Mr Felton, my sincere compliments for bringing History on by YT/computer to us "temporarely Mortals" . As we only are temporarely part of the present, soon be History. I have visited many (militairy) museums, but your work completes my quest on so many levels. Is it WW 1 & 2, the German Kaiser in the Netherlands, or like this, some ( copied) guns on the other side of the Globe. Your research is outstanding. Many many thanks!

Let's hope she doesn't share the fate of so many mechanical veterans of WW2. It saddens me when i think of all the equipment that was simply dumped in the sea after the war. Obviously, after 80 years we feel differently about the war that scarred, maimed and killed so many of our elders, they probably wanting to be rid of all things to do with the war. Also, there was probably no money to preserve so many museum specimens, what with all the rebuilding needed after the war.

Thorough. Interesting. Tells the story of evil incarnated. BUT... Sadly, photos are all nothing more than generic Auschwitz photos. Needed specifity of where what is being described. Rex "X's", Yellow circles. Colored arrows. Without that there's not a hell of a lot of point "listening" but not being able to visualize where.

A north korean t-34-85 was once taken out by an early design of a bazooka in ww2. I'm shocked they can still flex after their tanks were somehow destroyed by a bazooka

I'm literally 28 years old and have taken college level history courses and didn't know about this. This kind of barbarity doesn't surprise me coming from fascists, however. For any totalitarian government, there is no end to the brutality. Idolatry always leads to barbarity being done against people.

Well... Saving on sofisticate equipment on resource & development is a good argument !!! Kim have the T 34 tank but also have plenty of parts because quatity have its own quality !!! Tanks have guns although will burned up in case of a conflict but until that happened old tanks can still fire up their guns !!! Kim is aware of it but old tanks by the hundreds still can hold that's why is taking the high risk !!!

In some ways, the Japanese Imperial Army/Navy was worse than the 13th century Mongols. The Mongol doctrine was to accept the surrender of countries and then leave them alone if they agreed to pay tribute (for example, Novgorod in Russia). Genghis Khan was quite willing to employ terror, but he really wanted live subjects rather than dead ones. Only when the locals resisted were they massacred or enslaved. But the Japanese treated local people brutally whether they surrendered or not.

One thing which strikes me as very peculiar about the Japanese war in Asia is their hatred and abuse of women. Of course, some soldiers in all armies commit rape (e.g., the Red Army in eastern Europe), but the scale and methodicalness of rape in the Imperial Japanese Army was stunning. This seems to come from a hyper-masculinized contempt of women (including Japanese women). In the wartime Japanese mindset, women were inferior even to animals.

This isn’t something new, this happens in all conflicts and wars, maybe not to the extent the Japanese did..

Captain Alexander Porchevsky, is a person I admire a lot for his bravery in this hellish part of history. I especially love hearing the story about his defying one of the SS. I believe the story involved Sasha and the other prisoners getting a very tedious job done in the woods and the SS Officer tied to reward him with cigarettes and Sasha told him " I don't smoke". Apparently the SS Officer then offered him more food and his response was " The rations are just fine!!" That's true defiance against incredible odds and that same defiance def helped with the Escape. Truly, Captain Porchevsky and his Platoon being sent to Sobibor was a gift from God!!!

Rape and violence has always been a way to control and defile the women. There’s a movie that touches on this called “Paradise Road” with Glenn Close. I highly recommend it.

I am a retired Officer of Indian Army. My father in law had participated in World War 2 in far East. He told me stories, after liberation ,of finding ladies from Netherlands , who were wearing bare minimum clothes and had survived by eating rats. He had tears in his eyes when he narrated the stories of the ladies .

13:00 -What?? The greatest sexual crime in history may have been a couple of million German girls and women severely violated at the end of World War II. But now as then, we still haven't learned that standards for war crimes should apply for everyone. I just do nationalities we particularly like or are "too powerful to question." 🇺🇸 🇮🇱

Great video Mark. As a German living in the US I always thought the Japanese and particular the royal family got off easily. That is why they surrender to the US and not Russia who would have hung them all. McArthur was behind the liency due to his desire to be the all powerful viceroy and protect the royal family especially Hirohito. They would owe him. This was a wrong policy for the barbarism their soldiers practiced under the Bushido rules. Therefore many counties did not get justice and why China is anti Japanese today. Great job!

In the context of current russo ukrainian conflict, the Modren tanks like Abrams, Leopard, Challengers and T90s are as vulnerable to FPV drones, ATGMs and other tactics such as T34s because if tank technology has evolved so has anti tank technology so you can't bet that a modern tank will survive more time on a battle field than an old one.
