Something I've noticed while watching your videos. You can place down something like say a fire and if you look at the map you will see a mark on the map where the fire was placed. If you remove the fire that mark will still be on the map since placing the fire modified the spot it was placed on. Modified land shows on the map. Soo if you want to mark a spot on the map you can just place a fire/patrol marker/etc, which will modify the that spot and will show on the map. Understand what I'm trying to say here?
This video is great, I just can't seem to wrap my head around warehouses. mind if i ask a few questions? Let's say I want to automate supplying my worker in the workshop hut with materials; small stones, fibres, sticks etc. How do i go about doing that? Do i build a warehouse next to the workshop, task a second villager to only bring said materials there (will the second villager take materials from the wood/stonecutters huts?), and the crafter will automatically take materials from there and start crafting? also when it comes to bringing iron back to your base from a cave, the way I've done it so far is to have one villager in the cave gathering iron, the second brings that iron from the outside of the cave to a warehouse thats really close (since i can't instruct the cave villager to take bring it into the warehouse directly..) and a third has the task of taking the iron back to the warehouse, which then the bloomery worker will take from. does that sound correct? I feel I shouldn't need three villagers to get iron back to base. Sorry if the answer is more obvious but I've really got no clue.
Wanted to ask about the rerolling. Does the full roll happen as you choose one from the two or can you save quit right before they spawn to reroll the hidden ones?
26:42 actually if you build close to your food production, and add decoratives, you can get away with having 9 per cottage. I add 2 room separators 1 flimsy table, dont put any sort of storage or they will mess everything up, only firewood. 2 firewood storages one arc outside one tree and one garden and i can fit 9 ppl with +30 housing points per house, and it can look decent too, thats why i didnt add more beds lol. Water collectors also help.
One thing I learned here you can unstuck and you'll go back to the shipwreak. My base are located near there. So everytime, probably I wanna fast travel I can do that. haha!Cheers.
I just played 3 days ago. I may be going for my first invasion. The first bear raid kill my 2 of my people out of 3. Made it to 5 people but winter killed another one. I might probably start a new game on this location so I can get the iron ore quicker. Thanks.
I just started metal working and carpentry .. this will be super helpfull. I didn't realise you could select what to put in some warehouse container .. I will have to revise what I already did. You are very well organised. I guess that's not your first playthrough .. how many time did you restart to get there ?
As my villagers lost alot of iron in the process.... The Mine seem to have a final count of iron ore. My mine is empty and I was not able to craft al my stuff.... Do you have any idea how to solve this issue without starting new?
1:55:11 does that actually work? does it make it so that you stay at 100% defended or does it make it so that the defenseless popup keeps popping up edit: when u edit their name u somehow manage to edit without having to delete the whole thing, how are you doing that?? i find myself retyping their name every time
Is there a way to keep fires and stone lights lit by villagers? I've seen them do it every now and then, but not reliably. In the winter it seems like half my day is spent fuling and lighting fires.
I remember when my brother and I got home from church and played through Halo 3 non stop. Took us 3 and a half hours to beat the game, I wish I could relive that.
Will the worker in the Carpentry get hardwood logs ang long sticks in the warehouse if they run out of it? Because I noticed in my carpentry they will stop crafting carpentry items if you don’t restock their storages in the workshop.
The Carpenter should stock the Workshop themselves, which is why I have a Hardwood designated Woodcutter so close to it, and skip having long stick and log storage in a WH.
As always, a very helpful video. The UI is too complicated. People are complaining about villagers "stealing" stuff from storage and asking the devs to add a whitelist option (myself included) but it is already there! I had no idea. Now I just wonder how did you fill up the jotun blood storage? I thought villagers don't gather Jotun Blood themselves, but I doubt you did it by yourself
Jotun Blood is only gathered by the player, so yes, I stocked it all up myself. With a decent Stonecutting skill level and a large iron pickaxe, you can get through an entire shard in five swings, making it much faster to gather them.
I love these types of videos, thank you. I have a question, what happens with the npc that works in the gathered, that every time I have to put a mark further away
Great video, awesome commentary. Thanks for sharing. I am obsessed with this game at the moment. There a lot of good tips in here for strategy and gameplay mechanics for anyone checking this out.
Thank you very much for watching and for all of your kind messages. For now I am planning on keeping this series to a weekly episode every Sunday. If you'd like to see it twice a week, please let me know.
I personally vote for whatever schedule you are comfortable with. I see you've just released a new Expert Tutorial and wouldn't want to see both projects overloading you.
2 a week would be great. But in the end do what is fun for you. Burnout is real. And burnout means less enjoyable episodes if we can tell you're not having fun. Or even worse. No episodes at all. What time do you stream this. I'll try to catch some.
Didn't catch the stream but watched through the entire thing. Between your advice and methodology, Maqsimous and the chat's questions, not to mention my own very good seed with a mine right offshore (I do need to find a wolf den now that I'm more familiar with what I'm looking for), I think I'm ready for an extensive dive into the more intricate settlement mechanics. So, I say wholeheartedly: Thank you! The hardest thing I'm having issues with, automation wise, is villagers keep "slagging" my iron. It's a curve and learning process but I'm more than comfortable starting over with my seed.
