The music sounds like the kind used in crime dramas or detective shows. Interesting music! And turntable.

Beautiful fusion music! There are two records by this artist on RU-vid. I didn't know him before. 👍

I never met him but he was a good friend of the engineer at the cable station. I downloaded his other album years ago. This one I think is better.

The PS-LX230 and PS-LX430 (in Europe PS-LX231 and PS-LX431) were Sony's last turntables. LX231 was semi automatic. The European versions had an integrated cartridge, no t4p p-mount. The holes on the platter mat must be open. It used for the automatic size selection.

Yes I know that the system uses optical detection however with the recent colored / clear vinyl you pretty much have to operate them this way or they won't start at all. It will detect no record and just stop.

Turntables from this era were the best. Anything from the 90's back were well constructed. And I bet you the specs of these are better than any REGA or PROJECT from today. And you do not have to pay £600+ to have one...

Im with you on regas but project makes kickass tt for the money, used to have a pj debut carbon i have nothing negative to say about it, something Else with the rega rp3 i sold to get it tho. Never going back to tt with No suspension

@@Error2username the wow and flutter specifications are terrible. I've had a Project. They have a spec of 0.17. My new old stock JVC AL-E700 Linear Tracking Turntable is at 0.045% They don't make them like they used to.

It's a P mount cartridge setup..that stinks! No way. As far as your comment about room treatment, I don't go that far, that's for recording studios and mastering suites. I don't go that far. Your interpretation what's sound good to you may not apply to me Dave. Your taste in music when testing your repairs on RU-vid despite the copyright issues I don't like. I'm not a jazz person though jazz once in a while I don't mind in great blue moon. My taste is classic Rock and pop from the 70s is my main genre!! I use the EQ and my mixing console to compensate my hearing loss even with hearing aids. My speakers are JBL's. One of the most famous recognized brands in the entertainment industry professional and consumer home audio speakers. My crossover network was redesign by a professional JBL engineer who retired at the time I felt the network needed rework to fit my taste of sound. And was a good friend of mine. I even remember asking him his thoughts me adding a EQ to my system. He stated that its a personal decision. There's no right or wrong about it. Just know how to use it properly or you could mess up the sound real bad. That wasn't a problem as I had professional training on sound reinforcement.

P mount was a superior mount. No other system could get the tracking as close to perfect as the p mount. The problem was it hit the market right at the end of the run for turntables, and even though there were some very high end MC cartridges, when the CD killed vinyl sales these manufactures disappeared quickly. A few have returned but nothing like was expected. Had vinyl not died so quickly in the 80s every turntable would have supported P mount. I read a few papers on it, and it was very accurate. Took the guess work out of set up which 99 out of 100 have set incorrectly. Even those with their protractor and overhand gauge get it wrong more often than they get it correct. p mount was 100% correct each and every time. I never made any statement about room treatment. Someone else chimed in on that. I commented that with good speakers and a good amplifier equalization is totally unnecessary. I used to think running EQ sounded good until I heard a good system, with good speakers. That's when I dumped my EQ. The DC button is pressed on my amplifier and my system sounds fantastic not only to my ears but to everyone I have played it to. Its not bass or treble heavy. The mids are extremely clear, and as my audiophile friend told me, if you don't get the mids right nothing else matters. It doesn't matter what I put on, Rock, Metal, Jazz Classical, it all sounds fantastic, and when I play a live recording it sounds like you are right there listening to a live performance. For vinyl though speakers really don't matter because vinyl, and cassette tape was and always will be shit. Anyone that thinks that vinyl or cassettes sound better reeally doesn't know what good sound it or they are tone deaf. I'm running Altec Lansing, JB Lansing's brother. The voice of the theatre, as well as B&W, and some high end Polk. Each speaker setup has their own sound. As to jazz, that is what old rock stars play once they learn to play. Its musicians music. Like a language all it's own. You either understand it, or you don't. I will listen to pretty much anything except RAP.

Nothing wrong with the P-mount. Only morons poo- poo the P-mount.
@12voltvids
@12voltvids 22 дня назад
@@PoppinWheeliez Correct. It was probably the most important development in turn tables. Every manufacture was on board. Carbon fiber tone arms, p-mount cartridge. I remember going to sales seminars (because we would need to service them eventually) where they had engineers from Technics (panasonic) showing us the difference in tracking and distortion and the p mount tracked with the best of them. A p mount on a linear tracker was literally perfect. They had test records and scopes and did a demo. One engineer spent about 15 minutes with protractors and overhand gauges etc setting up a conventional tone arm on an SL1200, then popped a cartridge into the SLM1 and it was perfect. That was one of the reasons I ended up with an SLM1. The audiophools were grumbling about them back in the 80's, I see nothing has changed in 40 years. We don't call them audioFOOS for nothing.

Why? If it works and does the job decently enough... Sure, it's not the most well built turntable that Sony has ever turned out and there are better turntables out there, but this one is also not bad. If all it needs is a little tweaking to get the speed right, then it beats spending more money getting another turntable. The only reason to get something better is that if you really care to ... and that would be up to the customer who owns that equipment.
