@@Mikaelalan Like I said, crimes are bound to happen in any country including Japan. I never said that no crimes ever happen. Just that compared to the vast majority of the world its ultra safe. Its safer that any asian county (Korea is probably just as safe), its safer than every single african or south american country, its safer than most US states, its safer than a majority of european countries. Even in the safest country in the world crimes will happen from time to time, but you have to talk about it relatively to everywhere else.

These cases are very disturbing. After watching your channel, I watched a translated lecture from the brother who has written a book, and a French youtuber (with subtitles) focused on true crime. It seems there was multiple cases of sexual assault in the area prior to her arrival-and you mentioned the signs and warnings. A guy was reported on one of these trails with a crow bar, and exhibiting bizarre behavior by a tourist who avoided him and this tourist later wrote details in a blog. This crow bar character was arrested about a month prior in 2018. And there was a case where “2 men” were spotted on a trail, and blocked the trail as two female hikers approached in 2020. They managed to get away. It seems like multiple shady characters head into the area. I definitely think Tripaine was an unlucky hiker that day, and some sinister character knocked her out on the trail or lured her into his car and away they drove from the “crime scene.” I’m guessing the lackadaisical response from the Tochigi police comes down to face saving. Their department is aware of sexual assault and criminal activity from past events in the area. I’m just thinking from an Oregonian standpoint, whenever people fall off cliffs, get stuck on a rocks as the tide comes in, become trapped on mountain after hiking and a blizzard comes in, fall or jump into a body of water, rescue teams find them (sometimes dead but usually within one to two days). They have a very small radius to cover where there is an accident. I think in the first case, Skye was lured to Japan. It may seem ridiculous. And at first it seems suicide. But the fact that she suddenly had thousands of dollars and went somewhere obscure (Noboribetsu) as opposed to anime-ish Tokyo, suggests maybe that someone persuaded her into going to Hokkaido to “meet up.” The more I listen to her sister, Skye seemed smart, but also just very naive and susceptible. And her sister thinks she had a second email account. All the tourists and foreign students in Hokkaido back then had super specific reasons to be there…and it’s off the main tourist circuit. I don’t but quite buy it that she took a walk and froze to death or was eaten by bear. Anyone who has lived through several seasons of snow is aware you can’t just go for hike with 2 to 5 feet of snow (trails are snowed over). The police would find a body within a quarter mile or less-not going far in waist deep snow without gear. She would only physically be able to walk on plowed surfaces (city streets, major roads, highways) where people would see her. I think she got in someone’s car and they drove off 50+ miles. Otherwise People would notice her walking just like Tripaine. Snow shoeing is possible on compacted snow. We know Skye didn’t purchase snow gear or have contact with any outdoor sports shops. Cross country is also possible on compacted snow and typically snow in a flat pass which has been flattened by a device. These options would allow someone to mobilize farther across a cold climate. And these require a car to access a parking lot near a pass… and snow equipment. She got abducted.

Seems she was close to Tosho-gu as she was staying on the turtle inn, which is a well known cheap hostel in the area. I’ve been a couple of times recently to that area and saw her missing post sign, but cannot seem to find info about the last cell phone location…. Without more info I do not believe she will be ever found…
@unrested
@unrested День назад
Yeah you got it right on the last place seen. Yeah I wish there was more info. It’s scary that we can’t pin point last location and the cell was turned off in an “unconventional way” as the cell service provider stated. Sucks that the ceo of the cell service she used in France went out of his way to have that amount of research done but the Japanese police kinda just let the case run cold

The first thing I think of is wildlife, there are bears and monkeys usually in the countryside. In 2013 I went to Tadosan in Mie, as I was walking up the entrance to the trail a group of monkeys was coming down the trail and they were staying primarily on the edges but I spotted two youngsters that hopped down on the paved trail, they were so young and little I immediately froze, I could feel their curiosity and didn't want them to approach me due to the rest of the adults hiding on both sides of me, I slowly and quietly backed down the trail facing them never turning my back. They followed us all the way back to the car and didn't seem afraid at all, as I drove slowly out of the park, one was perched on a fence and one ran into the road, but I had already passed that part, mind you I was in a small sports car with a roof that comes down and I didn't want to frighten them and attack the car, the one that came out in the road sat for about a minute and just looked at us from behind the car, he then went back to the hill and I drove away. My Japanese friend said those monkeys are sacred and you should never mess with them. Supposedly in Japanese culture they are thought of as gods. I know enough about wildlife that you should never approach any wildlife when their babies are around, some people don't get this or have the inner instinct to walk away before things get scary. I just felt it was better to leave and come back another time, after all it is their home. Part of me thinks she was kidnapped, she could still be somewhere in Japan, let's face it there are crazies everywhere these days.

Foreigners from America really are perpetually late all the times and as of late its now worse haah. 15-30mins is a norm when i make a appointment. Folks always late, rarely on time, and never early. Also they tend to get gassed easy getting burned out fast. Also quick to complain and gossip in the worse ways. Is what it is haha, but certainly see why they dont make it in Japan or other homogenous countries. I think the loosness of time in states has some advantageous though in atleast everyone has that leeway including yourself so being a little late to go back and get something if you forgot isnt that bad.

46:04 btw, the reason Mira had to defend 12 year olds getting married in Saudi Arabia is because it is widely accepted by Muslims that Mohammed married a 6 year old and consummated that marriage when she was only 9. Say what you will about pedo priests in Catholicism, but nothing in the Bible condones marrying/sleeping with young children. Unfortunately for Mira, she came to understand that Mohammed is supposed to be the ultimate example of the most moral man for all time, and so she either had to renounce her new faith, or defend it when the topic was brought to her
