The first time this song ever blazed out of the Easter Road tannoy would have been just before kick off on Saturday 13/08/1988 for the opening game of the season against Motherwell in a game that Hibernian won 1-0 with an 85th minute Tommy McIntyre header.
That was an amazing hibs team. Scott Brown, Steven Whittaker, Derek Riordan, Stephen Fletcher, Zemmama, Benjulon, Gary Caldwell, Ivan Sproule, Kevin Thomson, so many brilliant players and a truly golden generation.
My dad died at the Dundee away game on the 9th of May 2010. I’m just starting to come back. We were at every single home game that he could take us too! Maybe someone here will remember us. Fitzpatrick. It’s took a long time to heal my heart but I’m now planning on bringing my kids through Easter Roads doors 💚
growing up in 80/90s teesside..other than boro..keith wright was and is why i love hibs..beating them cheating horrible bstrds and then topping it off against a good pars team ..istvan kozma etc...proper hibs ..full of flair..100 per cent every one of them..also at a era when the scots prem was almost on the same level as the 1st division..hibees,aberdeen,celtic,hearts and dundee utd could of easy match most english teams then.. theo snelders and hans gilhaus were in the dutch squad..! chelsea paid 1.1m for tom boyd..keith wright must of been worth about 1.75 m ..priceless ...a good team in a good era
