Thank you so much Counselling Tutor, your videos are so helpful. I am about to embark on work placement so watching these tutorials is going a long way in alleviating my nerves. Thank you 😊
Hello, I like your videos, but they seem to be aimed at helping counsellors. I find that a lot online. The help is for professionals, whereas sufferers are told to help themselves. Do you do any counselling yourselves?
So what are the four pillars? I heard nothing of subsance until the 10 minute mark which s where you lost me with your chatter. Is there any medical or (neuro-)physiological evidence of any benefits of Gestalt therapy?
Does a true self exist? What does it mean? We all have to socialize. I think therefore we all have a sense of a false self. But if it gets to wide or to big, it is a problem for a person, I think. Thank you for inspiring me♥️
You guys are true lifesavers. I have been running around to no avail trying to find the answers that you have so graciously answered here. I however would like to know if the therapy notes are same or a component of case conceptualisation where we might need to hypothesize about the client's presenting issues. Also, how important are mentioning the client's physical appearance, tone of speech and such non-verbal cues in the session notes.
not excelling in academics, athletics, careers, as measured by comparisons to others, is just how life is. It's not a pathology which requires seeing a therapist. The therapist will tell you to just accept it. There's a whole counseling theory called Acceptance & Commitment Therapy,
Congruence should be in the service of client, we cannot bring something that will derail the conversation, and tell the client that’s what he did was not a good response, may be he or she don’t know the other way to respond it.
Interesting, are you responding to th agreeing or did they say something incorrect? Im just curious as sometimes i take everything they said as right and realised that people have different views on what certain skills mean, so interested to hear
Good job. I'd like your opionion of the title of my book that I'm about 2/3 finished. Considering this, Men are from Earth.....Women are from some other place! Bet it hits #1.
I asked my therapist about this, . I asked, if my mother came to you and told you about her sensitive, paranoid, emotional, dramatic daughter (everything that my mother thinks I am) would you be as kind to her as you are to me? My therapist was very kind to me and very validating and it made me wonder. Do I deserve to be validated? Do some people go to therapy looking for validation and end up being challenged instead? (i didn't feel that that was my experience.)
Parenting does require being Disciplinarian, so let's not fool ourselves... Lacking discipline is more the problem in our Instant Gratification Consumer Society.
