GRANDAD BUS MY BELOVED!!!!!!

This bus is outstanding, and I love its performance. This is the only E400 Trident to have Ventura bus doors. I also like how these 4 tridents have “EXIT ONLY” stickers on their middle doors like their cousins the 15xx E400 Facelifts. No wonder it is my favourite Bluestar bus. Some seats have been changed to Bluestar/GSC maquette to match the operator. I bet it will even get silver poles in the future like Bluestar’s DOE Olympus tridents. Unlikely though. This bus has spent time with so many operators with many fleet codes, LK08FKX has had a huge history. Starting life w/ First London as DN3305, then joining GAL as EN27 hence its driver seat being changed to GAL maquette, and then joining Bluestar in Southampton in late September 2020 to help the Bluestar 7 in the COVID pandemic situation. It stayed with us for around a year along with LX56ETR, ETD and ETF which came to us with FKX, but in May 2021 they left to Southern Vectis on the IOW for the festival, with this bus, 1256 (ETD) and 1257 (ETF) remaining with the stars on their sides and logo. 1254 ETR lost its decorations and it got SV logos. 1254-7 left SV permanently and then they came down back to the mainland with morebus to help with the 1A and 5 temporarily and ETR-ETF were given Morebus logos. This lasted for around 18 months (1.5 years) until the introduction of Morebus’ 22 plate unibus E400 MMCs. In early February 2023, the buses left morebus as they were redundant and bluestar needed them back for the 7, and to help with the new routes as Bluestar grew mad fast in 2023, what with the 10, 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, 23 and 24 all starting up as well as unilink U7/8. In early 2024, they were moved off the 7 due to new 24 plate buses joining Bluestar for the 7 and 2 bus routes (4 and 3 as well, occasionally). This left the 125x buses useless for the 2 and 7 and were given to the Bluestar 19 most of the time nowadays to work with the LX58 Cxx plate Olympuses. Here we go! Such a pleasure to hear the gear changes from this driver and the whine from those 4th & 5th gears. Very nicely driven and cared for! Unlikely some drivers that would thrash their way through the gears without taking the foot off the accelerator! Then down shifting to the point that the passengers would have some degree of whiplash!!

Volvo B7TLs do have tendency for loud fans, generally down to the sensors and poor maintenance. When I rode some of these a few months back I was surprised how pleasant they were on the whole

It feels odd not seeing City Red around in Southampton (also, have you been aware that the X4 and X5 (which are First Solent services) have been extended to Southampton Central with some route changes?)
