Truly enjoy your reviews!!! You three work so well together. Really appreciate Greg and Dana being transparent about their health issues. Prayers and blessings to you both!! ♥️💙
Many blessings to you. I was grateful for the opportunity to speak on some of the health complications Dana and I face. That's something I appreciate Starz for doing, bringing light to these struggles.
Im not gonna lie this was a disappointment 5th episode to this season and in all honesty I think the writers have dropped the ball when it comes to storylines on ghost. Season one and two I really enjoyed they had some good storylines despite some of the acting from Mary J. Blige but the last two seasons have been poor in my opinion, this is probably why views have drop off and they decided to cancel the show. you guys talk about spin off in the power universe but in my opinion they will finished raising Kanan, Ghost and Force once they’ve done Power origins I personally think they’ll end the universe. to me It’s getting a bit boring now and unrealistic with teenage kids who are fighters and trained assassins. I like raising Kanan because we know where roughly is going to end. But after that, I think they should end it, I think since Courtney has left to the writing on the show went downhill big time in my opinion
I’m not going to lie guys you constantly talk about a London power spin off personally I don’t ever see that ever happening. Power works good because it’s in America. It would never work in the UK. That’s just in my opinion but I think just keep power to the US.
I'm hoping they don't do the London spin-off too. We just started getting a bunch of really good British made shows on Netflix. Ones that are organic and authentic. Top Boy, Supacell, Kin etc... I feel like Power would dilute that. Keep Power in the US because that's what the experience we watch it for
Monet is definitely one of the worst mothers in the entire power universe lol this character doesn’t deserve a happy ending and I want to see exactly what happens with her in the last few episodes.
The episode was Trash still nobody dead of importance. The women are poorly written on this show. All of them are pick me hoes. Everyone jumping from bed to bed. What’s next Norma Tariq Cane Davis and Anya in the bed. Diana is so annoying I ready for her to go. Diana doesn’t want anything to do with him yet she is having his baby that makes no sense. Why have the baby? I knew Carter was crooked.
I agree on every point you made. The rule of thumb for a midseason finale going on a 2 month hiatus is that there def should be a major death on the table. I know they will use the excuse of them not knowing this was the final season but that’s bs. There are way too many things happening in the show to be condensed into a 10 episode season and it shows in the overall poor quality of the end result.
Tariq, becoming the Apex Predator, proves that the decision to take out James Jaime Gh0st St Patrick was premature and faulty. I was terribly let down with the acid trip. I so wanted to see Ghost. I am done with the return of Ghost 😢😂 to this show. These last two episodes were entertaining, but I'm not anxiously awaiting the last 5. I will finish the season. My husband suffers from a chronic illness. He has Crohn's disease, so I appreciated both Gary and Dana sharing your personal experiences. I also appreciate that they added a very debilitating disease dynamic to the show. Professor Abercrombie I loved your analogy of the Monster Mom Monet it was spot on. The art piece representing the Tejada kids was exceptional. When I fist saw the scene I only referenced Dru as an individual and how I felt that art piece spoke to him. I don't like how Det Carter and his taskforce keeps underestimating Kamal. I really hope he doesn't get taken out. Now that we know Carter to be on dual sides, I am looking for something different to take place. We still don't know his disdain towards Tariq and if this could possibly tie into Kamal heading up an investigation into Carter. I liked the thought of Tariq finding out what happened to Carter's wife and using it to his advantage. I can also see it being Carter's downfall even with him being decorated. I agree that we have seen Cane's character progress more than Tariq's and I can see a spinoff for him. I still feel that Cane is looking for a mommy figure's approval tho. His looking at Noma during the playschool fight scene with Zion reminded me of a kid showing off for his mommy 😂. The fight was one we could see in a school yard. I wanted something better and I certainly didn't want to see Cane looking at Noma. Noma's character has been diminished. Zion's character has been diminished too. Also, was it just me, but was Zion's picture on Elle's nightstand? I am going to go back and rewatch. They have reduced Effie's role as well. We have seen Noma cut off a hand and take folks out over a ring why did she give lil orphan Effie a pass 😂? Brayden does need a minute to figure out his life away from Tariq. Davis and Noma are officially our resident Thotties 😂. The season finale was disappointing yet slightly entertaining. My comments are all over the place just like this damn episode. I did enjoy your review. I don't want to see Tariq get taken out. I want to see his daddy take those oranges 🍊 to his chest and now his chin😂. Great review ❤ as always. I am looking forward to what you guys have planned during the hiatus. I hope the three of you are developing your own show since Richard has resigned (rightfully so😂) as the writing consultant for Power😂😂
Sorry to hear about your husband's Chrohns. I've heard that condition is very painful and uncomfortable. I hope he is coping well. Excellent comment as always, it really does seem like Cane still has mummy issues, and he's now treating Noma as his mummy. The dude in Elle's picture does look similar to Zion ngl lol. But if it is him then surely Brayden would recognize that as he deals directly with Zion. I saw the trailer, and it looks like Cane will fight Tariq again and get the better of him lol. I'm curious to see where they take this, but I'm not excited.
@@GarySwaby thank you Gary. Crohn's is painful. My husband receives treatments every 6 weeks. They help, but with all medications and chronic illnesses it is not curable. He has had horror stories with hospital personnel undervaluing his pain as well. I pray for everyone suffering from a chronic illness. Cane definitely has mom/mum issues. He keeps telling Noma she only needs his protection. I hope that the writers don't diminish her character to be that foolish. It seems she and her daughter are on the show to hand out "coochie coupons" (shout out to comedian Adele Givens who first came up with that many years ago) I said the same thing about Brayden being able to recognize Zion in the picture, but I said three things could be going on. 1. It isn't Zion. 2. Brayden so out of it he isn't paying attention. 3. We all look alike 😅 I'm kidding about the latter. Now if it were his brother or daddy the 3rd comment would be applicable😅. I saw the trailer as well and I thought Zion was choking Tariq out. I have to rewatch it. I am not excited, but I will hold out on hope for the remaining shows. Thanks again for the response and you guys' great assessment on this platform.
@@tracylee4451Sorry for the late response to this comment as I was slightly triggered by this episode and needed a few days to process 😂 On a serious note, I definitely send my well wishes to your husband. As I get older, I have noticed health becomes a major concern for us all. While I know there will be good and bad days, I hope he is able to manage and avoid as much pain as possible. As for Power itself, I do agree the episode was slightly entertaining but definitely disappointing. That club scene definitely triggered me because there was potential for that to be so much more than it was 😂 I like the comment about the Zion picture and my guess is if he is the one choking Tariq it’s because Tariq or Brayden did something to Elle. There are many possibilities with where they can go but we will see what happens. I’m not excited to see the second half but I’m a fan so I definitely will be watching regardless out of principal lol
@RichardBaileyJr 🤣🤣no problem for the late response. I figured you were out submitting your writing credentials to another show, especially after this episode😅😅. Thanks for the well wishes to my husband. I appreciate that, and yes, the older we get, the more our health becomes an issue. Anyway, people seem to think that when this episode was initially filmed, they had no plans of canceling the show. This could be the reason it didn't give us all more of what we wanted. I'm sure Tariq will find out about Elle, and she will meet her fate. We will see what happens.
Agree w Richard, this episode didn't move me. Brayden's girl drugging Tariq was just like Holly putting the hit on Ghost w both Brayden & Tommy "what did u do" even Zion calling Brayen "tiny Tommy or little Tommy, I forgot just has the show not being creative enough
This was a great comparison about Holly trying to setup Ghost as I definitely remember that from the OG show. I think Elle as a character definitely will cause more fallout between Tariq and Brayden but it might not be as severe since they are still shown teaming up in the new final episodes teaser trailer. We will have to wait and see what happens but yeah I was disappointed with this episode especially as a midseason finale.
I feel like Diana saying that she used a condom with salim and not Tariq was the only way they could prove Tariq was the father because she slept with him and salim within days of each other at first I thought that they were gonna have Diana tell salim that she was pregnant and then he responds by saying he can’t have kids but if they did that then salim would’ve told Tariq when he came to his house and then we wouldn’t have gotten the stand off between Tariq, Monet and Diana I am happy that whole “who is the father” storyline is over now because I feel like they spent too much time this episode building on Tariq being a father just for him not to be and even though Diana was talking about how she wanted to keep her baby away from the game I feel like she’s gonna get more involved in it so she can provide for her baby
If Salim is dead, it wouldn't make much sense to revisit him being the father storyline. Tariq is the main character so i think that's what they'll go with. However, history has shown us that anything can happen. We didn't see police find Salim's body yet. He's just "missing". I'm honestly surprised they didn't show the body being found in this episode. Could this be another Lauren situation?
I feel like the difference between noma in season 3 and season 4 is that in season 3 she was the big bad and now she’s and Carter is so they had to make her more vulnerable
You’re right and they definitely made her more vulnerable this season with the inclusion of Anya. I do however want to see what happens between her, Cane, and Davis. It’s all a chess game between Cane trying to position himself to take over Noma’s operation while Davis is keeping her distracted from messing with Tariq. Now that they know Tariq and Brayden are back in the drug game it’s only a matter of time before things get more dangerous.
I agree with you 100% on these scores. For a midseason finale, I feel like something major needed to happen. Don Carter being revealed as a dirty cop was a good twist but I feel like if a character on the cast was taken out that would be a far better way to go out with a break. I'm sure this will probably happen in episode 6 or 7 but we will have to wait and see if thats the plan.
@@joebloe4491 well remember at the time the season was written and subsequently filmed predated the decision to cancel the show, so hence episode 5 was a mid season episode. Mid season episodes number 5 on a 10 series show always have major plot twists but not the effect
The Power universe is what's sustaining the Starz network in my opinion. I think that's why they had to split Ghost , and make us wait until the Fall pathetic.
You are 100% right about this which is why I questioned when they decided to start canceling these shows. I guess BMF and P-Valley both have decent size audiences which is why they are both still getting renewed. Power however is the series that got Starz more attention though from the beginning and they definitely should know and treat the franchise better.
It's nice seeing a Noma more multifaceted this season we see her as a mother, lover , her home. As opposed to last season where she arrive in the dark of the night out of no where with Obi just to give orders along with reminders of "consequences "😢
I think they did a good job dropping clues about this with the biggest one being the previous episode where he refused to follow the Zion lead that Kamaal Tate suggested. That was a sign to me that something more was going on with him as a character and now we got the confirmation that he is dirty. Very curious to see where things go from here with him.
I want to add, the presentation of Detective Carter motives on the surface may seem justifiable, when he gives a speech if you can't beat em join em and not that someone innocent shouldn't be hurt blah blah but it's all very illegal
@@RichardBaileyJr yes I didn't make the connection between the two. The writers twist was that Carter basically was saying he can't stop the game, but he can control it by letting some people off the hook go after others, set rules etc. And then asking for a cut , all of this is illegal and a very serious felony in its own right He's dirty period. I like that this podcast includes people like yourself. Behind the scenes and had a role in the creative process that is far more interesting to me than when the other talent is interviewed. They are just acting a role
@@RichardBaileyJr I missed that clue took it the exchange at face value. Noma killed Obi, Mecca killed his right hand man same story different characters
@@gradetrend8138 You made some very great points and we definitely thank you for taking the time to listen to the podcast. I do want to clarify though that I definitely don't work for Starz lol We just think about the show from a writing aspect too since we are all writers and Gary is a published author. I'm very curious to see how many react to Don Carter's turn and I agree 100% with you that what he is doing is highly illegal. The whole idea of if you can't beat them join them makes sense but by this logic every character on the show definitely should be punished for their actions. It feels like now Carter will be the main one getting taken down by the end but I'm curious to see if another twist is coming that leads to other characters going out too.
Dana, you ALWAYS come through with great questions. I hollered when LaToya said neither guy would be mature enough to be a father, and as you posed that question, I answered in unison with LaToya😂. Great interview ❤ Ego D3@+# next episode 😅 let's see who gets stripped and how.
Can anyone explain how to not suck his balls in the 2nd one on pc? I do it the first time but then it just don't work... Edit: Okay I figured it out, in the 2nd one it says to hold the "LEFT" mouse button and press the "RIGHT" mouse button when his balls start getting sucked, TURNS OUT THE CONTROLS ARE REVERSED!!
I’m not gonna lie that’s a wild take from Dana to say that detective Carter’s wife could be Angela or his sister. I think that made no sense. Angela would not have been able to hide a brother from ghost and He would’ve known if she had a brother he’s known her since they were young.
These episodes honestly feel all over the place. We have Tariq whose still trying to be a drug dealer and go to school which makes no sense . We have modern day Cane vs Abel. Effie is just Effie we still don’t know who she really is. Diana is also still Diana( I truly believe Salem was the father) and I totally agree about Monet she gets way to much screen time for what to be honest she doesn’t really bring anything to the show. Method Man is pretty much Tariq’s version of Proctor. Oh I forgot the new Detective is much worse than how Sax was with trying to nail Ghost. I hope the second half is better because so far these episodes haven’t been that good
I agree on every point you made Nolimit. I also think another problem is that Starz tried to cram all these storylines into a 10 episode final season. The OG Power show had an extended season to fully show all the perspectives on who shot Ghost. It feels like they decided they needed to end this season as soon as possible and therefore no additional episodes were necessary. The decision not to expand on Effie as a character was a missed opportunity and as you said unfortunately we may never get that. We will see what happens in the second half but if certain stuff feels rushed or repetitive then it definitely will be a disappointing way to end the show.
@@RichardBaileyJr 100% agree. They should've had another season at least that would've given them enough time to finish up story lines better. But I tip my hat to Cane his character development has been great
@@NolimitP504 I also agree 100% on both them needing another season and doing a good job of developing Cane further as a character. He better be getting a spinoff show as it definitely makes sense to see his story continue beyond this show.
For a show that is supposed to be about Tariq, why does Monet get all the spotlight?? Ugh. I don't mind Monet but I feel like Tariq and Brayden's screen time gets shortchanged in favor of focusing on Monet. Great discussion as always and I very much agree with all of the critiques!
I agree with you 100% on this Esther. I'm also sure both Mary and Method Man are getting paid a ton of money not just because of their characters but also because of how prominent they are as musical artists. This is probably why they feature Monet more than Tariq but it really should focus on him and Brayden more especially with the show being named after him lol
It’s because she is Mary J Blige that’s she getting loads of screen time, I wouldn’t mind that much if she was a good actor but I think she has got worse not better since season 1. You don’t hear anyone saying anything about method man 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
I can see why Monet got so much focus in the first season as we were just coming off the OG Power and Tariq was such a disliked character but the training wheels can come off! I feel like the Tejadas aside from Cane are not really doing anything for Tariq’s character and this whole pregnancy thing with Diana is just a way to keep Diana somehow roped in as well as Monet. As for Dru….after this episode what purpose does he serve? When they were first introduced back in S1 I thought we were going to see Tariq manipulate his way to the top of their organization and steal it right from under them but…no. I have mixed feelings writing this because I don’t by any means dislike them but if they were going to absorb a lot of the story the show should’ve been called Power Legacy or something. Sorry for the rant but Brayden has so much potential and so much could’ve been explored with Weston Holdings (a plot thread that was killed in the cradle) but since the story is focusing on characters that Tariq has outgrew the formula feels stagnant.
I feel like MJB is getting so much screen time because she's executive producer. You would think that by season 4, her acting would get better, but I'm left just agreeing to the character growth without really seeing it through her acting. I'm hoping that they are ending the Tejada storyline so that the Tariq and Brayden story can continue.
Ugh this episode was too sappy in regards to Monet. Yes Richard no happy ending for her. How dare she put these criminals she calls her kids out in the world and expect a second chance. Jesus forgives Monet not the rest of us. No grands for you Monet.
I'm glad we agree on this lol After all the horrible things they showed her doing with her kids growing up, I lost it when she was talking about saving her grandbaby lol she definitely is the last one who should have access to that kid as she definitely will ruin his/her life just like she did Cane, Dru, and Diana.
Who made that comment about Black Holly because it’s hilariously on point 😂 We will see what happens with Tariq but that ending would make sense to prove that Ghost was right lol
Another small gripe, why make Cane go to the same college as the political aide, I wanted to see Cane fumble w an answer to a ? connected to the school & have the political aide feel something was up & approach his boss & see Cane & Noma wriggle out of that scenario?
This is a great question and my guess is we might see this character again if Cane survives and gets his own spin-off show. He very well may work with this guy in some capacity if they aren’t on opposing sides.
This episode pissed me off. Typing in the beginning so not sure if y'all will address it but first of, how tf did Diana & Tariq know where to go to Salim's house in Greenwich CT? That had me yelling at my phone lol. The killing of family is really upsetting to me, sick of it. Lastly, Tariq 's violence is off putting, he isn't like Ghost at all in that way, so quick to wanna kill or kick someone's ass & let's be real, Tariq ain't really bout it, bout it (an old skool phrase)
I agree 100% on what you said about Tariq. He is very reckless in what he does whereas Ghost was more meticulous and thought out things at least until the final season where they made him sloppy too lol Tariq however already got saved before between what happened with Jukebox and Kanan and again with the Italians. He still pursued this lifestyle even though Ghost warned him multiple times so he definitely deserves whatever bad ending is coming his way. As for how Diana and Tariq knew where Salims parents house was I guess that info was shared by off screen because Salim def didn’t give him the address on camera 😂
Cain beat the cat piss outta dru fr😂 and the flashbacks be better than current time. And Tariq really needs to get off the streets cause he a walking body.
I couldn’t stop laughing at that Dru beat down 😂 he definitely had it coming with the way he was talking back to Cane. I also agree on the flashbacks being better and we will see what happens with Tariq with all the crazy moves he continues to make this season lol
Just finished the episode of power shit was 🔥. My favorite episode of the season so far. Tapping into reaction rn. I was a little annoyed with Tariq not having any type of involvement in their operation Brayden has been the mastermind in almost every single operation they have had.
I think Tariq and Brayden are definitely headed for another heated confrontation later this season 😂 they both aren’t being upfront on all the stuff going on and when Brayden’s new girlfriend messes with the business deal he has with Tariq that will lead to more drama.
Thank you, Gary, for the shout-out. This week's episode had me and my comments on your last review completely DEFLATED😂😂. This episode was entertaining but I have no idea where this show is going. This episode felt very rushed and repetitive. I did like seeing the progression of Cane. I was worried when Noma stated she wanted Cane to do what was necessary like Obie used to. My initial reaction was is this a job for Dru 😅? What kind of things did Obie do to distract the men in the room😂. I was pleasantly surprised that Cane was able to handle himself effectively and I view this guy as a potential mentor for Cane. Noma gets on my nerves she is constantly degrading Cane for his relationship with Monet, but clearly, Anya runs circles around Noma and she, as her mother, allows it. I hope Davis doesn't become involved with Noma romantically. I can see him selling out Tariq for the right price. As far as Det Carter, clearly he has his own agenda. I can see Kamal falling in line right now, but I can see him potentially trying to bring Carter down if the heat gets too close to his brother Rashad. Initially, I thought Carter's wife was taken out during Ghost's and Tommy's era. However, based on his introduction and conversation with the priest his wife's unaliving happened more recently. As far as his connection to Ghost, could he be his brother? He does know how Ghost smells😂. Seriously, I am beginning to think when he told Tariq he smells like him that he was really comparing the smell to his comment of GhOst being a piece of $#!+ and not his literal smell. Kamal's legitimate lead to Zion getting shot down immediately by Carter does have me wondering if there is a connection between Det Carter and Zion. Cater's one track focus is sloppy. Speaking of sloppy, Tariq's sloppy drop of Salim/Trevor reminded me of Kanan's attempt on his father. Raq always says 2 to the chest and 1 to the head. Tariq just did 1 to the chest so Salim may make it. Richard I did like your comparison of Ghost being sloppy with Terry Silva. Brayden is telling Trouble waaay too much and I agree that she will be a serious problem for business. Brayden getting high off his supply will have consequences. Dana was 💯 with her summary of this entire episode and course correct 3.0😂. I agreed with all her points. I am still keeping my good 👁 on Janet. How does she know that Diana is pregnant? Is she snooping through the trash like she found her way into Monet's closet? If the baby is Tariq's it would be too soon for Diana to be showing. I don't trust Janet and I'm hoping Dana's theory from last week about her comes true. I didn't like that Monet was the one to tell Tariq he was the daddy. How would she know if it took Janet to tell her Diana was pregnant.....make it make sense😂. I guess Effie's conversation with Tariq about trust needs to resonate louder and stick so Tariq can get off the checker board this week and back on the Chess board for the mid-season finale. This episode does not have me excited for next week. I saw the trailer and that didn't peak my interest. I will watch, but they better come correct. Shout out to Pinky for holding things down and staying in the shadows😂. Great review ❤ Oh yeah, Tariq does need to suffer for some of his past deeds. He can go to jail or lose his momma.
You know I always enjoy reading your comments on these shows and we can all agree Dana was cooking with her takeaways this week 😂 this episode definitely felt off with how certain things happened and played out on the show. I think when Starz announced this was going to be the last season and treated it as such that sone of the cast didn’t know it was ending that was going to make things feel very rushed with the storyline. I do like that Cane is progressing as a character and he is the best case for getting a spin-off show. As for Carter, I’m very confused on where they are going with the character 😂 We know he has some secrets and because of how he undermined Khamil in this episode and refused to talk with Zion I think that will lead to him getting exposed. As for Tariq and the messy Tejadas, I guarantee things won’t end well for those characters. Monet definitely doesn’t deserve to be a grandmother with how exceptional she was to her own children growing up 😂 I also like what you said about Salim not possibly being dead but because of how quick he was to help Diana he might be lol we will see what happens but they have a lot to live up to in the next episode to hold us over for part 2 in September lol
I feel like when it comes to the situation of who is the father of Diana’s baby one of two things is gonna happen 1 there is some kind of confirmation next episode because when Diana told Tariq it was his baby his exact words were “what that got to do with me” and it kinda seems like he wasn’t completely convinced but it was enough for him to let her live based on the way he ran out of the house and then in the trailer for the next episode he seems to be still very upset at Diana so he might question it again and it’ll either be proven that it’s child or it won’t or 2 he is actually the father and they’ll never get into the possibility of salim being the father and it’s just chalked up as bad writing
I think you are 100% right about this. I saw the trailer for the next episode and there was a scene of Diana getting an ultrasound with Tariq upset so I look forward to them diving into this further next week.
Just a heads up guys there was some audio problems on this episode with Dana and Gary. Kept getting static feedback from Gary now and again and Dana‘s background noise were really loud. Couldn’t hear what she was saying at times.
