Would you have considered getting just the softy hitting strip and then making this custom mat around it - my concern is around the actual foot turning and torque ripping up the custom mat/green if I go down this path. But it’s a lot cheaper cost wise vs the full 4x7 softy. Any thoughts?
Good question. GSPro does have online play but I don’t think you can with the courses in these videos because they are meant to be used in Practice mode. I don’t know for sure but I don’t think you can set up online play for practice mode.
There could be. Some courses have been removed from GSPro after receiving a cease and desist letter but these are mostly famous courses we have all heard of. Some get added back after all trademarks and names are removed. For your average home course it’s unlikely to be a problem.
Looks like a really nice course, do notice a bit of a difference with GS pro and E6 as far as accuracy in data with the Mevo+? Graphics in GS pro look a lot better. Compared to your video with E6, It looked like you were having a lot more fun with this one…but maybe it’s because you shot -3 on this one compared to +5 on the other one with E6 😆
Haha it’s always more fun to play better! It’s widely accepted that GSPro has the best physics but that doesn’t mean that e6 is bad. I trust GSPro more than anything. I also don’t use E6 very often so I’m guessing a lot more as to what the ball will do in different lies or once it hits the green.
I "invented" my own wedge game on the standard practice fairway. Put it on randomizer and set to 3 shots, set desired distance range upto your maxed out PW so for me 30-138yds, then each new distance it spits out you have to hit 3 shots and you cannot repeat the club and/or the shape. Example= 62yds=draw 1/2 LW, fade 1/2 SW, low 1/4 GW. I found draws go about 2yds further, fades go 2yds shorter, choking down the grip takes distance off etc.. GSPro places rings around the pin and my scoring was inside green=3pts, inside yellow=1pts, inside red -1pts, missed all rings=-2pts. 5 greens in a row=10 bonus pts. Set a timer for 30mins and see how high you can get. It simulates a few good things all in one drill, hitting different clubs different distances and flights, simulates pressure when you start getting close to the bonus 10 points. My record so far is 58pts in 30mins, its a fun way to warm up because pretty much every shot is a partial wedge. Sorry for the wall of text but I just love gamifying practice to make it interesting, cheers mate!
Wow that’s a cool game. I would have never come up with the idea not to repeat the club or shape. The practice green works out perfectly for that too. Thanks!
Yo, cheers for all the videos and the channel! I own a mevo+ and was thinking about getting a photo unit for more accurate ball data, unfortunately Im not in the US or else I wouldve just bought the BLP ball data only unit and be done, how well does carry distances compare between Eye mini Lite and the mevo+ in your experience? is it a worthy upgrade or should I just drop the big bucks and go to the GC3?
If we are talking about indoor use for simulation, I think you are going to have a big improvement in the experience going to Eye mini lite. Chipping and putting work great at any distance and there's zero shot delay. I think carry distance with Mevo+ is a few yards short on average with driver and you will not have that problem with eye mini lite. All of the same can be said for the GC3 but there's of course a large price difference there. Personally I trust all of the data from Foresight the most but EML and GC3 are very close. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for watching!
I have the original 4x7 SIGPro Softy mat and there is some cushion to the stance portion but it is very subtle. I only really notice when I step off of it onto concrete. The new SIGPRO Super Softy mat has a completely different stance turf and it is more solid. I prefer the original. friendlygolfer.com/recommends/sig-sigpro-mats/

I don’t know for sure but I don’t believe so. I don’t see any settings to adjust resolution and I haven’t seen SKYTRAK advertise 4k anywhere. My projector is 1080.
I’m getting frustrated with my Mevo plus and ghost putting. Thinking about a launch pro instead. I remember you had one a while back? Do you still use that also?
I don't know how I survived last summer. I ended up going with a portable ac and have it vented through the wall with a dryer vent. I didn't want to pay for the mini split. It doesn't really cool the garage but it points right at me and makes a significant difference. Without it I was dripping sweat within 10 minutes or so.
Hi, not related to the Mevo+, but does the Net Return Pro discount code that's advertised here still work? I tried applying to my order the other day, and it didn't seem to work. Thanks!
It has stopped working for the past month. I've sent multiple emails and phone calls to them with no response. I was waiting for some kind of response but I'm going to remove my links and codes for them soon. Sorry about that! I liked their net while I had it but I don't know what's going on with that.
Net return finally got back to me and updated the discount code to: FRIENDLYGOLFER24 They said my emails were going to spam and they had disabled my old code because it ended up on some spammy coupon sites. Sorry about all that, hope it's not too late.
Im seriously torn between the Eye mini Lite and the Bushnell launch pro. The $750 a year for the launch pro (and gspro as I hear the software included with the $500 is trash) is scaring me away, is it worth it or would you say the software included with the $200 Eye mini lite is good enough?
In my opinion you would want GSPro either way. Calling FSX software trash is an exaggeration. I've got videos on my channel of FSX Pro, FSX 2020, and FSX Play and even though there are flaws (especially with Play) there's still a lot that you can do with it. When it comes to simulation, GSPro is just more of a complete software for gameplay and more fun in a lot of ways. So the total subscription difference including gspro is $300 + the difference in the hardware. So if you don't want portability and you think you're good with primarily using GSPro you can save some decent money. If I had to pick one that was most accurate I would say the BLP but the difference would be pretty minimal. It's really dependent on what each person's priorities are but hopefully that helps some. If you want to go in more detail feel free to email me: bobby@friendlygolfer.com
Another question. I plan to use it in a garage setup where I will have to move it each time. It’s light weight is a factor as well is the hitting strip reviews. Will it hold up with moving each time in your opinion?
Thanks for the great review. I have the Balance Optix but can't work out how to connect with wifi - connecting my PC to the Balance Optix wifi network causes my PC to drop connection to the general Wifi, so Uneekor launcher etc won't then work. Any tips greatly appreciated, thanks!
In my case my laptop is connected to the internet via Ethernet and then I’m using the WiFi only to connect to the balance optix. If you can’t do that you may have to stick to connecting to the balance optix via Ethernet and using WiFi for internet connection.
The best choice would be the Uneekor Swing Optix system: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-djm2MFVBo1E.html For something more affordable these Kayeton cameras work just fine: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lUviBOJUuPE.html Keep in mind, some features like the AI Trainer only work with the Uneekor Swing Optix cameras. Hope that helps.
That’s true. Skytrak did not like this putter with GSPro on short putts and caused it to glitch. I should try these skytrak courses with a different putter too.
Unfortunately putting and chipping is not a strength for Mevo+. Chipping is not too bad but it will struggle to read a short chip when you are very close to the hole (probably around 5 yards or less). Putting is not really worth it at all from my experience but I'm thinking about doing some more testing and doing a Mevo+ putting video soon. If you want perfect putting and chipping for sim golf you need a camera-based launch monitor. I recommend Foresight and Uneekor.
Great video! It looks like Amazon has 1080p @ 60fps or 720p @ 120fps cameras under the brand IFWATER for a few bucks cheaper and more reasonable delivery options. They look VERY similar. I'm waiting for prime day to see if there are any deals, but have you heard anything about them or tried them?
I have a SkyTrak + I just received and I was planning on running e6 connect with an iPad… would you say that setup would be worth it while I get my feet wet into the sim world? I’m saving for a projector and hitting screen but for now it’ll be an iPad to TV with a hitting net.
I started with a Mevo+, net, iPad and a TV. It's a slippery slope! It didn't take long and I went on to a Launch Pro, gaming laptop and full simulator with GSPro.
In your opinion…. What’s the best ( without breaking the bank) launch monitor for in home simulator ????? Putting and chipping…… Mevo plus Uneekor Bushnell launch pro Etc ……. Thanks !!!
Great video! I'm looking to set up a golf sim with the GC3, but after seeing this and your balance mat video, I'm starting to lean towards Uneekor. If you were starting out and choosing between these, which way would you go? I want to primarily use GSPro
It can be a tough decision between those two. If you think you want to invest in other things like the swing optix cameras and the balance mat, uneekor has a better "ecosystem" of peripherals like that. If your top priority is data accuracy then I trust the GC3 more (that's not saying uneekor is bad though). Feel free to shoot me an email: Bobby@friendlygolfer.com
Fyi, The freshly release of FSGolfPC now reports all supported resolutions and frame rates for my cheap monochrome ELP high speed cameras! Check it out... Before today it was only showing a subset of them. Now I can do as fast 420fps (albeit at a very small window size).. But 640x400@ 210fps is just perfect! They also optimize performance and random crashes. Doesn't take as much time loading stuff. Still work to go but great to see.
Nice. I went down the rabbit hole and ordered a limited edition today. Going to just set up on a Spornia net / tv and build over time. I've watched a bunch of your vids and thanks for your contributions.
ground based "lidar" scanner would not be practical in creating a point cloud that covers 1 to 2 square miles of terrain used to construct the course. I believe handheld lidar has been used to recreate 3d structures like statues and such by a couple of designers. This kind of 'lower powered infrared lasers pulses are also used in apple face ID on your iPhone.
Have you seen askgolfnut (jay smith?) video on fiducial placement? Online says TXG guys also go lower. Just curious your thoughts if you have tested with this
I’ll be waiting for the release on iPads. I’m not going to get a gaming PC/laptop, plus spend another 2-300 for this upgrade. I have the iPad and I already had the play and improve 250/year package with E6 and WGT. So I guess I’m not too sure I’ll even upgrade to this because it’s what, like 500 total after year or something crazy like that? Might as well just get GSPro at that rate… cheaper and more options. Unless I’ve got the pricing wrong but it seems to be a lot more to get this over GSPro…
Hi. Thanks for the video. I have just received my Skytrak +. and trying to get GSPRO working. Just wondering which software do you prefer on your Skytrak. GSPRO , Skytrak or maybe TGC2019? Thanks
I prefer GSPro over anything else but to be fair I’ve never used TGC2019. Maybe the skytrak courses we’ll get there eventually but I consider GSPro to be more of a complete game with lie penalties and all kinds of customization in the settings.
Thanks for reviewing a course other than Pebble Beach! 😊 I think the consensus is putting on the ST+ is a lot slower than GSPro. I’m sure that will probably change. Also, I chuckled when you mentioned something about driver distance - it’s like the ST+ said “watch this..” LOL Quick question - are you getting any disconnects when using your ST+ in network mode? I can almost guarantee a disconnect at 20-25 shots which makes me reboot the device. Thanks again for the video!
Ha! I purposely chose something other than pebble beach so glad you liked it! I got a disconnect recently and had to restart but I haven’t noticed a pattern on timing. I wonder what’s going on there…
@friendlygolferdotcom yea I have eye mini lite. I can't quite figure it out enough to explain it. I'm going to try the Stimp meter thing and do some measurements.
@@mrserv0n18that makes sense. My eye mini putts very fast on GSPro compared to my GCQuad. Not sure which is more correct. Once you get used to whatever you’re using I find the putting on GSPro to be great.
I totally agree on the eye mini putting fast. I have my stimp on 8 and it feels like 10 or 11. The disconnect for me is I physically see the ball roll 3 or 4 feet, yet in game it rolls 10.
why people want to putt in a sim will forever be a mystery to me. their golf sandals must be on too tight or something, cutting off circulation to the brain.
In most of my videos you will see my 8.5x11 Carl's place enclosure: friendlygolfer.com/recommends/carls-place-diy-enclosures/ In my most recent videos (the last month or so) I'm using a SIG10 Enclosure: friendlygolfer.com/recommends/sig-sig10-enclosure/
Thanks for letting me know. I just emailed Flightscope to get it corrected. It seems to be working for the add-ons but not the Mevo+. I'll reply when I get it fixed.
I just checked and it's working now. I haven't heard back from Flightscope since I emailed after hours so not sure what happened but like I said it's working now. Thanks again for letting me know.
@@mikebarnblatt4069 Putting and chipping are not a strength for the mevo plus or any radar launch monitor. I find that chipping is not too bad in GSPro but you will have some missed shots on any super short chips. Putting in my experience is just not worth bothering with it. For perfect putting and chipping you would want to go with a camera based launch monitor like Foresight or Uneekor. My screen is roughly 8x10.5. I’m currently using the SIG10 enclosure friendlygolfer.com/recommends/sig-enclosures/ but in my older videos I was using the Carl’s 8x10.5 enclosure friendlygolfer.com/recommends/carls-place-diy-enclosures/ Hope that helps!
