These are the kinds of videos I enjoy the most. I want to hear a guy whose lived in Japan for years talk down to earth heart to heart man to man about his experiences

Yeah sadly that whole ending people’s account that don’t use it for ages sucks for us oldies. We lose subs simply because they start closing out old accounts but hey thanks for sticking with me for so long!

as much as i really appreciate and respect the highly edited stuff some youtubers put out these days, i really enjoy conversational stuff as well. always found your work easy to watch, interesting take and experiences to share, and you're always thoughtful about it.

As an American on my 13th year in Japan, I enjoy listening to your experience moving back to the US and your takes on the 2 countries. My wife is also Japanese and we talk about moving to the US, but havnt made the jump yet. I had some major reverse culture shock visiting my hometown in Ohio a few months ago. It was my first time back in 8 years lol. One thing I realize I hated about the US is how much ppl try to force religion and politics on each other. Ppl would always ask me what religion I am and about my political views. In Japan theres almost none of that.
Scott, not sure if you've ever played any Assassin's Creed videogames, but apparently, there will be a new one coming out that's set in feudal Japan. And one of the characters you can play as is that legendary black samurai Yasuke that appears in some anime shows. If you can, definitely make a video about that man! Cheers!
@@marocat4749the thing is, Ninjas are a bit mis-represented in the West, we tend to think of ninjas as wearing all black all the time, but that's not quite true historically. Ninjas were intelligence gatherers, similar to spies, and the only time to collect information from a crowded marketplace or wherever else would be in the daytime. Wearing all black would kind of defeat the purpose 😅
Kudos to the great questions asked by the viewer! This video got me through doing my dishes, lol! Just why I love RU-vid and it's longform content. Also happy you're back to making videos. You have a unique perspective of Japan and America in being a parent and living in Japan for so long. Most people I watch who live in Japan have only been there for a long time but don't have a family yet (which, I don't want children...or to even move to Japan but I still enjoy watching content about there, lol). Or, if they have had kids, they've stopped making videos entirely (Texan in Japan was a good one, I miss them), or they've moved out of the country with zero intentions of returning (the Japanese conformity finally broke them or was negatively affecting their children). Anywho, I'm just happy to be along for the ride 😊

Hey man, what part of Japan are you in again? I keep looking at houses in Osaka and Hokkaido, not really sure what the i guess "best areas are" as it were. What i would be looking for is something close to a big hub but still small town / suburb feel.
I just returned from 4 years in Korea back to florida And yah its toxic I'm planning to return back to Asia I'm not trying to get stuck for an election that could sadly start a civil war 😅
thanks for making this video, I've been curious what its like for someone who spent so long in Japan to come back. I only spent 3 years living there and came back almost 6 years ago, and I still struggle. The shock of George Floyd, the 2020 election cycle, Jan 6th etc, soon after my return caused a pretty unbearable stress level after being far removed from what was going on here while living in Japan. So much has changed since I moved to Japan in 2015 and sometimes, I regret leaving even though I agree with a lot of your rationale for coming back too and had my own valid reasons. Its complicated to be torn between two places that are so far away and so different.
Yeah if I could combine the two I wish for calm serene handling of all things public knowledge and emergency base as in Japan yet the forward thinking of “if it’s broke then fix it” in America. Perhaps these two ways forward will one day be embraced by what nation and when I am unsure.

So my wife and I are going to be going to Japan. we would like to go to Shibuya and Shinjuku for part of that trip, as far as I could tell the crime rate is pretty low but I've seen certain articles saying that some of the areas in Tokyo that we want to visit are "notoriously dangerous" Shinjuku being one of them. so I was wondering how dangerous is dangerous?
Shinjuku? Nah you’re be fine. If you go to roppongi don’t go into any sketchy bars especially if people come out to the street and aggressively ask you to come in.
Sam of the golden locks? lol. That’s a new one. I’m unfamiliar with his hairstylist as I don’t really pamper myself with a stylist. Nonetheless no I cannot contact Sam. Sadly he has blocked me on everything. Even his tiger games handheld and black berry.

I had a someone from another country staying with me. On the way home from a movie. We stopped for gas, ice cream, then picked up a six pack of beer.. The person was shocked you could buy ice cream, beer, and porn at gas station. That's America, gas, beer, and porn at a gas station. What more do you need. I was shocked people still bought porn, and now ypu can buy pot at the gas station.
