Welcome to my Adventure I'm a Solo Father of 3 Children. I Have a huge love for the ocean diving fishing boating. I'm just a giant kid at heart I love getting outdoors bikes dirtbikes 4wding camping beach walks roadtrips.
I'm a born & bred petrolhead I love all things involving internal combustion engines. v8s diesels turbos etc. I'm always swinging spanners or out cruising in the Clubsport.
I enjoy living sustainably growing vegetables making Kombucha catch and cooks etc. Why not the ocean is a free resource.
10 years ago I moved to Brisbane for a year but missed my beautiful homeland of New Zealand. I'm realising now that I've never properly explored My own backyard and the abundance of our many bountiful coastlines. so the time to delve deeper into unknown territory is at hand. I'm gonna upskill on my diving abilities and push past my comfort zones.
Please subscribe and join Me and My Children on this Journey into the depths of the ocean & the and great expanse of the land.
@jase265 Ben walked away without any damage to his head. I got bucked off the KX and broke my ribs. I agree we shouldn't have been riding without safety gear.
@jase265 💯 good advice generally I'm a safety nut I like to wear all the gear. I got boots out for Ben but neglected to grab a helmet. Broken ribs isn't much fun I won't roll the dice again I'm gonna invest in some body armour.
We go every year and the diving is amazing. I see at the end you we at Port William. We were camped at Maori Beach a month ago as well. Have you ever dived around Port Adventure.
I have a 5mm wettie reef suit. Bloody awesome suits mate. Iv had mine for 7yrs, and done all my diving around Kaikoura, Motunau and Marlborough sounds so gets a good hammering. Commercial suit would be fine, but no need for what you are doing. I use mine all year round and never cold, although im not down in the deep south.
Awesome cheers, that's the sort of feedback I was looking for👌 I'll look into a 5mm Reef suit in the summer. I find a 5mm suit more than adequate down south with the exception of winter, but I don't do much winter diving. I'm jello on you're dive locations it's amazing up Kaikoura. I'm yet to have a proper dive in the sounds, it's on my list.
I do abit of winter diving, so the suit is really well made for this. No trouble staying in the water for couple hours, but checks get pretty cold after a while 😂. Hope you find what you need to continue your passion. Amazing what Tangaroa has to offer us.
@lukewiersma7532 I'd probably be more inclined to dive over winter if I lived further north lolz. I've always had a deep connection with the ocean and it's bounty.
We sampled one Kina down Stewart Island it was yellow and tasted nice n creamy. The ones we brought home were brown n yuck as unfortunately. They grow big down south.
Cheers it's a magic part of the country I hope to get back down south before the Bluff Oyster season finishes in a couple of months. Stay tuned for more.
No idea this was my first dive in Bluff as I'm from Dunedin. I generally try to avoid sewerage outfalls, I might do some research before diving Bluff again Cheers.
It's a pretty breathtaking place to dive. This was filmed last month, so April. The water temperature was on the cooler side but I'm conditioned to cooler water living in Dunedin. I was comfortable enough in a 5mm suit but I'd wear a 7mm now it's nearly winter.
Cheers for coming along today Kyle. You've put alot of effort into your Trueno, that's one hectic engine bay. I'm loving the new GoPro hero 12 creator edition, everything is so much more crisp stabilization, audio, picture quality.
Bahaha the whole video was a bit of a laugh. I know this guy with a pretty fast Laurel he's actually RU-vid famous for reeling in this DSG Golf in the closing moments of the quarter mile, followed by some hectic as laughter 😃
@corymckenzie4078 too many RFB powers, once that RB spools up S#!+5 about to get hectic races are won, hearts are stolen, panties drop, ear drums are shattered, fan boys are made. Can't beat the note of an Rb on song, mic drop.
A sneaky peek through my videos You'll find this exact mission Ep29, Tomahawk had the perfect conditions for launching on the day. I just purchased a Bris 4.3 Inflatable, now I need to upgrade my 15hp outboard to a 30hp.
There's good paua at Blackhead. We were just catching memories walking with the kids though. I've just had a 3 day weekend down Stewart Island we caught everything. Videos will be up in a couple of days.
@@drivedivenz Great! I remember getting paua at Blackhead years ago after some rough winter weather, The outside of the shells were like the ones they sell tourists, they had been sandblasted clean! Enjoy the dives! I look forward to your next video.
I've never dived at Blackhead but I recall my Father getting a few paua there years ago. I recently watched a video on the Toby Hile RU-vid Channel he got some decent sized paua at Blackhead. It's so rough there it's no wonder the shells were sandblasted. 😅
@@drivedivenzah, you have to pick your day there. Last time I dived there it was snowing, but the ocean was dead flat. Sandfly Bay is usually productive, but it's a hell of a walk back up carrying all your gear!
@mirandahotspring4019 next time I visit Blackhead I might chuck in some dive gear. A boat would make life easier for Sandfly bay, I can't wait to test out my new inflatable arriving this week 😀
That's my best friend qualified Nanna hatch race car extraordinaire, he's actually a real nice guy and a silver tounged wizard on the mic. Check him out Big Sean Dog.
I went there without any knowledge of the area but looked for areas with rocky outcrops in the water. There's plenty of crayfish to be found so do some prospecting like I did, the hardest part was finding them legal size there's lots of small ones. Google mpi or doc if you want to know the legal size and how to measure them.
I like to deepfry my fish, cut them into bite size pieces, batter, boil in oil in a pot, comes out similar to fish n chip shop... so not terribly healthy lol
those those are banded wrasse, I've shot several, nothing wrong with them, flesh all good, but they have big thick scales so good to descale them in the water if you remember to do so, and when you filett them, avoid the gut cavity as much as possible as there's lots of bones there. Other than that, wrasse are ok eating. Nothing fancy, but ok.
you are right mate, those fish you were seeing and questioning about are "stripped wrasse" or also known as "banded wrasse" and actualy "very tasty to eat" with a large thick soft white flake, similar to butterfish.
Just an old gopro 7 silver that I put in a waterproof case, it's a pain as it has a built in battery so I cant swap batteries out and only get around 1 hour 20 of recording. I'm gonna upgrade soon to an 11 or 12 with a few spare batteries. I'd recommend atleast a gopro 7 Black so you can swap batteries and record in 4k quality 👌
I've never worked that hard on my breath hold I'm alot more comfortable in 1 to 3 metres and thats all I've needed to get a feed locally. I can go deeper I'm slowly pushing out of my comfort zones.
what a choice spot for a dive, I love how there is so much life in the water down here, we were at COLAC bay last week, just loads of Sea food in the water out there.
Hi ..like this... Even before id watched it 😂. I moved from gizzy to oamaru 5 yrs ago ..and ive only found 6 kina lol..i dnt go deep ..too chicken lol.. rock hopper
My 2 favourite things from Oamaru are Jersey Bennie potatoes and Kakanui tomotatoes. Have You had a look at Kakanui, I've heard it's good for paua. It's never too late too put on a face mask and snorkel and try diving the shallows You'd be surprised what you'll find in a metre of water.
looks like you got a good feed bro, need to work on the Audio on this one though. I suggest you mute your water audio, turn down the music to 25% when your narrating, and make sure the narrating is up so we can hear what your saying. Jealous of all this kaimoana though.
Cheers I don't put much effort into it, I'm more interested in the adventure. I'll slowly start refining my editing skills. I hear ya though the audio is a bit busy.
