Do you have any pet relief areas outside your terminal before you check in? That’s actually have real grass in it for service dogs and are your signs in braille for a blind folks
50% of this video is useless. I was sent to this video to get familiar with how to navigate the new airport. I just want to understand how to park and find my flight. And where is my ticket? How do I get my boarding pass? Etc etc etc. On a side note.....they messed up the most functional airport in the States.
Whoever designed this cluster f* of drop off / pick up lanes completely failed the mission. We are over 6 months in and all the rah rah BS about it working itself out did not help the situation work itself out. It’s still a nightmare and there should be major fines and loss of licenses to design any type of structure like this. It’s a mess with no REAL solutions being taken. After over 1 billion dollars…let me say that again…1 billion dollars!!! The traffic situation is a f*ing mess with no solutions in sight. This is a huge fail and makes this new terminal a disaster. No amount of stupid useless artwork helps the traffic frustration.
What genius came up with the idea of building a new terminal in a dead place like Kansas City area? It’s not even a hub city. Just a waste of tax dollars.
I worked at this airport as a TSA agent before it changed from old to new. Wow, I am impressed at all the thought that went into making it worthy of the word international. Bet the TSA agents are having to go thru a lot of orientation and new training to accomodate the new design at the check points. Glad I'm retired. Great vid.
If I understood correctly, the area to familiarize yourself or children with flying is inside the secure area which means you cannot make use of it ahead of your flight day.
its been covered with sheetrock and and no one can see it until it's renovated or demoolished in another 40 years or longer. These places last about 40 years.
Thank you for this video! I'm using the new airport for the first time this week and this alleviates some anxiety about finding where I need to go. Kudos!
To be honest, it's 50 year old concrete, it's breaking and cracking all over. Best to tear it down and make room for expansion of the new terminal in the future.
So would you want to be cramped into a 30 x 100 foot space with 200 people, only one bathroom, only one tiny food stand if your flight is delayed for hours, all while you waited for your airplane? Because that's ~exactly~ what the old terminal was.
I'm originally from KC and I'm so glad to be traveling back home soon to be experiencing this new terminal. I'm also really excited that the designers took notice of people with disabilities and made it easier for them to use the facilities, notibally the Sensory room and Changing room for adults. I just wish that the doors in the All Gender bathroom were normal in Every bathroom. The 2 feet of clearance over/under the stalls does not help my anxiety about doing the deed or otherwise changing clothes if needed.
How can you make a video and not discuss the new garage and satellite and waiting parking lots? The old airport was more functional and to the point, here we needed to create a theme park around an airport? The pick up area having 30-60 min back ups just to pick someone up.
It's never taken me longer than 20 minutes to be picked up at any other airport. People need to learn not to literally park their vehicles for 20 minutes waiting for their passengers. This isn't the old terminal where you could do that. People will learn to use the Cell Phone lot and wait until their passengers are ready to be picked up or be towed away. "The old airport was more functional and to the point" - You had to go out of security, out of the terminal, back into another terminal, and re-enter security if you had a connecting flight departing from another terminal. Imagine if you had to do that at any other airport in the America, much less the World. Imagine if you had a layover in the same terminal and you were stuck in a 30 x 100 foot area with one bathroom and one tiny food stand for 4 hours.
I am so going to miss the old KCI, as it was my home airport since I took my first trip in 2010, but I'm happy to see that a new generation will be getting a much better experience, and will make the same memories I did way back when. ✈♥
