Rurouni Kenshin: Trust & Betrayal is one of Studio Deen's best works and the gold standard of an anime adaptation. In this video, I go over why Trust & Betrayal's adaptation of The Remembrance Arc outdoes it's original source material and what makes this OVA so special. As always, my opinion is subjective so if you have a different take, your opinion is totally justified.

When an anime adaptation surpasses its manga source material, it is a testament to the creative genius of the anime production team. It is not an easy feat to take a written story and turn it into a visually captivating and emotionally engaging animated series. Without reading the manga, but recently watching the anime and your video highlighting the differences that are missing or changes made when it was adapted by the production team. I would agree before even reading the manga, that this 4 episode OVA is better.

With regards to the elephant in the room, i generally feel pretty fine with watching Trust and Betrayal when compared to the manga or series. That’s primarily because most of what makes Trust and Betrayal special is the direction and creative choices added in this adaptation. It also feels like a larger culmination of the work of many rather than one controversial man, so I can more easily recommend it to people

Trust and Betrayal used a very contrasting tone from the rest of the anime. The benefit of this is showing the difference between how Kenshin was vs. how he became in the present makes the story seem more impactful, while the more diverged tone can make it feel almost like a different series. The benefit of the manga is that these events feel much more faithful, which is inevitable when it is done by the original author. But Trust and Betrayal's add-ons really only heighten the weight and show the love of the lore and arc of Kenshin by the writers, so it certainly deserves its classic reputation for a reason.

I have a question..I always heard Tokyo Ghoul was much better in manga but I never read it but I watched the anime long time ago. Would it be worth to read all of Tokyo Ghoul or not ?

100%. I personally consider Tokyo Ghoul and it's sequel :re to be one of the best magna ever written (at least out of the catalogue that I've read). The first season of TG's anime is alright, still messes with some stuff but for the most part it's okay, however, root a and their treatment of :re is potentially, in my opinion, one of the worst anime adaptations due it's extreme departure from the manga. If you ever get the chance, I would highly recommend reading it and staying away from the anime.

Weird you didn't mention the 96 anime i guess you know that first animated try was a failure including filler arcs between canon sagas 😂 and excesive censorship, the pacing kills it a lot, the OVA was great ngl i could watch it dozens of time.
