This terminal looks really modern and a big improvement. This and Terminal One at EWR, Newark will be great for travellers. It also shares some cool features ( elements of Bauhaus architecture) with Berlin Brandenburg airport.
Jetblue started service to Kansas City with nonstop service to New York JFK and Boston. I'm also wishing for Jetblue to start year round nonstop service between Kansas City-Ft Lauderdale.
SOM can do good work on a limited budget. See the new SeaTac Arrivals Facility. Here the budget must have been very constrained. The volumes and massing remind me of a suburban mall.
By far one of the dumbest concepts every pushed on us. What women would ever want to use the same toilet as a man that typically stands to pee (and often misses)?
I'm all for the restrooms being genderless, as it's more cost effective... but do the restrooms have to look so bland and gray? Who approved the [lack of a] design pallette? 😬
As much as I am for an all new airport, I am still not a fan of this design. If this is what is supposed to reflect Kansas City, this is giving me "oh, we are basic!" There is nothing exciting about this airport design outside of it being "new". It's the capital letter I.....and flat!!!! It is evident that either design had limits because of budget or the design team just didn't GAF!
The backbone is modern and clean, but there will be hundreds of art pieces by local artists and plenty of skyline and BBQ touches by the time it opens to the public.
