Hey kid. If you want to make the pros and are a centre-man, you must be a face off master. You will have more ice time which will result in more points. If you lose 70% of your draws and want to make the nhl you better score goals to make up for it. Best faceoff tips. 1) Confidence. Believe you can win every draw. 2) Get in their head. Don’t wish your opponent a good game. Talk to him. Say nice skates, what happened to Jeff last game? Anything. 3) let them win the first draw if it’s at centre or a meaningless draw. See what he does and he will have a false sense of confidence the next time 4) widen your stance and position your head below his. It will give you more leverage and slightly interfere with his view 5) Don’t focus on the puck or winning it back. Focus on his stick. Smash it, drive forward and lift it up, use your body. Use your feet 6) train your arms and forearms. Develop superior strength 7) if you keep losing draws to the same person, line em up for a clean text book body check. Every face off he wins should equal one solid and I mean solid body check. Don’t be dirty and cheap. Keep it clean. The highest ever faceoff percentage is 62.86% over 2162 faceoffs. You will have an amazing life if you can even come close. Don’t worry about winning each one. Focus on not losing more than 40%

Wow probably the best video I've seen so far on how to crossover backwards. Others are explained and demonstrated too quickly. lol

Noticed this video on my feed. Its an outdated form of large group coaching “skills”..Although “good” drills they are extremely horrible when there is excessive amounts of kids standing in line to do the drill with what appears to be only one coach out on the ice. Ice is expensive and waiting in line only allows the reps to happen a few times. Teaching “linear” like the very first drill no help is afforded to the players with one coach. If anything break up the group into ice sections and rotate players through each section (usa hockey suggested) there has to be a parent that can skate that can help instead of being at the snack bar..? Good to see tendys do the drills but let all of them use a puck. The idea is to have drills/skills that are as transferable to game as possible ✌🏻

This is really useful for someone who's never taken a faceoff before, but doesn't actually help any center with experience win more draws. Wrong title for an otherwise good tutorial.

what do you think about having space between the puck and blade of the stick so you are hitting the puck and not throwing it with the stick?

So, I guess I know how to skate up to the dot. Based on the title I would've loved to see different techniques to win the puck. If I can't beat the guy on speed, I like to lift their stick, get under, and sweep it back in one motion or check their stick back toward them and open up real estate for me to sweep the puck back.

I have seen this explained in other videos but never quite got it. This is the first video where it was explained slowly and in great detail, so I finally understood that second push and where it is supposed to come from. Thanks! 😃👍

I have no idea how but I learned this very naturally. It was not hard to learn at all. I don't know if my past of skateboarding and snowboarding helped me, but found learning this simple. Had much more difficulty learning to stop on my weak side.

I got so confused watching this. In the first demo, he shows the C-cut and the push with the same leg, but in the 2nd part, he C-cuts with one leg and pushes with the other. It took me a few watches to see the difference.

At first I thought he was just shooting against the dropped down net. Then we see it’s down in front of the standing net to create that bar-down target area - which he proceeds to snipe on every shot! 🙌🚀
