Thanks for your feedback it’s me - what is specifically wrong please ? The ball is going upwards 16cm and vertical - appreciate your time in feeding back please subscribe to view future content - all the very best
@@HowardMcCain99 maybe we measure distances differently over here in the United States but there's no way you're throwing the ball up 6 inches. your HAND moves upwards. the ball travels less than 3" on average I have subscribed. hope to see more content in future. love watching amateur guys play. hopefully next time with legal serves
@@TonyJames1974 - thanks Tony - you’re right - I THOUGHT I had solved this problem but clearly I haven’t - whereabouts are you in the USA and do you play TT over there ? All the very best
Thanks that’s great feedback - how ? He was pushing tight and his serves were tighter - I did go for it when I could and made a few mistakes Any advice appreciated and if you can subscribe (free) I would appreciate it All the best
Robert would be a better player if he varied his serves ... other than a single backhand serve attempt, every serve was forehand pendulum. As it stands you know what to expect every time (other than back or forehand area on your side of the table) so returning them *should* be a lot easier. *Your* serves were more varied, albeit there's scope to get a lot more spin on them. 🙂
Well played sir! I started learning to play about a month ago and I'm wondering what kind of rubber you use, and how you think it affects your game. Thanks for the video, I like watching other people play so I can get a perspective of how different the game might be.
Thanks for your note - I play with a Timo Boll ALC carbon blade (flared handle) and my rubbers are Andro Rasanter R42s both sides - if you’re starting out you could try Andro Rasanter R37s which are a bit softer and give you more control - blade maybe a wood blade 5 OR 7 ply will be a little slower than a carbon blade so again will give you more control. Good luck and thanks again for your comments - please like and subscribe to the channel (free) - I would much appreciate it - all the very best to you
- thanks - how does it compare to the standard in your league ? Thanks for your feedback pls subscribe We play a top team next week I suggest you view that match before deciding the standard of the Northumbria league - best wishes
Thanks for your considered feedback - I have a 38% win ratio in division one (first season) so methinks division one - very best wishes and I appreciate you taking the time to comment please like and subscribe for MORE division one and premier league action (starts Northumbria Premier Summer league soon)
@@HowardMcCain99 Also, I have found a way to reverse the spin on the tomahawk serve, which I vary. It causes havoc for opponents who are accustomed to the serve because the actions look very similar until the contact point. Its a good option to have in your arsenal. Good luck!
@@HowardMcCain99 Traditionally, you strike the right side of the ball (if you're right handed) to produce side spin. I normally apply backspin along with the side spin. To reverse it, you apply the same motion. However, the contact point is not the right side of the ball, it is the bottom left of the ball, which will create a clockwise spin with backspin. To test this I used a permanent marker to draw a black line around a ball to see the spin. I also toss the ball up, but not too high...this helps to provide a bit more spin.
Thanks for your feedback - something I am working on yet sometimes I slip back into bad habits - please subscribe and give me feedback after this coming Wednesday’s matches ? Thanks in anticipation
@@HowardMcCain99 actually your first two serves in the first game (and all serves of the same type thereafter) were OK in terms of height of toss ... the problem was angle of toss - as the ball is tossed it can transcribe an arc through the air; at the peak of the arc the angle drawn from the ball toss start to the peak must not exceed 30° from vertical ... yours were nearer 30° from horizontal (so 60° from vertical). This is considered as "throwing" the ball at the bat. As you infer, every day is a learning opportunity. 🙂 PS: I'll be down visiting my brother (who lives in East Boldon, so only about 6 miles from St. Gabriels) for the weekend starting Friday 5th July ... in case you fancy a meet up and a game (in which case I'll bring my bat with me). 🙂
This guy Mr Wilkinson is a dangerous player, he has a very good forehand and a decent backhand. As for me, I am a rubbish player so please don't take my suggestions as though I'm an expert 😝: @4:52 he put side spin on the ball, which is why you missed it…sometimes hitting the ball right after the bounce can help. @7:21 and @7:31 your high push gave him an opportunity to slam the ball. I would use my backhand (using your wrist) to return instead. Lastly, I noticed when you hit some of his serves into the net, he was using backspin.
Ken is playing particularly well tactics have to be to push him and hopefully wait for a mistake or an opportunity I don’t like his serves either - thanks for your FB Legend please subscribe for more content 😀
A good example of why the 21-system was changed: or nothing happens during the first 20 points, or the set is lost when you reached 10 but still need to sit out a second half of the set without any tension. Anyway, well played guys 👏🏻
I don't believe it! 😉 From the camera angle it was hard to tell whether it clipped the edge or the side of the table ... edge = your point; side = his point.
Thanks for your feedback - I agree and I was happy to give Richard the point - he’s a class player and person so gave me the benefit of the doubt - all the best please subscribe I value your future feedback
I am a mere mortal...an average player...a man with a racket...BUT, I believe if you use your wrist a bit more when you slam, it will introduce more power and win more points. Good luck from an average player. 😛😋🏓
Thanks for your feedback. The main power comes from the legs, transfers into the arm. A relaxed swing gives the power - being too tense can be my problem. Whereas the wrist has a part to play my view is that power comes from the points previously mentioned - much appreciate your feedback however
Is he called "The Nuke" because he goes ballistic in an instant? 😉😂 He obviously also doesn't have a good grasp of tactics ... a right handed tomahawk serve from that corner is silly as it leaves the whole table exposed for an attack 🙄
Thanks for your feedback which I have taken on board from other viewers - please subscribe and watch last Monday’s match where I am trying to improve the serve - thanks again and best wishes
yes, is a very bad service, but pretty easy to attack...that's the problem, nobody knows the basic things to play this game....no movement, no acceleration , no tactics.....if you lose against a weak opponent like Howard, you are the problem.
Thanks for your feedback - I am trying to improve and I am on a continuous journey - Rome wasn’t built in a day but I will continue working hard - please subscribe for more content and thank you for your honest and direct feedback I appreciate it
I am not deliberately cheating - I value your feedback and will change the serve - please look at my latest match (you would need to subscribe) where I have made improvements. I realise the ball needs to move upwards less than 30 degrees by 6 inches/16 cm - until it is pointed out (thanks again) I have been serving incorrectly BUT not deliberately cheating (I am an honest man) - changes WILL be made - see future matches I promise you that - best wishes
Good games ... but you were too eager to attack his serves; he got too many points that way. You'd (probably) have had more success just pushing your returns, setting up a push/chop shot to his forehand (which looked weaker than his backhand) thus tempting him into a forehand smash into the net or overcompensated topspin thus long. Just my 2c 🙂
Probably more success yeah, but the gap in level was too big to get any other end result. How is that made in England, when it comes to who plays who in tournaments, the gap in level should not be as big as this.
@@Socialisten I think it was a handicap competition, where the lesser ranked player starts with a lead (e.g. 4-0) based on the difference between the rankings of the 2 players. 🙂
@@InBodWeTrust aah yeah, for sure it was ... I have seen more matches on this channel with that concept, they just sometimes have "handicap" attached to them, not this one. But its true, I noticed it with the following match.
Thanks Ian - you’re right - I had an 8-0 start - we both play in the same league however BUT Jamie Lupton plays for the 2nd top team - I play for the 3rd bottom team in the league - yes there is a difference in standard BUT with an 8-0 start it went to deuce in the 3rd end (I am getting better !!!) - thanks for your feedback I appreciate it keep it going please (valuable to me). What I would say is that I DID open on his serves which, had I pushed my view is that I would have been beaten by a larger margin - in this match I beat myself as I was the one opening but then made too many mistakes - unusually Jamie was passive and with a more consistency I would have won - see game 2 - I went 6/8 points on the bounce winning EVERY point - best wishes and thanks again
The guy in the back looks like Jason Momoa 😝..but seriously, this was very entertaining...if you can improve your backhand, I think it will help a lot.
Thanks - I appreciate your feedback- please subscribe to the channel it helps promote it for more content - keep the feedback coming - most people say my backhand is the strongest and it’s my FH I need to work on so yours is interesting FB - best wishes
See previous comments re the serve - I AM improving it - pls subscribe to the channel and you will see in my last match that I AM taking your FB on board - best wishes to you
ALL Howard's services are ilegal. Too low the toss and note quite straight up. Sometimes he left the tossing hand in front of the ball blocking the view of it. Howard will not be permited to serve like that in the league I play. A week of training can fix that.
ALL of them ? Are you certain? 6 inches/16 cm toss - All are illegal ? Thanks for your feedback - the service toss HAS to be “straight up” if it is behind/in front then it’s illegal - thanks for pointing out the service strong points - I agree the tomahawk needs to be a little higher but the pendulum is ok - best wishes
@@HowardMcCain99 the toss must not create an angle (from toss position to top of the arc) of more than 30°, but it certainly does *not* need to be straight up. I see I'm not the only one to note that your serves are often "suspect" 😉 *All* of your tomahawk serves (in the first game at least, which is when this comment was made) were illegal; your pendulum serves ... hmm, hard to be sure - they looked OK in the 2nd game as the camera angle allows us to see it better.
I would be calling out Howard's serve ... some look decidedly low toss (min 15cm required), especially his forehand tomahawk serves. (His match-winning serve was a prime example - no way that was a 15cm toss)
Thanks for the feedback I will watch out for this and adjust the serve much appreciated - pls like and subscribe if you enjoyed the match and thanks again
