I love the classic ss Lord blades. They are med. prep. blades and are as thick as personna med. prep. Thick blade definitely works for me, giving me close to zero low neck irritation. Really smoot feeling and not oversharp. If you have a pipmple or bump on the face, the blade stops cutting, and u have to apply pressure to cut yourself, very forgiving and smoot.
I have to agree, King got it right the first time. I own a few high-end razors and many many medium-priced razors, but none can beat the shave I get from my 1920 Gillette Single Ring.
It's funny . I like LV. It is strong, but very floral. Not in a nasty, acrid way like some geranium based scents (looking at you Fleur de France) but in a pleasant way. Nevertheless, if I focus on it and think about cat piss, I can sort of detect it. So, I can see how some people could be put off by it, just like some people have taste buds that are very sensitive to bitter flavors but I am not.
Excellent video Scott. Was going to say something negative about Voschod but I feel the same as if I was insulting your mother so I dididn't. 😅 Going to try the Crystal blades. Take care Scott from brownbag gentleman.

Scott enjoy your channel including your synopsis on the Rockwell S ! Just ordered one this week and cannot wait to try it as a long time DE shaver since the Clinton era in the late 90s ! Hope to see you back making remarkably interesting shave videos soon! Wishing you family a very Happy Healthy Holiday Season and 2024 !
I watched this video immediately after watching "Top 5 Worst DE Blades," in which Matthew Lawrence names Voskhod as one of his five WORST blades. And, a tuck of Voskhods just arrived in the mail this afternoon. Guess I have to find out for myself.
You are right about Восход, it is also my first favorite blade. Sharp enough, no other razor shaves as smoothly with less skin irritation than the Восход. When I apply the lotion on my face after shaving by Восход, there is absolutely no stinging or burning on my face, just like if I applied the lotion on my palms. It is teflon coated. On my skin and beard, I can shave 5 times (I use Merkur FUTUR Adjustable Safety Razor) with one Восход blade, and it still doesn't irritate my facial skin. The Feather is very sharp, but it irritates the skin, especially at first. I get tiny red bloody spots on my face skin when I shave with Feather.
I bought that razor and I have 10 other premium razors including vector ti… my experience was the same, very efficient and smooth, loving it by the way, why shave your head? you look younger and thinner with the natural look
I do not. It’s a terrific DE razor, however I’m no longer a DE razor user! Once I discovered SE razors, with their thicker, more rigid blades, I never went back! Thanks for watching!
Another good way to start is to go local, first. Find as much of the items possible at retail shops in your neighborhood. Usually it goes like this: Target, CVS -- Double Edge Razor, double edge razor blades, shaving cream (not likely to find firm soap), lathering brush, post shave balm, maybe styptic pencil Thrift shop, or maybe already have at home -- bowl, to use for making lather if choosing bowl-lathering Now, learn to shave, and shave according to your schedule. Soon the time comes to look for and check the many online merchants of wet-shaving products.
Our presenter here is truly a guy who loves OLD RAZORS. Most of these I’ve never heard of. I thought I was old school when I picked up a 1965 Gillette Slim. Hell…that looks like the new kid on the block compared with 1904…1918 etc. razors.
For me….it’s Feather, Nacet, Astra SP, and Voskhod. And by far my ole favorite is the Voshkie. They have a cult following out here in Shaverland. Ran into a guy who had a 3,000 blade stockpile of them. Now that’s a loyal customer.
Update: Had to say goodbye to an old friend this week…..Voskhod blades. Used them for years and had some great shaves with them. They were good for 3 or 4 good shaves….questionable beyond that. Back then you could buy them all day for $8.50/100. Now they are up to $30/100….way too expensive. I can buy Feathers or Wizamet/Polsilvers for that price….much better blades and better durability. So I bought the Wizamet in my latest blade buy. Kind of sad really.
so I don't exactly understand what the plates do. I have the 6c and i've only shaved with it once, but when i looked at all 3 plates side by side they look identical. only real answer i could find online is that its the angle that changes, but i can't really see it - does anyone know?
Thanks for such a great and thorough review. I'm a relatively new DE shaver and getting to the point where I want to upgrade my experience from my Wilkinson Sword beginners butterfly opening razor to something better. I've watched w lot of videos and decided I wanted something adjustable, and after considering the truly adjustable mid shave ones have homed in instead on a Rockwell 6S or 6C as I sense (and your review has helped) it is more solid and reliable and will last me a long time (hopefully for life). I'll take the plunge in the next few weeks. Will see if anyone offers any Black Friday discounts. Rockwells 20% pop up discount sounded great until I saw they wanted £30 shipping to UK (I can't understand why it was so much. The website supposedly took me to the EU website and I'd have thought shipping would be much less). Anyway I'll get one soon. One suggestion for improvement would be including some sort of case. When one buys even a cheap electric razor it always comes with a plastic pouch for it. I realise that an expensive case would put the price up but even a cheap plastic one that one could use for storage and travel would be an asset. Thanks again for the great video!
Sir, as an avid bowl latherer I want to comment on the subject: I think frothing in a bowl serves a specific purpose unknown by the shaving community. Air is 4% carbondioxide which makes it a weak acid when dissolved in the lather. I came to this conclusion by adding vinegar to my lathers to speed up the process. It really does work to disperse large bubbles and making it into a cream. Don't be discouraged if it clumps up the lather, if you put half to a full cap of the vinegar bottle, up to 20mL, it can form a lather into a creamy paste which dissolves easily when applied to the face and it is very wet. You can get a lot of residual slickness from it, it does not leave a dry spot where you sweep over the face with the brush.
@@ScottRLeslie oh wow understandable tho. Literally couldn't burn alone through all of them. Yeah SE is awesome. If you master it it's a different feeling. Especially awesome when you master it on head shaves. Thanks for the quick answer
