indeed what happened? it's not the country we used to know, but still the best.......thankfully we have audio and video to remember the days..well done from us guys..enjoyed..jane and brian.
Thanks for posting this. My Dad is playing harmonica in this recording. I don’t even have the Nectar album anymore, so it’s great to hear this track again!
@@hayleylouise7832 Oh ?!! I thought it was Paul Price Smith (who also played keys with Southside) I do remember your Dad playing with them as well though . . . Best wishes for 2021 !
Good job, Gary. It's great to see you are still making music. I added it to my "Friends" playlist. It's been slow going getting the links from my previous youtube account over to this new account. My new account is really all about me and all aspects of my life. Not just music. Thank you for sharing your composition!
I was stationed at RAF Wethersfield from 86 to 88. Was privileged to have seen Southside, and sometimes it was just Den and Dave, at The Red Lion in Finchingfield on several occasions. When I learned of his passing, I put Samba pa ti on and cried like a baby. No cell phones or digital cameras back then, so I can only do my best to cling to the fading memories of cold, rainy nights in a smokey little pub, three thousand miles from home, standing three feet away from one of the most versatile and amazing performers I have ever seen. He was pissed as a rat, as my dear British friends would say, tearing off insane versions of Santana, Elton John, Beatles, Eagles, etc. f anyone has any recordings of those types of events, I would love to see or hear them. Thanks for keeping his music alive.
Those were the daze . . . Den was amazing - he knew so many songs word perfect . . . He was a good friend & things have not been the same these last 15 years, since his departure . . .
@Gary Twitchett - I was very familiar with The Dog in Wethersfield, so I may well have run into you there ! I used to put music on in a couple of pubs in Suffolk & Southside always went down well. I spent many an hour in various pubs around Essex, Suffolk & Cambridgeshire trying to get gigs with Den - So I knew him pretty well . One of the biggest compliments I ever heard about his singing was from Chris Farlowe's ex. (she had never seen Den sing live before) She said that Den was definitely on a par or maybe a better singer than Chris . . . I have a copy of the album 'Nectar' somewhere that Tommy Dunn (Southside guitarist) burned to disc for me - I must delve deep & see if I can find it, because it's taken from the master & it's excellent quality . . .
Wow, another goodie, deffo Beatles in there, reminded me of a cross of early "Idle Race"/Move, "Message from The Country" album, all round good songwritting, i like it, thumbs up from me Gary n Co.
Hi Gary, yes mate getting there,i have a cupple of cds packed up n ready to go for you for ages now, i`ll try n get them off this week, just can`t to seem to get a routine going down here, but yes, alls good, hope everything going ok with you.
Gary Twitchett hi Gary, you don’t know me but I am the nephew of Andy Steel, in St Ives Cambs. He was telling me how he’s lost contact with you and would love to touch base again. Please contact me here or email ( s17jer@gmail.com ) and I will try and get you two back together.
Hi Gary its Paul, im impressed mate, both with the song and vid, very melodic, strings etc, & lyrically spot on, im with you on that one, i like the way it starts with just the Ukulele/voice, and then all comes in together nicely at 1=45, excellent.,like the added crackle at the beginning, ha ha good stuff.oh and great harmonies.
Cheers. It's really hard to find Dennis D'ell stuff now. Did any of these Honeycombs reforms (with Denny's vocals), get recorded? Seems next to zero live Honeycombs stuff.
That'd be wonderful Gary if ever you could find time, I'd really love to hear a sample, cheers! I'm also hunting for Denny's 1967 "Woman called sorrow/ Night has 1000 eyes" (Decca F 12647) but the only seller atm wants £50. Is that the going rate!? I only really want to buy the music not the 'artefact.' If anyone ever hears of a rarities compilation with it on, pls contact me (even if it's years after this post!)
