I just recently finished the anime and I’m keened on what happens next. However I can’t find a place where I can read the manga. If someone has a site where I can read it I will be so happy to finish it 🥲
As one of the many who reevaluated Berserk 1997 after seeing the Golden Age trilogy and 2016 miserable adaptation I feel the need to thank you for this video. Just a bit I'd like to add in regard to the soundtrack: "MURDER" track, the music played during the Eclipse scene, is a true deep-dive into hell. If a place we could call "hell" existed, this must definitely be the kind of stuff demons are listening to while tormenting the damned. That music is so spot-on and has been on my iPod for decades now
Maybe its just me but the hype or exaggeration of how sad and bad the ending is was WAY over hyped. The love connection seemed to come out of nowhere then only builds over like 3 episodes and then want me to believe there was this huge connection there. Then the very little hinting at demons. If i watched it on a week to week basis i wouldve completely forgot there was a demon in the very beginning. They just come outta nowhere at the end it seems.
Watched this immediately after finishing beserk 1997 and your description of how you feel after the ending is SOOO spot on. Literally can’t get it out of my head either!
Funnily enough this is the first time I've heard the proper name of "the hound of Baskerville" pretty neat reference, it's one of the Sherlock holmes stories, one that was incredibly popular and I was forced to read in high school. it was the first story after Holmes was "killed" in the last book when Doyle wanted to stop writing the character. Spoilers for a 120 year old book. It's actually about a Inheritance case where a villain uses a vicious hound painted in phosphorous to make it look demonic where someone uses it to scare and or kill his own family members so he can be the remaining heir to the families fortune. Kinda interesting how that parallels the start of hellsing and Integra's uncle Richard who tries to kill her to inherit the organization.
Ever check the lil "most played" sections on your vids? That's people skipping your long intro to get to the part where you get on topic. That is feedback you should respond to with shorter intros and less windup.
I'm so mad about the newer Berserk adaptations. When people ask me what my favorite series is, i have to say "Berserk, but not the ones you've heard of." Even among anime fans, berserk has a taint to it now. Also, shoutout to the "outtakes" from the english dub episodes i watched back in middle school. Hearing the english Goku talking so much smack about other characters and punching himself for flubbing lines is awesome.
i watched the anime without knowing absolutely anything about berserk and it was really good to me. The story and characters behaved so much different and better than other animes and the way the anime evolved from a normal medieval-type world to some crazy world with some unexplained freaks out of nowhere really took me by surprise and it was really good. I started readin the manga and i think i almost like the anime more as they did not include supernatural stuff until the end (besides Zodd showing up to spice things up and to make you think wtf? till the end of the series). I would love a sequel to this adaptation so much where they can animate how the world goes to shit after the eclipse
I feel like Berserk 97 needs to be consumed under a specific set of circumstances. With all its glaring flaws, I'm assuming there must be some way to consume it that clicks with so many people. I really loved the manga but the anime just seemed tonally odd to me. Maybe that's just the utter trash-tier theme music which really doesn't set the scene, maybe it's because anime is typically really bad (too many still shots and monologues), maybe I was too old to tune out the childish presentation, or maybe it's because I've only seen the English dub which, while not the worst dub I've heard, often has an awkward delivery common in anime which break immersion.
Funnily enough i never thought the show looked bad by any means never came to my mind about anything related to a small budget as it was made in the 90s this is what i expect it to look like. Even the X-Men the animated series doesn't even have this much details. Music was peak though best❤️🔥
I kept hearing that the 97 adaptation of berserk is good, atleast decent. But then I watched it, and I hated it. It's not even half as good as the manga. Don't get me wrong it's good on its own but it doesn't do any justice to just how great the manga is. So disappointed. If this is the best we have, I can't even imagine the 2016 one.
literally watched berserk 97 like two days ago finally and bought the first deluxe edition immediately that night bc i need to read the manga after that ending i got so invested in the characters and want to know what happens
Out of all the imagery storylines of Berserk, the one that has stayed with me since 2000 was the same scene you like the best. I think about that all the time. In order to be my equal, a man must have his own dream. Otherwise, you're just a servant.
borderline perfect show. No anime has stuck with me the same way and impacted my taste as much. it’s absolutely insane that it’s just 25 episodes but it’s absolutely perfect.
I wanted to watch berserk because it looked interesting but the whole demons-raping-your-one-true-love-while-you-watch thing was a bit too japanese for my taste.
I had to stop watching at the 2:57 mark I truly believe everyone has a right to have an opinion and certain preferances because it's always down to your personal experiences that shape what you enjoy, but saying the best adaptation is one that leaves out skullknight and donovan just shows that you don't understand what you are saying. You are just objectively wrong, because the golden age arc memorial edition, besides the fact of having those two important characters, it's exactly like the manga in terms of how it perfectly shows you the history. This is 100% nostalgia. Watch both again, side by side, ignore the black swordsman part, and don't even compare the animation or anything like that, and beside you go through the book.
It made absolutely no sense to me why Skull Knight was cut out, and that led to the horrendous ending where it just ends at the Eclipse & cuts to Guts walking out of Godo’s smiths.
