past three years, and just got laid off yesterday, but one day at a time. I will be hand sewing EPP while I work out what’s next.
Karen, thank you for this interview with Stephanie. I want to say I really enjoy watching both of you lovely ladies. Stephanie, you have an amazing soul. I have enjoyed getting to know you thru being on the channel with you and Chantal. I have battled with depression for years. I am bipolar and have the manic highs and manic lows. It is a severe struggle. Thank you for sharing, the honesty is refreshing. Quilting has been a saving grace.
I just love Stephanie! I learned to quilt with her videos. I still go back to them when I don’t know how to do something. I’m so glad she is doing better. Thanks for having her on.
Thankyou for interviewing Stephanie! Great interview. I am so happy to see that she has found a way to continue to contribute and keep her passion going.
Stephanie, I first followed you when you wrote your column for the QC Times. Loved your quilt shop and your fabrics, spent a few dollars in your shop. Loved seeing your interview, your honesty is wonderful. Miss seeing you in person. Take care!
Conversations like this are so healthy and validating to share the way you do. Life happens, and challenges are inevitable. How we deal with them and manage to keep going forward can be really hard. Now I need to go look up her books. Thanks again for another great video.
Karen you are always, such a compassionate, understanding interviewer and again with Stephanie. It’s wonderful that you both have been able to maintain your creativity which so often is sacrificed when reaching out for help in dealing with life challenges to improve ones mental health. (I’m a fellow sufferer with a similar journey) It’s the small shifts in focus with better self acceptance that allows creative flow and continuity moving forward. There is no shame here! only more self empowerment, inner strength and joy which you both radiate. It inspires and spurs me on to immerse myself in each moment, soak it up and release the joy! be it quilting or playing with my dogs ! Love your online efforts immensely 👍🙏thank you🧵🪡✂️💜
i love Stephanie's books and patterns. I've made several of her patterns. Her instructions are clear and easy to follow. Her videos were especially helpful. I made one called "Ribbon Candy" and one called "Frequency". Both are beautiful quilts that I have given to people I love. Take care of yourselves and thank you, Stephanie for sharing your life, your love of quilts and your ability to teach me how to make a beautiful quilt!
