I was a two time all American basketball player. I was 6'1" and weighed 160. " Bulk up! Bulk up! I bulked up to 180. Much Stronger, but I was not as quick and could not jump as high! I dropped back down by not over eating -- super high metabolism. I played so much better being my natural weight. I know it is a different sport, but I believe the extra bulk is slowing you down. You say, "I am getting faster though". Yes, you are--you are maturing, but you are a cheetah not a mointain lion! Lord Bless!
Hi Matthew. You went out way too fast in all 3 your races at the US trials. You need to go out slower and learn to conserve your energy better. All the world record were recently run when the 1st 100m was slower that normal. Butch Reynolds had a sluggish start when he ran his worrd record. You could have placed in the top 3 at the trial if you went out on 11 for your 1st 100m or 21.3 tot 21.5 for your 1st 200m. Please try going out slower. That way you could go places in the 400m. I really hope you get a relay spot. That js why the 400m is still the right choice for you I think.😃🏆👍
We do not know Matthew Bolling much in Europe, but I am a big fan from France. Saw him in the 100 heats in Eugene. So surprizing to pick this distance. I hope dearly to see him in the 4×400 in Paris. I think he could be a great decathlete.
These videos are getting better. You have to get comfortable being yourself and vulnerable. That is when they will get authentic. Its happening. The best part of these videos is seeing what the reality of being a professional runner is like. The side not seen on camera for a few seconds when you run.
Matt,I saw you run a 43.85-44s leadoff 4×400m leg very recently from the blocks which is the only non momentum time on those relays. That proves you're physically capable of running under 44 sec 400m in prime race conditions. Why is it in open races there seems to a lag in your time performance there? Is there a mentoring problem in who trains you or don't you believe you can beat the best yet? I believe you are able to Matt but YOU have to believe that. Please go for it in the biggest races yet of your life you're about to run! You're also capable of jumping considerably over 8 meters.I believe you could and should already have some world medals there as well.
