Hi Lance ! Thank you fot this impeccacle tuto. It was not easy but I succeeded in installing Monterey on a SSD Sata drive in my Mac Pro 5,1 2009 (Radeon RX580), keeping Mojave on another SSD Sata. I met some problems but in the end everyting runs smoothly, with bootscreen (cherry on the cake). So a very big thanks to you !!! My questions is : I had a unused 240 GB SSD drive and used it to install Monterey, not knowing if I would succeed. Now that I see it works, could I install it on a larger SSD, like 1 ou 2 TB, but without the hassle to do all the process, like using carbon copy cloner to make an exact copy of my 240GB SSD on a bigger one ? Or do I have to start from scratch ? Subsidiary question : would it be better to intall a PCI card to use an NVME SSD disk and install my Monterey boot disk on this kind of stuff ? Thank you anyway, answer appreciated. Greetings from France :-)
if you install Monterey again to a new drive you will have to do the two Config.plist edits gain before installing to a new drive or NVMe. You can then use Apple's migration tool to clone your data to the new system drive because you can no longer clone Apple OS only the data. Don't install OC on a NVMe it can be on any drive does not have to be the system, its better off in one of the sata bay drives. if you have installed on the 240gig you can leave it there. Once the new system is created and you transfered your data and all is good you can wipe the old system drive of take it out for backup, but you will have to move opencore to a new place if you remove that drive. reformatting it will not erase the opencore install as the efi does not get erased as long as you just do a quick reformat.
Great video. checked multiple times, couldn't find a way to scan/locate the conf.plist file. Could you guide me through that a little bit? I have the same issue with bluetooth. Thanks
@@tonywangcn you have to use open core configurator, and in the app you use it to first mount your EFI and then you do a scan after the scan you look at the kext files maybe I’ll make a quick video on how to do this. You just have to fish around in the app a little bit but I was able to figure it out.
This is an urgent call for help! A few days ago I purchased a used Mac Pro 4.1 (late 2009) upgraded to 5.1 (2x 3.46 Xeon5, 64 GB 1333 RAM). I use Ableton live 10, I noticed that the performance is not good, it only uses 8 GB of RAM and the CPU usage indicator in Ableton goes above 100%. How it's possible? High Sierra OS installed. What would you recommend for maximum performance? Do I need to install mojave/monterey operating system with open core? Change daw and work with Avid Pro Tools or Logic Pro? Thanks for your attention, sorry for my bad English!
That is strange that it goes up to 100% usage sounds like a software bug. I would think you need to update the OS and the version of Albeton but first I would check what plug-ins you’re using. It could be a certain plug-in. That’s pushing it up and over and maybe it needs to be updated. Also check your buffer playback if you’re at a low buffer setting like 64 or 32 that will really tax the CPU.
@@MacSoundSolutions Acustica Audio/Fab Filter/Brainworx & Waves plugin in AU/VST2 format, when mixing I set the buffer size to 2048 samples. Maybe i need to upgrade the OS with open core and Ableton (or switch to another daw) to get the full power of the Mac Pro?
Ok you asked for it ! 4 x 1TB SSD’s in the trays, 2 x 1TB SSD’s on a PCIe card , 2 x 1TB SSD’s in the CD ROM SATA ports, 1 x 1TB NVMe on PCIe card . 2 x SSD’s in CD ROM Bays RAID 1 Mirror with Hyper - V 2019 rest of the drives Microsoft Storage Spaces to Run VM’s I have 64GB RAM, I will add what I forgot in future post. I have 2x CPU’s. 2 Mac pros 5,1 set up the same to replicate the VM’s. I will post My Mac OS set ups I learned a lot from you thanx pls send me WiFi & BT as I am your longest & best viewer &. I’m broke . I am down to 6 Mac Pros 5,1’s now I sold the rest and my 1,1’s & 3,1’s
The solution is to turn off fire wall or remove Eset or little snitch for some but not for me, this video was to see who else is having the issue and to make folks aware of it before they decide to upgrade to Sequoia, many are as you can see in the comments have the problem, I give a ton of free info on my channel, was looking for the answer after three days of searching and hoping folks would get help from posts here. If you look at my pinned comment it lists some fixes that might work.
How long does it take? I'm really worried. Can I make sure each video uses the Studio Mics as well or is this even more time consuming? I have hundreds of cinematics on iPhone 16 Pro in 4K.
You might be better off importing the videos with Finalcut pro if you have that many not sure if they need to be processed first will have to try one as it’s been a while or the image capture app instead of the photos app. It takes a long time to process them so try one on the phone and have the phone charging at the same time, try it when you go to sleep at night.
@@mndkind Yes very odd as I have not installed ESET and did a clean install and Safari still does not work I think my router or Verizon Fios may have a conflict with the new OS as Firefox works fine, but I cannot get Safari to work. thanks for the reply.
No you can’t run Mojave on a Mac Pro 7,1 as Catalina was the OS that shipped and is 64bit, Mojave is 32bit it might work via a Virtual machine not sure. Why not pickup a Mac Pro 5,1 or 6,1 and dedicate it for Mojave.
@@MacSoundSolutions hi Lance I have a Mac Pro 5.1 need to move to 7,1 what I will do is move to Monterey will open core work on a 7,1 to boot into thanks
✅ One of the many Solution : Uninstall Cloudflare's WRAP client , So After banging head for a 2 weeks , I saw I have Wrap client of Cloudflare DNS installed before updating to 15.0 and when removed it just started to work fine for me
See exactly that. I do mainly audio stuff. Only a bit of video editing using Regular HD. 2019 Macpro UK is about £3k I'm tempted, just to get 96GB ram in there.
And how to inform Open Core Legacy Patcher developers that now the cost of used 32GB DDR 3 (10600R) memory modules for servers is low? You can buy one module for $20 - and that's great for MP5.1 upgrade !))) What is missing in the Open Core Legacy Patcher settings now is an option - use 1 - 8 32 gigabyte RAM modules (10600R/or other compatible), and instructions on which slots to install the RAM modules in, depending on the number of modules, and depending on the number of slots.
Just did a clean install to my 6,1 but still have problems, have not figured it out yet. It's odd how some folks have no issue and plenty of others due, could have to be a conflict with internet service / router / and the OS combo. Sonoma worked fine on all my Macs. Might have to roll back till Apple fixes it.
For me its just Safari related, the website will become completely unresponsive and nothing improves even after a page refresh. I have to just close that tab and open a new one and then it runs fine. Running Sequoia 15.0 on a Macbook Pro 2018
I was having the same issue with my MB M1 pro, just deleted the VPN from network section under settings and it started working. Settings >> Network >> Delete VPN configuration, if any. Enjoy :) Hope this helps.
this was released on Little Snitch's blog: Apple’s built-in App Firewall blocks DNS lookups and Firefox This bug is not related to Little Snitch, but since it’s a firewall topic, we include it here. If you have configured Apple’s firewall to block incoming connections, it blocks all incoming UDP packets, even if they are responses to requests, e.g. responses to DNS name lookups. macOS performs name lookups in different ways, depending on the programming interface used by the process. Safari and Chrome will still work when blocking incoming connections, but Firefox will not. On Sequoia 15.0, we recommend that you disable Apple’s firewall until the problem is fixed.
my firewalls are disabled, funny how they say firefox doesn't work, it works for me just fine, its safari that is the issue for me. As long as I don't launch Safari, firefox works.
I have yet to find the fix, firefox works fine, safari doesnt, have not tried chrome yet. Might be a router / safari issue, folks show delete ESET or Little Snitch seems to get Safari working, I don't have either installed. I turned off my routers firewall for a bit and safari started working and then crapped out again. It's 5 days of messing with this, yet lots of folks don't have the issue it seems.
@@MacSoundSolutions i don't have eset, but do have little snitch. uninstalling did work until i rebooted. so far, turning off the firewall seems to be working, but not sold yet. this is a mess.
@@victoriafrench Oddly I can use the firewall with Firefox, but turning it off did not fix the Safari issue and I have even tried installing the latest Beta 15,1 which made no difference. Thanks for your comments. If I figure it out I will post a new video.
Hey there you still happy with your Mac Pro? I'm also thinking about buying one. I currently use an MBP 16’ M1 Max and love it. But: When I come home, I just want to sit down at the desk and turn up the PC without having to plug anything in. That sounds totally stupid, but somehow it grounds me :D I also want to decide against a mac studio because, like you, I'm also a tinker and really enjoy it.
@@ridgero I love it, just upgraded from Monterey to Sonoma, staying away from Sequoia for now as it’s my main work computer. It will not do new ai and some other M chip only stuff but it’s a great machine and runs windows 11 great. I’m sure I’ll use it for many rears and through in the future 28 core cpu when they get cheap enough. I have a MacBook Air M2 and it can pickup the slack on things the Mac Pro can’t do.
@@jorgealbertocardenaspestan612 I don’t have ESET installed, nor do I have the option for network filters. Only if I go to firewall turn it on and look at options then I have a list of removable items.
I don't see Network filters in the system prefs / network as an option? Is that part of firewall settings? Does firewall have to be turned on to see the filters, I would make a video showing how to resolve this, but I can't fix it so far and I do not have any third party firewalls installed to begin with. Everyone talks about network filters but I don't see any...
i have found the solution, try to connect your PC to the internet using ethernet, then after go back to the opencore patcher and click on post-install root patcher and let it run all the patches that are missing, after that it will reboot and boom the wifi and other options are back to working.
apple logo on left side + system settings + network + here you see wifi , firewall, and other services. You should not have filters option here , if there is then you should deactive and then click on '' - '' minus sign and remove all filters. It works for me but I am still having wifi connection lost problems...
I have an issue I never experinced before, I found out that when I close or open something [game, browser], I find that the gpu and mem on msi after burner reach the maximum for 2 seconds then back to normal, l capped my fps through Nvidia control panel to 40 fps cause the monitor is 60hz refresh rate, and I use JSAUX DP cable, could it be the issue?
Deactivating Little Snitch (or any 3rd-party software, including ESET,) in network filtering and the firewall (despite the latter not being active) restored internet functionality.
I actually have this same cable and it gives me trouble with the screen every time.😢😢 I didn't discover the computer problem until I saw your post. 👍👍👍 Thank You So Much 🙏
None of my browsers are working for me. I updated maybe 20min ago; I was actively using it up until updating. Chrome tells me I have no internet connection, same thing in Firefox. Every other device in the house works except my Mac that just updated to Sequoia 15.0.
Success!!! after removing ESET from functioning on my Mac Pro 13" M1 Setting/ Network/Filters and after removing and restart the internet is working properly.
How do you do that, I did not install ESET is that installed by Mac OS installer? When I look at my firewall filters it’s not there and I have k ow menus that actually says Network Filters… I installed beta 15.1 but issue persists for me. Eset is something one has to install on its own is it not?
