Hi I'm a private pilot who loves researching and making videos about aircraft. I've trying a new direction for my channel to tell inspirational stories about aviation.

Have you ever heard of the "Cornfield Bomber"? It's a nickname given to a Convair F-106 Delta Dart that landed itself perfectly in a Montana field in 1970 after the pilot ejected due to a flat spin. Remarkably, the jet corrected its own flight path and managed a gentle belly landing in the snow. It's a fascinating example of Cold War-era technology and sheer luck coming together. I think this would make an incredible deep dive video, showcasing the mechanics, the pilot's experience, and the aftermath of this unusual aviation event! Would love to see your take on this!
Hes a private pilot , nothing more. He is not RATED any different than a hobby flier. Yeah he has a P51 so what. I would too if I had 600.million dollars . Hes a nut job . Scientologist just like Travolta and so many other hollywood PEDOPHILES.
Built my RV-10 standard build kit over 19 years with 6000 work hours logged including all helpers. This includes major changes to the door hinges and latch mechanism to prevent unexpected door opening and detachment during flight, a unique 12 gallon third fuel tank design located in the baggage compartment, overhauling my IO-540-N1A5 Lycoming, dual electronic ignition, dual alternators, etc. etc. Fling off the forty hours now. A great aircraft. Fast build kits would have saved about 1500 hours of build time.
I knew he could fly. And I thought he had flown in the new film. The cost of those Air force planes. 😮. I admire Cruise. He has done things most of us would die to do.
For a professional musician Ivan Shaw is one fine aircraft designer. I've got some experience with gliders and motor gliders so the Classic would be my choice as monowheels hold no terrors for me. Get the impression I'd like one? Oh yes please.
Ultimate stress load. This is the maximum G loading that the aircraft will take before it breaks. At that G loading parts will already be strained to maximum and will be permanently deformed. But will protect the occupants. 8 G is a lot. Most I've pulled is sustained 5G in a Jet Provost, in Yorkshire
2006 was the SR22 *TN* rather than the SR22T (which came in 2010). The difference? The 2006-2009 SR22 TN had a turbo normalised set up, which means the turbo was not active until at high altitudes, where it worked to maintain manifold pressure at sea level. The SR22 and SR22 TN had the same *max power output* . The 2010+ SR22T has a full range set up, where the turbo is taken advantage of throughout the power and altitude range. The SR22T has a modest increase in max power over the normally-aspirated SR22.
One of my all time hero’s. Helps when you are a mega Hollywood superstar but anything is possible in aviation if you put your mind to it and work hard. I lost my pilots license due to medical reasons and I still miss flying. Aerobatics, float plane flying and flying into Orlando International in my PA -28 will be memories I will treasure forever.
I watched Top Gun in it’s first week in the cinema in 1986- I was already a fan of anything aviation/jet fighter related and boy that movie blew me away ,I watched it in the cinema about 5 times and now he is a real pilot yes Tom Cruise is the real deal.
Great video but one thing I’d like to point out that i saw was incorrect. The Cherokee charger wasn’t introduced till 73. The basic Cherokee 235 was introduced in 63 but wasn’t a charger, u can tell because the first 235’s don’t have the extra 3rd window.
Thanks for the video, but this is incredibly confusing. You seem to be going back and forth between variants, and I'm not sure what you mean by da40NG "trainer." Also, you kept showing footage of different models than the one's you were talking about. The NG does not have a prop lever. Your cost figures are definitely off. At my club I pay $190-210/hour for 2000-2007 da40s. Our NG is running in the $325/hr ballpark.
Thanks for an interesting review of this aspect of TC! Just a question that I've been thinking about a lot for the TGM movie. They make a big point of the fact that they had a ride in the real deal to make it look authentic. The problem is, however, that they are supposed to look like they are flying the plane, while in fact they are just passengers. This can be seen, no matter how prepared they are. You can see that they don't fly the plane but are passengers. This brings me to my question: would it have been better for Tom to fly a real plane and then CGI it to look like an F18; and for the other actors to fly a simulator? That way, you don't simulate the flying but instead simulate the visuals of the plane. Which would have been better? To simulate the plane and have the actors fly another plane (or simulator) or, as they chose to do, ride as passengers in a real F18?
Interesting video is this what happened because it had a V tail ? Come on. Actually if you look at wx related accidents by VFR pilots who operate or own V 35 type aircraft you would see more scud running in that type in 50s-80s. Go spiralizing out the bottom of the cloud and see the ground coming up and yank....yea good luck in any aircraft. The Bonanza any model picks up speed really well in a descent way above VA heck like most aircraft that cruise faster than there VA. And that review of the Bonanza certification was not from the same era when the aircraft was built and tested. Like any aircraft fly it in its design envelope and the Bonanza is a great aircraft. But i have seen some aircraft that were obviously abused. Like routinely flown at high speed in mod turbulence....but it did not come apart.....yet.
