Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts! Appreciate the nod to our SIM building tool as well, it's still fairly new and we're working hard to keep adding to it!
I bought a sig pro softy mat and love it. The screens and enclosures are nice but I needed something retractable. I ended up getting a 13’ Metech motorized roller and put a 12’ spectrum golf sim “poly spacer for sport screen” on it and it works great. Very easy to setup and It was less than $900 all together. Best part is I can still park my truck in my garage!
Nice intro video. Was this setup supplied to you by the Indoor Golf Shop? Why did you feel the need to change to this from your Carl's Place setup? The Carl's enclosure looked just fine also.
Thank you! I’m an affiliate for both Carl’s and Indoor Golf Shop so I refer people to both for different reasons. I’ve never used or even seen the SIG enclosures in person so they offered to send me one. Now I can give people a better idea of both when they’re trying to build their simulators. I’ll keep the Carl’s enclosure and maybe go back to it after six months or so.
A sound measurement test of this screen vs.carls place vs net (no screen) would be cool. I'd be interested in what is the quietest. Maybe could measure decibels on an iphone app?
Interesting thought but the sound of the club hitting the ball is way louder than the ball hitting the screen. Not sure it would make a difference overall even if one is quieter than the other. I haven't really paid attention though so I'll see what I can tell next time I'm playing.
If I understand right you're asking if there's a gap from the pipe to the edge of the screen? Once you attach the ball bungees there is no gap. The edge of the screen is touching the pipe and the cushion covers it. If I misunderstood the question let me know!
Is there a difference between quality of the materials between the SigPro and Carls Place enclosures (does the carls place material also feel like a bed sheet, any differences in the impact screen)?
The surround material from Carl's is thicker, more like a tarp. It doesn't look as smooth. The screen materials seem very similar but I think Carl's may be a little thicker and squishier. Not sure about durability yet...
So far no. The cushion seems to do it's job. I've hit a few at it and it sent the ball straight up to the screen. None have gotten under or come back at me.
purchased a sig 10 enclosure plus floor from indoor golf, along with screen , launch monitor etc. the enclosure never fit correctly the velcro is terrible, will not stay attached. had to buy pool noodles to utlize the enclosure. Their instructions were for the old version not even updated. a terrible experience and i expected indoor golf to step up but didn't happen. it just doesn't fit they finally agreed to cut some of their padding off the surround to make it work, but the pool noodles did the job, to
