Thank you for sharing!, i know exactly how you felt, ik happened to me also. Since then i always take a clear compass with me, so that i can hold course if i ever get sucked up in a cloud. Greetings from the netherlands!!
the Arak is good for its purpose…good glide…good climb…for me a bit strange handling…seems to be stable…not much dynamic in steep turns close to the ridges (for me a No Go)…good launch abilities… I sold it…you have to try to compare it with your experience… I sold it because I like only one glider for all conditions… I bought it just as a mountain glider…
@@paradeltahike i had the oportunity to ground handle one, seemed pretty easy and stable just alot softer on the brakes and specially at the stall point then what i was used to. Did you also feel this? thx
yes, soft breaks...and yes, you have to care about the stall point: it doesn't have much increasing pressure when you come close to it, but pretty slow speed is possible...good for top landings, but doesn't flare much (of course it's a B glider)...what impressed me was it's ability to turn itself in to thermals, you fall asleep while themalling 🙂@@pedromarcos1472
@@paradeltahike Thx for the info. One last thing, regarding performance, glide , speed and the ability to stay in the air in weak conditions (flat lands here) would you put it closer to the low Bs or closer to the High Bs? Could you glide similar to Ozone Rushs, Swifts, Nova Mentors, etc? Or those High Bs out perform it alot? I could go for High B but i really wanted the very lightweight of this glider because ill do alot of H&F with it. Thanks
just had the first flight with it, very "soft" feeling and its a good glider and very easy to handle, just in strong winds its abit messy to takeoff because its so light it moves all over the place @@pithoffstetter8970
I don't feel the stall point (or not enough)...it goes flat into the curve and then suddenly bends into a steep curve...but otherwise it does its job well...usually climbs better than others without much intervention...
@@paradeltahike thanks. I have one and other pilots weren’t such a fan of flying mine. I don’t have that much experience on big wings, so I can’t really tell how it’s different. I prefer it to my old epsilon.
I still have a like-new Minifex in my garage, that I am hoping to fly one day. I had bought it for some hike & fly but was too heavy for it. Now I am getting in the correct weight range, so it is time to get it out again. It looks good on your video, which I believe is the only Minifex video on RU-vid! Thank you for sharing!
That's awesome that you still have the motivation to to fly with such a glider. Those days were good times. Hope to see some footage of your flight. Give me link then... Cheers Pi
The part in the cloud would be indeed pretty horrifying, might it have ended with a cliff crash. Luckily it didn’t, it’s always smart to have a compass on board but better stay out of the clouds. You were right to be scared. A little bit of fear is good, it keeps you alive ;-) The rest of the flight looks lovely. Nice music btw.
