LOL, I just dont have the time anymore. I have a 2014 RAM 1500 with the same ISB170 and an 8 speed auto that I'm trying to finish in 2025 that will be for sale. ;>)
I have a 2011 3.7 auto 4x4 I'm thinking of doing a swap my question is how did you get your transfer case to work after you did the swap because if I'm not mistaken the ECM and TCM are 1 unit
2011 is going to have even more Canbus control making it harder, I had 4X4 high but not 4X4 low. Are you going to stay with the auto? The hard part is getting the ECU/TCM to realize there is an engine running. That is my problem with the 2014 RAM1500 that I'm working on now. I have the Hemi crank sensor installed on the Cummins but still missing something to get the ECU to confirm a running engine. I used HP Tuners to turn off most of the engine sensors including cam but it's still not recognizing a running engine.
@@robertbell537 I have done a few TDI swaps and I would not do a Dakota. Just too heavy and too much load for the TDI. The JKU one that I did is a bit of a slug and works that TDI hard on long hills. The Dakota is at least a few hundred pounds heavier than the JKU. Engine to trans adapters are always something to consider when doing a swap unless you have the machines to do that. Also aftermarket performance upgrades are nice to have when dropping a smaller diesel into a larger truck.
Absolutely gorgeous truck, and I love his consistency. It can be hard to find 4bt's, and instead of putting any old motor in, not only did he get a 4bt, but he got a 4bt that would have come original in the truck had dodge ever made a cummins dakota. Bravo, this make me want to do my own swap.
Impresionante. Tengo una aqui en Colombia 🇨🇴 suramerica pienso cambiarle el motor bo se si tu caja es la misma automática o le colocaste otra y si fue asi cual le adaptaste.
Ive always wanted to do a 4bt Dakota swap and i just put it off for years. Seen this video awhile back convinced me to do the 3rd gen so proud to say now a proud owner of a 2010.
Looking for details on the Ram ISB170 swap. Commented on the 4BTswaps page, my ecodiesel spun a rod bearing looking to do what you did with ISB170 and keep ZF8HP75 transmission.
I always thought the third gen Dakota’s looked a bit goofy. The changes you made make this truck look great. It’s the best looking 3rd gen I’ve seen. Nice work.
Way cheaper to do the 2L VW TDI and probably better power. A few guys have done them in Dakota's and they work well. We have one in an 08 JKU and love the 30 MPG fuel economy. TDC will have the adapter for that. us.tdconversions.com/dodge
@@livebaitadventures420 Just a 4 hr trip towing our 5th wheel and it was doing 16MPG. Still have trans programming to do which should get me another 2-3 MPG.
The front is just the 2" leveling spacers and the rear is done with the air bags. The front diff was dropped to give more oil pan clearance so the axle geometry is still good.
Thanks, those engines were in delivery vans like UPS trucks in 2000-2004? You can find them online at truck wreckers. Just about have my new one finished. 2014 Ram 1500 with the same ISB170 and the 8 speed auto.
@@ofdtdconversions8445 that's awesome man. I have a 99 Durango that I want to diesel swap. It's my mountain vehicle and tows my pop up. Was looking at the r2.8 but I really like the power potential of these 170's never even heard of them until today. What did you pay for one? And did you get the factory harness and computer?
