My name is Cross, & I'd like to share some knowledge with you. I have been a tabletop gamer for 45+ years, & a roleplayer for all but 2 of those. I've been building gaming terrain, off and on, for 37+. In addition, I have been a game designer, LARPer, costumier, model builder & painter, CosPlayer, carpenter, & general crafter. My mix of materials & techniques may be novel, but it is tried & true, & works well with more traditional styles.
I hope this channel, & my part in it, inspires you to try your hand at crafting tabletop gaming terrain. Whether you build something you've been wanting to for awhile, or turn in a new direction, it is my dream for you to take that leap.
Please, enjoy my channel. I'm sure your creativity will be sparked.
lol what the…..that glue stick…I never seen one like that……where?¿ How?¿ That looks really good. Going to have to watch the one now in between the last two videos.
They do come in about a 3 foot coil, but that's not those. I tend to stick 2 of the 1 foot ones together, then keep them at the ready. When it starts to get too close to the gun, I attach another 2 feet of glue. 🤔 One of these days, I need to make a tips-n-tricks video... or 5. Maybe I can drop them as shorts, on all the socials
🤩🎬GREAT VIDEO🎬🤩 I’m glad I found your channel & I MOST DEFINITELY look forward to seeing MORE of your videos🔔 📺 I do mostly TRANSFORMER Stop Motion 🎬📸🎞️ I hope you enjoy my animation‼️ 20:00
Thanks, so much! That's my goal. I know there are a lot of people who want to make some of this stuff, or have some other kind of art just waiting to come out. I hope to inspire others to create. I appreciate you saying this, and for watching, in general
Thanks! So glad you like it 😀 Been liking your stuff. The Organ has so many possibilities, even using those techniques on other furniture, too. And I ❤ your suspension bridge
Totally. I toyed, for a moment, with the idea of turning them into real drawers. The tiny scale, though, made that nigh impossible. If I ever build similar, from the start, to have drawers, that might well work
@@CampaignTerrain i just Thought of just makeing multiple some with closed drawers and some open just cut off the current drawers built some fake ones out of popsicle sticks and make the front look like the original put some soup can lid metal on the back of them and a magnet on the front of the stand so you can store it ez or if you want to convert it into a different stand or if you want to make a modular open close version
The carcass ("body" in cabinetry speak) is solid. I'd have to create a void, for the drawers. If built that way, from the start, easy enough. Working with the already built piece, not worth the effort
Absolutely. Recently, I did some mental maths. By my guesstimation, I have laid over 3,000,000 individual bricks, in the last several decades. Then there are the cobbles and tiles, besides. More, more, always more
In the bottoms, to help with stability? Not a bad idea. Once these are leaned against a wall, they're stable. Stand-alone, though, they can get a little "tippy". Or were you meaning something else?
@@CampaignTerrain yup, that is what I meant for the stand alone stability. Have bolts, and if you use one of those cheap magnet sheets, it’s even better. I don’t know about the magnet spray. If that is transparent you can spray those tiles down.
I've thought of using metal under floors, and magnets in the scatter. Not sure if that will work, with my City Block Blocks, though. Might be a little dangerous, to be opening and closing sheet metal. But I like the bolts/screws idea, muchly
Those railings are perfect for elevated roads. My players characters are often drunk…and I make them suffer for it. :P They have fallen so often. They never learned.
Thanks! It really does help, having a solid workspace. I am going to add those "kick down" wheels, so I can move it. Other than that, super happy with it
Thanks. I take zero credit, except for using EVA instead of XPS or corrugated. These things are so stinkin' useful. Just about perfect for on-the-fly layouts, mid-game session
I only discovered your channel a few days ago (by a mention on another RU-vidrs video) and I am watching your videos in order from the start, really enjoying them. It's awful that RU-vid has never recommended me your videos in my feed, I have watched hundreds and hundreds, probably thousands of role playing and crafting videos over the last year. All the best, Shaun
Thank you! Such nice things to say. Likely, it hasn't recommended me because I've not posted in quite some time. A bit of real life has gotten in the way. I'm working on that. Once that settles in, I plan on releasing many more... eventually. Please be patient, and enjoy what's already here. Again, thank you so very much, for your kind words
Honestly, I had a knife close by, and that's my go-to. Never even though to rip it out. When I build more like this, I will certainly try that. Thanks for the suggestion! I hope you are enjoying my content, and appreciate your comment :)
Depends on the specific materials, in the bottle, and the mechanism. I find bottles hold up pretty well. After all, fingernail polish remover comes in PE bottles, and that's largely acetone. I have had all the gaskets blow out, in one of the sprayers, but that was because I usually don't empty out my bottles. Basically, I suggest "Always rinse thoroughly, after each use"
Glad to, and glad you liked it. I like to give a bit of a realistic idea of what goes into crafting, and into filming. I notice you seem to have better ambient lighting than I, and am tiny bit jealous. Your videos look really nice
@CampaignTerrain 💕Thank you. Constantly improving with more I learn. Our art room gets a lot of sunlight, and I use a small ring light for when it gets too dark. You have a nice space. I am looking forward to watching more of your videos. Thank y for the follow
Great! I'm glad you like it. Make sure to check out Falvador's channel; he took my idea, and improved it, by using pipe cleaners, instead string. Always cool when we can learn from each other, and teach back. If you do use these vines, drop me some pics, on FB or Insta. Thanks for watching, and the feedback 🙂
So glad you like it. I find it's especially good for single encounters, on-the-go. Carry it to where you're playing, open it up, and the set pieces are already there with you. I'd love to see pics, if you do this or similar. Thanks for watching, and your lovely comment 🙂
Yes. I had planned it, for a long time. I would never have been able to make it, without planning it out. Thank you for watching, and for your nice comment 🙂
That can work, at least on the smooth side. The foam would need to be pretty hot, first, and would need to cool, basically as it was being rolled. If the foam is cold, it won't take the texture, but too hot, and it won't keep it well. I'd say keep the heat gun close, and wear gloves which will help with the heat The patterned side absolutely will _not_ take a new texture. The manufactured pattern is quite heat resistant Great question!
Hi! You have an interesting channel. You are doing great. WoW! I wish you prosperity and success! God bless you and all your family! 🍎🍏🍐🍑🍒 W0W! Like! Very nice! Nice! Cool!
The lentil as a shield boss is a cool idea. I've been meaning to try the peppercorns-as-cabbages thing, for a bit. I never remember them, whilst at the grocery store, though 😆
