Hey, my name Is Dan I am All- American swimmer and owner of NYC based swim school. I have been teaching the art of swimming since 2008. I am sharing tips and tricks that have helped a countless number of my student to gain knowledge of swimming.
This was an amazing video. Thanks so much to both of you. This discussion helped to put fear into a perspective I've never understood before. I very much hope this will help me overcome the anxieties I experienced in the pool, as well as other areas of my life.
Then there is me.. a rock that sinks to the bottom no matter what I do. I’m 34. Been through many swim classes ironically the 1 thing nobody could teach me… how to float. I don’t think I’ll ever be lucky enough feel that simple feeling everyone else can experience.. float on water. Life truly sucks in every aspect
Я учусь плавать самостоятельно, с удовольствием смотрю ролики такие, на них тоже учусь. Огромное спасибо за эти ролики. Они помогают мне. Очень Рада, когда у меня получается правильно плыть!
I thought I couldn't float on my back but I learned in boot camp it took me almost 2 months to do, always make sure your shoulders are under the surface of the water before calmly laying back and we were told to face the ceiling while laid back.
This was helpful. I've seen the usual lists of technique problems and none of them have explained why my kicks barely get me across the pool... even the swim coaches are a little stumped. This has a few more things that I can look into.
My kicking is a s**t show. Can't seem to coordinate legs and arms together! I'm getting close to under 2.00min/100m but kicking is definitely holding me back!
I just started going to the pool last week to get a different type of exercise, and have been treading water just for a minute at a time with other stuff in between, because I realised I am sorely lacking in that area. (with plans to increase the time gradually). I'm an opera singer and with that I learned how to exhale slowly and controlled while keeping my ribcage still open and keeping air inside - it was a thing I was taught too, always make sure there is air still there. So I have been doing that (like what you mentioned in the video), and it keeps me afloat but it's still incredibly hard work, so tonight I decided to look up how to do it better and came across your video. found a few things already that now make sense about why I am finding it so hard. Looking forward to trying some of the things in the video next time I go and comparing! thank you!!
