2008 Dakota SLT was converted to a Cummins ISB170 diesel in 2012.
Engine has a 200HP Tune with 450 lb/ft of torque, Upgraded to 60HP BD injector tips, Holset HX30 turbo and Magnaflow exhaust.
NV4500 5 speed manual transmission
Onboard air for rear air bags and running tools.
286-65-18 BFG KO2 tires
Isspro gauge set

Absolutely gorgeous truck, and I love his consistency. It can be hard to find 4bt's, and instead of putting any old motor in, not only did he get a 4bt, but he got a 4bt that would have come original in the truck had dodge ever made a cummins dakota. Bravo, this make me want to do my own swap.

I always thought the third gen Dakota’s looked a bit goofy. The changes you made make this truck look great. It’s the best looking 3rd gen I’ve seen. Nice work.

Thanks, I don't like the 05-07 but the changes to the 08+ trucks made a nice change

Ive always wanted to do a 4bt Dakota swap and i just put it off for years. Seen this video awhile back convinced me to do the 3rd gen so proud to say now a proud owner of a 2010.

Did you have to make any changes to the firewall to get the engine to fit? I remember having to do some serious work to get a 5.9 in my ‘04

I have a 2011 3.7 auto 4x4 I'm thinking of doing a swap my question is how did you get your transfer case to work after you did the swap because if I'm not mistaken the ECM and TCM are 1 unit

2011 is going to have even more Canbus control making it harder, I had 4X4 high but not 4X4 low. Are you going to stay with the auto? The hard part is getting the ECU/TCM to realize there is an engine running. That is my problem with the 2014 RAM1500 that I'm working on now. I have the Hemi crank sensor installed on the Cummins but still missing something to get the ECU to confirm a running engine. I used HP Tuners to turn off most of the engine sensors including cam but it's still not recognizing a running engine.

@@robertbell537 I have done a few TDI swaps and I would not do a Dakota. Just too heavy and too much load for the TDI. The JKU one that I did is a bit of a slug and works that TDI hard on long hills. The Dakota is at least a few hundred pounds heavier than the JKU. Engine to trans adapters are always something to consider when doing a swap unless you have the machines to do that. Also aftermarket performance upgrades are nice to have when dropping a smaller diesel into a larger truck.

Its towed our 20' 5th wheel all over North America for 7 years, about 4500lbs and don't really know its there. Also gets about 22MPG towing.

Any engine swap is a challenge. The Cummins is a bit more difficult due to its height.

@@emirhanpolatc8939 Stock the ISB170 is 170HP and 425lb/ft of torque. Mine has a few mods so I estimate it at 225HP and 450lb/ft.
