My first VR experience ever was putting the Rift on and interacting with the robot. It was mind-blowing! To anybody that hasn't experienced VR, it's really impossible to convey what it feels like. You just have to try it. What makes it so intense is that you actually have full depth perception of everything going on. That what makes it so realistic, it's not just like you strapped a normal monitor to your face.
Thanks, I just ordered my Vive today. Could not find it in stock anywhere which really surprised me since I live in Houston. All the stores have to order it so why not just order it from HTC Vive itself. Oh well, Your video gave me an idea as what to expect. Very Excited here. Again, Thank you
Nothing happened, we're still here, everyone involved is a volunteer at the moment so day jobs take up most of our time! More vids coming soon, as new hardware and good software become available. :)
I Install my Oculus today, I can only said I never imaging something like this it was possible, videos on youtube are nowhere near of what you actually see and feel when you are immerse, with the Oculus, I am a tech guy, but I never tough this was possible, is just incredible thats all I can say, anyone should try it, from young to old, everyone,
fish and banana yes, it just depends which game/title you download, some you can sit in a chair or on the floor, but some require you to have more space to move around in. Goodluck!
@Vr dotorg hey I just got an oculus and its kind of been messing with my vision outside of vr did this happen to you? Things kind of appear more 3d than they actually are? If so did you get used to it? or did it go away?
Thankyou vr dotorg, for giving me a sense of what to expect, before my oculus arrives soon. But around the 3:00 mark, it looks like you have plenty of room to move around in your own area. But it's hard to believe that the cable would be that long. Did you have to buy an extension usb cable at all, to do what you did in this video?
I just recently got an Oculus Rift and the screen seem to be tilted slightly to the left. I returned it and got a replacement with the same issue. Is that how it is yours?
I was excited to try the viveport subscription service because they had quite a few fun looking games on it. Everytime i boot the desktop app to try and run any of the games, my computer would slow down drastically to the point where I couldn't really use my computer. I pressed open on the game i was trying to play and it took 24 minutes to open. Every time i would use the controllers in-game, it would freeze the game for a few seconds. Overall I'm really disappointed with viveport. Cool idea, however the software is unusable
I can't find any real Rift for demo around here, can you describe the resolution to us? Is it like you're looking at Full HD screen? how clear and sharp is the image comparable to monitors?
It's close, both the Rift and the Vive have a resolution of 1080×1200 per eye with a refresh rate of 90Hz. It's definitely like you're looking at a full HD screen, but it gets good when you can turn and see all around you in 360 degrees. Depending on the game/program the image is very sharp for 1st gen hardware. Since the screens are very close to your face, you sometimes can see the pixels but it quickly disappears once you start engaging in a game or vr title. Currently the only con or downside is watching 360 videos (not games or vr titles but videos shot with 360 degree cameras) many of them have much lower resolution for some reason, so it's harder to stay engaged overall. As 360 VR cameras get better though and VR Hardware improves it will become much more real. But overall for VR titles and games, the resolution per eye is good enough for you to forget you even have the headset on, especially if the game is engaging like SUPERHOT VR, or Google Earth VR.
I've had my Vive since May of last year and never had an issue with my official Vive software. I was having issues getting the headset to start and I'd have to uninstall all software associated with the headset including Steam but it turned out trying to run if off a DisplayPort was my issue. Upgraded from a EVGA GTX980 to an ASUS GTX1080 with two HDMI ports and problem solved.
