Great video! Besides the half million times i heard BASICALLY.😂 So "basically", you make it as simple as possible to understand. THX for this! I basically looked at several of these videos bc I pick up a jack from my grandmother's bc the one I had on my 16' trailer basically locked up on me, and she had this one laying around. It definitely needed to be takin apart and cleaned up as its been laying around for years. You made it look easy enough so "basically"😂thx for the tutorial.💯👌💯 lol, just yankin ur chain bud. 😅😅😅 GOOD JOB
Thanks so much for the detailed video The pin broke on the crank arm. So we couldn’t go fishing today but at least it’s a pretty easy fix Heading to the hardware store to get a new pin and hopefully be able to get out fishing in the morning
2008 Merc Opti 250 - first holeshot of the year, it was bogged down so bad, I thought the boat was filling with water. Eventually it gained enough power to get to plane - then was fine the rest of the day. I had a reoccurring nightmare of when the coil went on me in 2010. Is there a more common coil that goes bad? (plug 6 or plug 1?)...I may grab one and a set of spark plugs - they're likely 5 seasons old. :(
no not that i've come across. Any coil can go. Get yourself a spark plug tester and then you can figure out if it's a coil. Also have a look at your tracker valve. That can cause issues also. I have a video on the channel for this.
@@topgunbass I had a look last night and I possibly found an issue - the top two spark plug boots on the right, had nearly slid off, but when I pushed them back up, they could easily be slid back off - gunna go grab a bunch of 6inch plug/boot combos today and get some dielectric grease on them. Also, my fuel filter was black....that's been changed now...and I see two white inline fuel filters as well, going to hunt those down today and change them. Redoing my lower unit oil last night(cuz I don't trust the dealer now) I also found the screw behind the prop seemed a bit less than tight tight - the oil was grey, which I believe is some water in the lower unit gear case. Great. So glad I spent the $440 on service at the dealer last fall. ffs - need a new dealer. Hmmm...where are yoooooou located? lol
@@Crushin123 you've been busy. Nice to see you figuring out your motor and changing a few things. Make sure you remember the correct orientation of those white filters when you put them back.
I have a 200 xr6, is it the same concept for I took it to a shot they said it was fuel pump but yet after going on the water I can't go over 5 mph and still bogs down I shut engine off then it will run but still a bogs out once I'm getting up to speed. Any idea thanks
Check the tracker valve. I had mine go a few times. Check the plugs and coils. It's the simple things first. It's possible it's the fuel pump but I'd Check the others first.
@joshbirtchetfishing5196 it's a small diaphragm that regulates the fuel pressure. It it gets damaged you will have problems. You can get rough idle, or stall outs loss of power.
Mine was rough idling and stalling in idle. If yours is reving high in neutral I would look at the throttle can cables or if you have a hot foot. It may not be returning to normal.
Thanks for the proper method. Now that I see how this works I am just going to open the cap, extend the wheel and pack a bunch of grease down without disassembly. This is not the Alaska flight 261 MD-80 type of problem I need to solve.
a long t handle allen wrench works very well...also utilize a c clamp to assist in compressing spring for tension spring for removal and installation...this works very well and you can avoid issues with a little care...thanks for the informative video
Have a 1998 mariner 135 optimax dfi Having trouble starting but if I hold down on the valstim. Of the airside it will try to start but won't stay running? Could that be my tracker valve bad
It's possible. You can easily take it out and inspect it. There are so many things with these motors that can go wrong or cause issues. Good thing is you can do several yourself to save time and money.
I was having the same issues on the water so I cleaned out the vapor separator tank went to put that back on had problems with the needle seating. I got that fixed now I’m having problems with it turning over. Do you think this may be the problem? The valve stem that you were talking about in the video I pushed on the one that’s on the vapor separator tank. I pushed on the one on the first rail and I pushed on the valve next to the rail you were working on all of them seem to get gas to come out except for the opposite rail that you were working on. I get a lot of air and then when the gas comes out and I let go the motor stops trying. It’s almost like it looks like it’s breathing air pushing out some gas sucking in air pushing gas out
Hey man great video. I have a 115 pro xs having the same rough idling issue and stalling at low RPMS. The question I have for you is whenever you knew yours was going bad was it running fine higher in the RPM range? And did you ever have any issue of the motor loosing power after WOT for a minute or so?
At wot it was fine. I say fine it was less noticable. Not sure how long it would have lasted ignoring it. But at lower rpm I knew something was wrong. I didn't lose any power. I did have trouble starting it and then stall.
You have to look up the part number through the online parts list. Select the engine that falls in your serial number range and then click on fuel rails > then it will show you part number for air regulator kit. Mine is 8M6002988. Then you can look up online to get it from a retailer.
Must be a crowd of Americans watching this: "Don't buy something well constructed and care for it so it lasts a long time. Better to buy things that are cheap and crappy and just keep spending money to replace them when they fail from lack of care!!!" 🙄 What is it with these people and "basically"? If it's not "it was like" it's "basically". What the heck is the purpose of that word in your narration???
@@topgunbass dad gave me his 2002 200 hp merc on a bass cat because of his declining health. it sat for a few yrs but ran great at first. The last 2 times out it started and died 3-4 times at first then ran great all day. others mentioned this valve being bad?? has these symptoms?
Hey pal ! Great Info . Question . I was told by my dealer . Fogging oil is not necessary for 2016 optimax. I've had since new . So should I be fogging for winter?
Thanks for the great video... I tried all those spots and I guess my cable is just snapped somewhere inside the sleeve. So I worked on it a bit more and found i had not wrapped the cables around the drum head enough and once I turned it and tightened them up on the black drum head it worked fine. This video taught me a lot about it for sure.
I have 5 of these swinging away jacks that are pretty much froze up So basically the costs would be kind of high So I just basically watched this video now basically I know how to repair them
No the diaphragm gets cracks in it and no longer regulates the fuel. That causes the motor to stall out and rough idle. Oddly I was able to get on plane and run but I didnt push it. The more it deteriorates the worse it gets.
If there are any tears on it even if it hasn't gone through it will need to be replaced. If you are getting rough idle with stalls it is probably the problem. I've had both the fuel and air side go. So sometimes it can be both.
@@topgunbass definitely needs replaced. Rough idles and stalls out, especially when I put it in gear. I wanna check the other side but I’m afraid I won’t get the 80lb spring back on there lol. I ordered the replacement but I’m just hoping it the other is fine haha. Thank you!
I have a 2006 optimax 150 what was the system s you new it was bad ? Was it motor reving up in neutral forward plz any help would be great .mines acting up big time I thought I broke a throttel cable or shift cable
No mine was just rough idling. Sometimes stall out. If its reving high check your throttle position sensor. If that thing is broken it could cause that. You'll have to start slowly eliminating what it could be. Unfortunately it could be many different things.
Thank you. This is exactly what I was looking for. I am on my third set of wheels and didn’t know why the shaft kept freezing even when I was lubricating the external shaft.
Is there a permanent fix for this? My 2015 proXS 150 tears the diaphrams every year and costs me over $600.00 for parts and labor not to mention leaving me stranded miles from the boat ramp. Is there a permanent fix for this issue?
I haven't heard of a permanent fix. I guess it's up to luck to get a good valve. My original lasted for years. These new ones keep tearing. No way should this part cost 200 bucks.
From what i've read, the purple ones are the newest versions, do you know what colors they installed? could have been the brown or green ones that were superceded. Also, non ethanol fuel really helps if it's available to you.
