To put her age in perspective, she was born 40 years after the end of the civil war.

So precious. Oh how I wish we could go back to those times. Society has just absolutely declined to the point of complete horror.

It is actually very comforting to me to hear this lady talk about older times. I love real survivor types like this lady. We need more people NOW in this world like her.

Wow oh wow oh wow - I've been watching videos of Depression stories, went to Ralph's YT page, saw this thumbnail and knew it was my old Knoxville church before moving back to NC in 2007. Choir director Sarah is the only one I know, and it has been waaaayyyy too long since I've been to Christ Church! Jaw-dropping - as usual - of course. THANKS for posting!

In the 60’s me and my sister always shared our clothes. When I had children they learned what hand me downs were. That includes their shoes. Left overs were always eaten and nothing was ever wasted. What a sweet lady. This generation of kids to listen to her and realize how precious life is and how hard our grandparents and parents worked to make it. 😊

My grandmother grew up on a farm in Indiana. She didn't know the Great Depression had happened because they were living off the land.

I have really enjoyed listening to your granny's stories! She is absolutely remarkable, but sadly I see time changing her from 101 to 105 and that was 3 years ago! Please tell me that in 2023 that she is still with us? I hope so 🙏🙏 God bless her beautiful soul and you for documenting her stories which will live on I guess for eternity? We'll see how longer that is, huh?

Her diet was simple real food not a bunch of crap people gorge themselves on nowadays. That is the secret to longevity.
