Agree that this is how it should be seen, an homage to thrash metal essentially which sparked everything else. I may not be a fan of this album or really the genre in general, outside of a few obvious names, but its obvious to me what this is.
@@patrickbertlein4626 I've been playing guitar since 1994 and I remember when Sepultura released ChaosAD I bought it at the time (vinyl). And Andreas Kisser's footprint is missing.
Rectifier sim and a Mesa oversized cab IR, studied a lot of Erik Rutan behind the scenes stuff with various bands to see how he was handling low tuned guitars.
I’ve stayed out of the Sepultura/Cavalera stuff for a long time but this whole Sepultura ending and 40 year celebration really rubbed me the wrong way. Kisser can’t even acknowledge the Cavalera’s starting that band before he was even a member. I enjoy the re-recording for what they are but I’m glad they also have that “remember where it started” vibe to them.
I haven’t experienced any neck dive. About to overhaul this though with a tonepros bridge and tail piece, hip shot locking tuners and I think I’m going with Seymour Duncan Black Winter pickups. I kinda like the sound it has for what I used it for but I want something a little more robust so it’s useable for anything I do.
@GhostDragon1182 l saw an interview with them where they were asked if they could make an album as good as demanufacture again and they basically said, of course not, we don't even know how we made that album
@@TCM215 probably a lot of it is because they changed the arrangements so many times during recording that Dino played the bass because it was easier than having Christian learn the new arrangement each time.
@@GhostDragon1182 I noticed that too, and the replacements are $400 - $500 more, and not as much of a fan of the new colors, although I have a ESP LTD EC 1001 (I haven't seen another 1001 since) Floyd rose model that's similar to the new colors for the Arrow 1000 that I like a lot. I love the feel of the ESP necks too. A lot of bang for the buck in my opinion.
@@curtdkrueger looking more into it, a lot of stuff is gone so they might be doing a mid year revamp. I do have my fingers crossed for a white arrow with these specs. But pretty much every LTD I bought in the last 2 years is gone from their site.
Been playing Explorers since 1981. This Explorer is very nice with its neck binding and special neck profile. I have this one and an Explorer CMT EX2 flamed maple top tobacco burst from '81, but this 70s explorer has better playability with its slimmer neck profile and bigger (taller) fretwire. Having said this, I still enjoy playing my old Explorer CMT as well because I had jumbo fret wire installed on it around 2005 when I realized they were right for me and helped improve my playing all around. But these days, I would hate to have to choose between the two because I like both of them so much. This 70s Explorer is lighter and feels more comfortable to play, so I would probably use it for lengthy gigs. But the '81 CMT Ex2 has "Dirty Fingers" pickups, so it does a great job for playing 80's metal and rock. Again, I love them both and each has its own niche.
I’ve really come to love this guitar and thought maybe this would be a “one and done” but I’m weird and like pairs so I’m strongly considering a black B-2 Explorer (the toggle switch location is more my preference). As hyped as I was for the 80s explorer reissue there’s just something about how they look that just feels off to me. As much as I like the clean look of not having a pick guard, I’m really liking the more “traditional” explorer look more.

I recognize that the mix isn't great, hence it's a demo. I've never layered so many guitars with different tones and effects before so there's a bit of a learning curve.

It's next to impossible to get one of these but with a bit of effort, I managed to get the one in Candy Apple Red Satin. I did however manage to also get an LTD EC-1000 in Violet Andromeda. Is your Arrow there Indonesian made or Korean?
I’m somewhere in the UK. It was actually easier to get an ESP Original Series Arrow than the Violet Andromeda. Country of origin is on the back of the headstock.
Hi, what about fret wear after you used it for a while, please? On my Epiphone Les Paul Standard PlusTop Pro the fretwear is quite obvious. On the other hand, when I used to have Epiphone Les Paul Custom Prophecy EX Plus, I didn't feel any freatwear there, the frets felt of much higher quality (maybe all Customs do, I have no idea). Thanks a lot!
I haven’t noticed any obvious fret wear on any of the new Epiphones I’ve owned. However compared to most people that play the type of music I do, I use lighter strings. I used to be pretty heavy handed with my fret hand but I’ve lightened up over the years. Might not make a huge difference but worth noting. I use Ernie Ball slinky strings, nothing fancy.
@@GhostDragon1182 Thank you for valuable info. Good news, though I use Ernie Ball Power Slinky (.11) on my Epiphone Les Paul. On my ESP LTD EC-256 and my other guitars I have got Regular Slinky (.10) then. And also I play that rock & blues style solos with a lot of bending besides other techniques. Still not any pro, so my music sessions are limited, just kind of hobby. That would be great, if Epiphone improved those nickel frets composition on Standards over time. Anyway, I have my new 60s Bourbon Burst just ordered today :)
Nice on the new order, enjoy that guitar. On the fret thing, the only guitar I ever had that needed a refret was a 1980 Gibson SG. I have a Fernandes Monterey that may need one, but both of those guitars were heavily abused when I was a teenager that didn't know better.
Been lusting after this for about 2yrs. For whatever reason they never seem to have the white one in stock here in the UK. I am also part of the "Classic White 80s Explorer wish list crew" and like you I was annoyed when they released the black only and came back to it several times only to conclude each time if its not classic white I'm not interested. The white one is coming but I think I've decided that Id rather have the 70s one as the current 80s model is too far from the original specs. Im sure ill change my mind another 100 times between now and buying time though.
Over here in the states the opposite problem exists, there's a ton of these classic white ones and now I'm looking for an ebony and they're hard to find. The 80's explorer, the more I look at it the more it just kind of bums me out. There's just something off about the overall look. I hope Epiphone puts one out though. The white 80s explorer has been released a few times since this video was made but you have to order it from Gibson direct. It's dumb, they need to just put it out already to the dealers.
From what Iv heard the white 80s model has been available in really small batches and sells out immediately. They dont seem to be in any hurry to get them out which I dont understand because they’d basically be printing their own money.. who knows
@@Thirteen31Music likely scenario, they’re keeping them in small batches to keep demand up, and white is also requires more coats than black does. That’s my best guess.
