Beauty in solid edges, big massive impenetrable edge. And the vocalist is working on his plastic bag, happy to give a mic to the audience. Superior The Fall.
What is interesting here is that Karl Burns was always one to watch in the earlier Fall videos. He was wonderful in front of the camera and game to play the performer game. As was Brix, and Mark E. These 3 and Marcia seemed to be the show people of the group. I wonder if that same energy leads to Karl not putting up with shit in this case. Appreciated.
Sean, if you are the Sean from the band, PLEASE, upload Fun Fun Fun. Been looking that song for ages! Best wishes from Venezuela, man! Your band was truly amazing!
The only people who go on and on about Mark e Smith being a genious....are losers and the dregs of human life. Imagine working every day of your life with him. Messing about with your equipment behind your back. I would have fossilised his face in the nearest wall. A repugnant man.
A truly miserable spectacle this. I saw them shortly before this in Cambridge U.K and there was clearly conflict going on, but it made for quite an exciting and entertaining night out, MES was dismantling the microphones on the drums and turning the amps up and down...till Steve threw his bass on the floor. The music was much tighter than this, almost enhanced by the tension. This N.Y.C Gig is a horrible disaster by comparison. Ugly. R.I.P Mark E Smith.
One night in Philly he sat on the floor of the stage playing with dirt and tape and messed with amps and keys and never really sang anything ...oh yeah a big wet spot in his pants too ...but they are still my favorite band for over 40 years
I saw them in Manchester in 81 & met him in the bogs before - he was sober as a sober judge but on stage had a transistor radio which he got distorted sounds out of, looked like he could have exploded at any moment & didn't sing or say an intelligible word. They were brilliant.
Read Steve Hanley's book and remember that no matter how low you're feeling, at least you weren't a member of the Fall. Some seriously depressing moments towards the end of that read.
