Looks that device supports OTG so should not be an issue. Maybe you just don't seethe cursor on it? Not all pen tablets work well with android distributions. So you may have to enable a software cursor per drawing app, but the rest of the OS apps will not show a cursor. Also since the Deco 640 does not come with a usb-a to usb-c dongle maybe the one you're using doesn't pass power and data?
No, the line starts to jump, it was getting so bad the Concepts (and Infinite Painter) app would crash. I fixed the crashing by turning off low latency mode, but the lines still jump as I am drawing. I’m not referring to the tilt effect of the brush, rather the line starts to jump forward/outward. I switched to the Wacom One pen as well same issue. The tilt support on these apps not tuned in the first place which is why you see inconsistency between the tablets. Due to how thin the S Pen, holding puts the pen almost at 50 degrees already which is where these brushes will use tilt to affect the line.
The amount of surface the nib has in contact with the screen, is important. It’s no different than drawing with a pencil worn down on one side versus a freshly sharpened pencil. It’s easier to get a “stable” line this way. The pen/pencil is less likely to change direction (thus pressure) when making a line.
@@joseph-montanez Again, absolutely nothing to do with the nib's diameter. It is an EMR pen, so in this specific case, even the nib wobble barely affects line quality. See, the barrel's movement and position is what mainly triggers the appearance of the stroke( for proof, remove the nib from the pen and bring it close to the tablet, and you'll see that there's no signal from the tablet ). And the quality of the line depends on how the hardware and the firmware translate the signal obtained from the pen's barrel. The more that translation is accurate, the better the quality of the line. Inside the barrel is a compression system with sensors which detect the compression force depending on how hard it's pressed. This compression system is what is responsible for the pen pressure and the pen's nib is the convenient way to control it. So conclusion, nib diameter barely has any influence on line quality with EMR pens. For the nib to affect line quality, it must make the barrel budge, which is not likely to happen if your pen has good built quality and is not damaged.
You’re going in a completely different direction on what I am talking about. The best way I can explain this, take a .3mm mechanical pencil, then a 5.0mm mechanical pencil and you’ll get it. Just like if you draw with a soft nib versus hard nib. Have an Apple Pencil? Go put those thin metal tips then the rubber ones. Nothing to do with the EMR pen tech, everything to do with the nib and how someone draws. That was my point, it’s my hand not the pen. The nib, surface, and pen all play a vital role in the perceived line quality.
@@joseph-montanez Soft nib vs hard nib? Doesn't really affect line quality if you're steady as you trace. The only relevant thing you can speak of with that comparison, is pen pressure. And I know that some pen have firm compression while others have a much more soft one. Is that what you're referring to?
So if you use tilt and Windows the Kamvas 12 would be the best or would the Artist 12 still be the best? I have never used tilt before but id like to use it to get a better posture since my desk isn't the largest

There is an ad supported free app I use “Noise Eraser” I use on iOS and Android by deepwave AI. The “clarity” mode is free the rest require a premium plan. Think you get 5 mins per video, 30 mins per month. It does add a watermark. What I do is just extract the audio and do audio only since it cannot watermark that, then import it into LumaFusion as the replacement track.
I want to buy a tablet. I am still a beginner and I am confused about what to buy Deco 640 or Deco mini7. What do you advise me to start with that is easy to use?
Both would be easy to use. The deco 640 has the new driver interface that’s simpler but honest these are both simple. I’d opt for size first as a beginner. The smaller pen tablets is fine for 3D sculpting and photo retouching but for sketching and line art, it’s a lot harder.
Ive heard that those screen protectors tend to mess with pen nibs a lot, you could possibly get a new pen with a metal nib? It'll wear down slower and might be able to tract better to the screen? Im not a pro but ive had some issue with my Samsung pen for my laptop b4, so I've looked at at a couple things
It’s a 16:10 aspect ratio you can use it in portrait orientation. You can use orientation lock to draw in landscape, it’s just UI will be weird to use. Since my review XP-Pen has released an Android app “XPPen tools” to let you change this orientation but does not work for android tablets I’ve tested on.
@@joseph-montanezahh I just knowing about Xp pen tools thing, that was really sad, so guees only Wacom with bluethoot connection that can do landscape mode in Android tablet
@@anraulfazekas Depends, I tried this on my Deco Pro Gen 2 and it can work but it doesn't fix the aspect ratio issue. Not true. I reviewed the Huion Insproy Frego M and it works but it can only connect via Bluetooth to Android, and limited to HiPaint only (to correctly map). I also tried the Gaomon WH851 and it worked, and worked in wired more.
@@joseph-montanez ahh so theres many models that already support landscape.. Have you tried new models Wacome one 2023??, that the new unit Im aiming to buy but still not sure about the landscape mode thing, wired n wireless Because my Intuos S BT, not doing so well, I think because the Bluetooth version quite old, so its seems always disconnects it self about every 40mnt-1 hour
Thanks for sharing! I switched my website from WordPress to Nuxt and the hosting from cPanel to Cloudflare (then to Netlify) and the difference is massive in load time and experience in general. I'v learned that PHP is not for everything so one must understand when to use.
The Deco Mini 7 is going to give you a slightly bigger area, more texture against the pen. I have the same pen for my Deco 01 v2 and it’s fine just the silicone grip became loose after a year. I feel like the Deco 640 is more for a professional that doesn’t have much space to work with, and do not need wireless support. I do prefer the pen on the Deco 640, really like how thin it is, feels like I have more space to work on since my hand can be off the the side and not feel weird from the elevation.
@@joseph-montanez Hi hi,I already get this dwco 640 perfomance and compatible such amazing with my laptop pressure is work good but the tips is still springy i dont know why
Hey Joseph cool video. Actually I have seen a similar laptop and thinking to buy it .Let me paste the specs below: Laptop: Lenovo Idea-pad 5 2-in-1 Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS Display: 14-inch (35.5 cm) WUXGA IPS panel with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels, 300 nits brightness Graphics: Integrated AMD Radeon 780M graphics Memory: 16 GB RAM Storage: 512 GB SSD Operating System: Windows 11 Home Office Suite: Microsoft Office 2021 pre-installed Keyboard: Backlit keyboard for better visibility in low light Security: Fingerprint Reader (FPR) for secure login Camera: Full HD (FHD) camera for video calls Audio: Enhanced by Alexa, the virtual assistant Gaming: Comes with a 3-month Xbox Game Pass subscription Color: Grey Weight: 1.6 kg Additional Features: Convertible design for versatility, suitable for both productivity and entertainment I am thinking to buy this laptop for casual use and gaming .But I was concerned after seeing your video cuz you are saying that benchmarks are not that reliable. Can u tell me how much fps does the laptop I pasted above gives while playing GTAV, and RDR2 and The Hunter: Call Of The Wild ? CAN YOU PLEASE REPLY SOON ?? TQ
Oh you can look at any video show casing the AMD Radeon™ 780M and you get an idea of how it will perform. I saw a few that included those games, performance would be very similar.
@@joseph-montanez Hey I have checked a video (Ryzen 7 8700G with AMD Radeon TM 780M ) and I am quite impressed how it performed in gaming. But I have a doubt cuz everywhere(BENCHMARKS) I checked I saw that my laptop can only run RDR2 at low settings(If playable). But the video I saw shows that it can run at med settings smoothly. I think I need a second opinion and can u please give that second opinion to me. Also can I know if there is much difference between Ryzen 7 8700G and Ryzen 7 8845HS (mine)? Can u please reply quickly. Thank you
The 8700G is going to be a little bit better performance but nothing more than 10% in multicore. Gaming wise you won’t notice much other than a few frames more. It’s also a 65 watt processor versus the 45 watt from the 8845HS.
@@joseph-montanez In the video the Ryzen 7 8700G is giving like 45 to 48 fps( Average fps is 43) at medium settings. So I can believe that my laptop can run it at least at 35 to 40 fps with somewhat lower settings right?
The GPU is nearly identical, with a .2 GHZ boost and same core boosts so it should be very close to what you see there. Games don’t leverage all cores, so 10% doesn’t apply here. Do note you need to go into the bios and set maximum performance for the fans, and in Windows power management to get those frame rates.
Thanks for the video, a really helpful comparison. I saw a review of Kamvas 12 talking about the Pen Pressure in Clip Studio doesn't work on Samsung tab. I have a Note 20 Ultra and I was concerned about that, it work for you? also in the xp pen? Btw you mention the Kamvas is a better option for Galaxy S models but what about the old Note models? Im thinking about buy the Kamvas 13 or this Artist 12.
I tried on Kamvas 12, pressure is fine. I tried on Artist 12, pressure (always 100%) is not working in Clip Studio Paint. Note 20 should be fine but not sure if having the S Pen would cause any issues.
@joseph-montanez I'm buying it for college. Mostly, MS Suite, Lightroom, Photoshop(in bluemoon), hopefully it'll handle it. I have a pc for gaming, high demand edits, etc
Hello, thank you for uploading a detailed review video. I recently bought the model shown in the video online and am now waiting for it to be delivered. 1. Is it possible to upgrade the RAM?: The model I bought has 16GB of RAM. I am looking for 16GB of RAM online to upgrade the RAM. Should I buy it? 2. Is the laptop durable? When you turn the laptop 360 degrees several times, has it ever become damaged or impossible to turn?
@@joseph-montanez thanks for your answer. Is the ssd upgrade possible? I mean if i can remove the original ssd on the laptop and insert 1tb ssd. Additinally, how long is the battery time?
This is the best in class pen tech Huion has to offer for its pen tablets. I would put this as a "pro" level pen tablet, its just stripped down since there is no fancy pen holder, not made of metal and has no buttons. When you start learning to use a pen tablet, I would actually recommend working without pressure and tilt as its all to steep of a learning curve. Its easier to master strokes first then, then work on controlling pressure / tilt. Anyways, if this falls in your price range, there will be nothing better, with its closest next option being XP-Pen Deco LW. I do see the Deco LW on eBay, from XP-Pen themselves, certified refurbished (1 year warranty like a new product) for $60 USD. You can't go wrong with both, but the pen options of the Huion PW517/PW550/PW550s is better over the X3 Elite pen from XP-Pen. If you don't need wireless / Android / iOS support then a ton of options open up.
@@joseph-montanez if I can push my price range a bit more would you recommend me the xencelabs medium tablet? (Without the bundle) if not, what options would you recommend me?
@@isaacro.6138 There is nothing that XenceLabs will give you, other than an extra pen. Its an XP-Pen sister company like Ugee, but their "premium" offering. So you are getting a second pen and better customer support. I would recommend the Deco Pro Gen 2 LW, I love their pen and you get their shortcut keys, which isn't included in with Xencelabs Medium pen tablet. Xencelabs medium also does not support Android, iOS, or ChromeOS, unlike the Deco Pro Gen 2. There is also the HUION Inspiroy Dial 2 as an option but I feel that the X3 Pro pen from XP-Pen is a better pen than the PW517 shipped with the Dial 2.
@@joseph-montanezI want to ask something, are these tablets same in terms of pen sensitivity? Cause if im not wrong 640 would have built in 16k pressure? And this other one gets 16k from the firmware update? Cause i checked from the site where i ordered 640 and it says max pen pressure for this ugee 8k, so question is did xp pen 480 just updated firmware before selling or its built in cause theoretically i think built in works better, but then again if looking at amazon it says 16k, weird
@JonelKingas the Deco 640 does have 16k out of the box. The Ugee Q6 has 8k out of the box but a firmware update can be downloaded from the website. You need Windows or MacOS to run the firmware to update the Ugee Q6 to 16k pressure. The before and after difference was not noticeable for the Ugee Q6 it already had great performance. You can also get felt nibs for the Q6 pen from XP-Pen, since it’s the same nib as the X3 Elite pen from XP-Pen. There are no felt nibs for the Deco 640.
@JonelKingas you shouldn’t have the update the Deco 640. Just make sure you download the latest drivers, it will show 16k pressure in the pen settings.
great review! but I am still wondering between PW550s (Pentech 3+) vs X3 elite pen from Deco LW, which one is better? in term of sensitivity and responsiveness
What should I get for £100, I need one for school but don't do art - it's just for general writing and maybe drawing soils for geography? What would you suggest
The PW550s and X3 Elite both have similar initial activation force. The out of the box experience the, the PW550s would win. It’s a straight linear pressure curve and you will see every change in pressure. Also because there is less nib retraction/ wobble, I’ve noticed in writing specially I am less likely to drag the tail end of a letter stroke since the nib isn’t dropping down as much. Now over the X3 Pro pen, that’s where I would prefer the X3 Pro. But that’s only available in the Deco Pro Gen 2 Series. So overall the performance of the PW550s is better than the X3 Elite. I am just not a fan of the slim design, feels too slippery to me.
@zane0756 I think for what you get, it’s worth it but I also think it’s overkill for school. I had recently reviewed the Gaomon WH851 which is a medium size 8x5 rather than a 10x6, but you get buttons, same Bluetooth support, great pen. They are both Huion products, in fact the pens work interchangeably between the two. The Gaomon WH851 would probably be a better purchase unless you really are wanting the most compact 10x6, textured and one of the best in class pen performance.
@@joseph-montanez thankyou for your reply joseph, really appreciate that - i had no idea thevpens worked seamlessly between devices, thsnkyou for informing me of this - i think i will go for the WH581 sounds like it fits my needs. Have a good week my friend
Recently just got the intel 14" model after plenty of consideration within budget, any suggestion for better stylus or even protection for this laptop(screen protector and cover)?
I’d reach out to Lenovo to see if there are other compatible pens. As for laptop cover, there are none right now unless it’s a leather cover which does not work for the 2-in-1 tablet mode. As for screen protector and 14 inch screen protector will work. These screen protectors only cover the specific visible LCD, and not the entire screen.
Well, thank you for your honest and maybe not the most detailed about deco 640 but in my option, more honest than any other video I can find to have more clearly about this tablet. I mean I really love the size for my table but I need more information about the not-good side, we all know nothing it's perfect in this world. But all I can find about this is "it's very good", "the size very suitable if u need to grab it in your bag (or so so) when moving out" bla bla, like all the same :))) Gob, NO!!! This deco's appearance HAD SAID OUT LOUD all of that, why I need to heard that again? And I finally find ur video so thank you pretty much, I think I'm not love this deco much like I thought
I am looking for a business class laptop and was wondering if you had any other suggestions to keep a eye for? I haven't been able to find this elitebook in my area
Am using gaomon s620, with art flow, buttons are not working, but the front pen button does automatically select colour picker, any way to change this?
You can try the reassigning shortcut keys in settings, it might work with the buttons on the pen tablet if not then you would be out of luck and instead need to use the screen or use a Bluetooth keyboard
