Thank you so much for visiting I Love Ikebana! Are you interested in learning Ikebana, Japanese art of flower arrangement, but don't know where to start? Then you came to the right place!
My name is Akemi Sagawa, and I'm a Sogetsu Ikebana instructor. I received my teaching certificate in 2000, and have been teaching Ikebana in Seattle. Due to the coronavirus outbreak, and in response to requests from my existing students, I started an online Ikebana class in May, 2020.
On this channel, you will find step-by-step tutorials and useful tips for making a beautiful Ikebana arrangement.

Thank you for such a clear video and explanation. I would like to ask you a few questions. 1- Is it possible to cover the kenzan with pebbles or other materials? 2-Is it possible to colour the flowers with spray paint in order to create new colours. 3- The suiban is always rounded or can it be in other shapes too? Thank you so much for your time.
Thank you so much mam.Inspite of watching so many videos on ikebana, this is the first one where your explanation was v.clear.I now understand the basics of using sogie.thank you
Thank you for these tutorials! I have wanted to make an autumn arrangement with my artificial fall leaves, but didn't know what to do with them. They will make great Shin and Soy for my mostly orange Imari vase. I haven't chosen the flowers yet, but I'm thinking about something yellow. 👍😄🍁🍁🌻
This vase has an inner lip? Is there a place where i can find one? I'd like to try the branches but it looks like the lip supports them next just the tension.
During the lesson in Seattle I tried arranging in a vase again. It was very inspiring for me. Dear Akemi, thank you very much. I am looking forward to meeting you on next lesson - on line. Yours Sincerely Lenka. :-)
I’ve been fascinated by the traditional Japanese arts for a while now. I’ve been reading a couple books, but this helped clarify some things. My intention is to eventually combine my interests in ikebana and watercolor and create watercolor paintings influenced by Chinese brush painting and sumie of my arrangements.
You can buy the book through a certified Sogetsu teacher. I hope you can find somebody where you live. Of you can order directly from Sogetsu Headquarters. Here is the URL of Sogetsu Headquarters. www.sogetsu.or.jp/e/shop/
