Locksport - An ever growing community of hobbyists who pick locks.
Being a tinkerer from way back, what began as pastime has blossomed into an obsession. For me - the true measure of ability is documented by SPP, short for Single Pin Picking. This is why you will not see me using rapid entry tools I.e. rake, worm, comb etc. unless we are just having fun with it. We are a world wide community of many from all walks of life. We support each other like family. I'm honored to be part of Locksport. I thank you all for your continued support.

I bought this lishi from the lockpickmall. They sent me the generic version of a Lishi and nothing else! 3:20 Expensive, and they sent it in the same box as Alibaba. Please, do not buy from this website.
@@user-vw9mb4tv9k I did pop an Ace tubular lock but not sure what version. If they fit they work. Just may take a bit longer. Play with tension. Don’t be afraid to remove or add a tension band.
@@bethanyhenderson467 sorry to say but I don’t believe so. I’m pretty sure they use a slider lock. So the keys have what looks like laser cuts on the sides. You’re probably going to have to go old school, pry top edge of door open and use a coat hanger or something to either reach the keys or pop the door lock. Or pay a locksmith.
@@jessecole1011 Thanks for checking it out. I get my tools from several companies but Sparrows Lock picks is my go to place. Best bet is buy the set so you get several gauges. The even have some called heavy bars. They’re a bit thicker and great for locks like Kwickset that have wider keyways. Hope this helps. Feel free to holler at me anytime. I will help any way I can. Just be cool and never mess with locks you don’t own or have permission to. It’s an awesome skill to have.
Thank you for that. I bought mineand it didn't come with directions. Usually, I'm not too bad at figuring out how things work, but I wasn't getting it. I made a copy of a key I had as you made yours. Easy-peasy. I rarely make tubular keys, so it's perfect for me.
The safe part seems pointless. Because if a thief finds out it is a safe, they can just steal the whole book, rather than open the safe. So they could just have made it a box.
The clever thing about this one is thay even though it's a fairly well known hiding place, it doesn't help a potential thief unless they have extend access to your library. If you think your cash isn't well hidden enough you can just add more decoys. I figure if somebody has a few hours and free roam of your house they could get through most locks. With some pretty inexpensive tech it's not too hard to find a secret compartment in a wall or floor. As far as I know the only way for this trick to fail is for you to be exceptionally unlucky or for the thief to check every single book until they find it all. The downside is that it takes some time to seperate the pages out individually since you don't want to put your whole stash between two pages. Probably not a good place to keep your pocket money if you plan to use it.
@@charlesandrews2513 Absolutely 👍. Scumbag thieves usually grab the obvious stuff. Get a small cheap safe, don’t put anything valuable in it and make sure it’s easy to spot and take, meanwhile your cash is in between a couple pages of your dictionary or whatever. Security through obscurity. Hidden in plain sight. The freezer is another good place to stash things.
@@-DJ234 Ya the cutout book in a prison cell. 🤓 I suppose it wouldn’t take much to change the cover. Any old book of same size would suffice. But not many people would grab a dictionary. Probably a good choice. Maybe age it so it doesn’t stand out like a sore thumb on a book shelf.
@@roy5603 Thanks for always supporting me. No, I actually got that cutaway Master Lock No. 19 from an awesome guy named J Gabriel. He another locksport member. Loves making challenge locks too.
For $15 bucks, the "neat" factor is well worth it. As stated, it may come as a surprise how many people would walk right on past this! Thanks as always Big Al! 👍
But once they spot it, it's a KFC spork away from being opened. (literally a screwdriver could pry the thing open. I have soup cans made with stronger steel.) Plus, they could just walk out of the house with it.
Nice 'wallpaper' for the end, hope you had a great 4th 🙂 I know someone who used a real dictionary to file away paperwork; you'd find money under "M", car titles under "T" and so on 😅 It used to be common to see people having a 'library' in their living room or den, but it's kind of rare with everything online now. Wafer locks be easy, especially worn ones. Don't pooh-pooh 'security through obscurity' as it's probably the best first step you can take. In my work on houses I sometimes need to leave materials unattended in a vacant house, so I hide them in a closet or under what looks like a pile of trash. So far nobody has taken anything but I know lots of people who've been 'hit' where they left stuff visible from the outside. I always say "they don't steal what they don't see" because it's true; nobody goes after something they don't know exists. But if they know it's there obscurity may only slow them down a bit in finding it. Obscurity helps and is worth doing most of the time- just don't count on it alone.
You know, I said I have to buy different little small lockboxes for either a medication D money see other little personal items and it doesn’t help when people mess his videos to show others how to get into your lockboxes away from your home an event that is broken into so I just don’t agree with videos like this being made. Show someone how to get into your lockbox, especially when you’re trying to lock things up to keep things safe from others. Will there be children will be people who have a drug addiction . Or a thief Just want to see what you have. .

@@AlbertLebel looking at buying a returned lock. Is there a problem if they don’t have the key code card? It shows a blurred out number on the lock box. Is there anything to lock for to determine if someone took it apart and didn’t get all the parts back in it before returning it? Thank you for your help.
Thanks so much Al! We have one on our house side door that hasn’t been used in over 20 years. Of course we forgot the combo. My husband and I have been fiddling with it for days, then I got the bright idea to Google it and found your instructions. Using a Swiss Army Knife I was able to pick it! I now have bragging rights and my husband thinks I am a genius. 😉
I am so happy for you. This is fantastic. It’s comments like this that keep me going. This is just a hobby to keep my day job from driving me insane. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your story with us. I think your husband owes you a nice dinner. 🤓
The spring-less core reminds me of the American lock military line, which sometimes specified a direct coupling between the cylinder and the actuator tailpiece. I'm not sure of the details, but from a quick online search it seems that Brinks' parent company, Hampton Products, acquired Commando a few years ago and introduced this 4 pin lookalike version as a low security but physically tough alternative to the main Commando 5-pin lock type.
@@AlbertLebel or trying to go thru every single number as I was watching TV. I tried a few other methods and scrolled thru about a thousand numbers. Had it opened in about a minute after this video. You can tell who else watched unsuccessful videos because we all were using a strip from a can. Lol.
Nice video. This deadbolt is heavy duty. I liked it too. Price is reasonable. Locksmith wholesale is around $80, retail is $130 (well below codelocks and lockey) . I checked with a handful of my cylinders in different keyways and the key cylinders can be with some minor adjustments interchangeable but it’s not a standard dimension. I wish they had made it more interchangeable or at least offered replacement cylinders in different keyways. Maybe they do? They do have a heavier duty commercial grade one in the works from what I understand.
