I am going to Japan in 10 days time! (Stopping for a short holiday on my way home from a work trip). I want to maximise the time as much as possible so i am grateful for this video!! Thankyou!
Hi Toshi-san. Is Suica card still available at Narita Airport? By the way, can I use Mobile Suica to board non-JR train in Tokyo and other cities (Kyoto and Osaka)?
>Is Suica card still available at Narita Airport? Would you like to buy a Suica at Narita Airport? My friend told me she got it 2 weeks ago. >By the way, can I use Mobile Suica to board non-JR train in Tokyo and other cities (Kyoto and Osaka)? Yes. You can use it not only JR but also non-JR in Big city like Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima, etc.
Hey Toshi~ I hope you are doing well my friend. I promise to be as respectful and appreciative of your culture and beautiful country, it is an honor and a privilege to be able to visit and to see the incredible sights. I also loaded Suica on my Apple Wallet and just put 2000 Yen to get from the Haneda Airport to Hotel. As always, thank you for sharing information, and making your videos informative with great editing, I can tell you put so much time and effort into growing your channel and I wish you all the success possible, you always do your best! Thank you. I leave USA in 3 days and can not wait to see you!
Hi, Thank you for watching as usual. I hope you are doing well. As we discussed in our email, I'm looking forward to seeing you in Tokyo on 7/11-7/13. In terms of the reservation of Team Labs, I sent you an email. Please check it out. Have a safe travel to Japan!! Toshi
Golf course fees in Hawaii were raised for non-residents due to unscrupulous tour agencies booking tee times for tourists and then charging the tourists high fees. When these tour agencies booked the tee times, the local residents found it difficult to get tee times. When the local government, changed the tourist/resident fee rates, the predatory tour agencies basically stopped booking tee time at public golf courses.
In some countries, restaurant owners quietly give discount to locals who speak local language. In today's world where Internet and Google Maps is so pervasive, they no longer use 2 menus because it's too obvious and a bad rating can stop all tourist who filter by 4-star and above. However, the practice of overcharging by giving you "free" or "try" items that you didn't order at touristy restaurants is alive and well. If you don't want the starter or wet-napkin or "trial item" they place in front of you, thank the waiting staff and say you don't want it. The practice of 2 entry fees for locals & tourists is a standard almost everywhere I go. It doesn't discourage me to go there because all the best places in the world charges something right? Even a free beach in Bali will have a small cafe or hotel nearby so you can buy refreshments while you're chilling at the beach. Using their chair & umbrella is also chargable.
I really admire your government. Create an easy journey to reach the countryside. It is also a way to distribute income to people in areas. For me, people in countryside have to come and find work in the capital.
Thank you for sharing your opinion. The Japanese government is working on infrastructure so that foreigners can easily travel to the countryside. I hope that it will come true soon.
My #1 rule... Bring your streets smarts with you! Just because you're in Japan, doesn't mean you're in a safe haven! Yes, it's traditionally safe, but don't ever lose your guard wherever you go! Anywhere! There will always be crime, wherever you are! It's human nature! Tip for the drinks scamming, don't ever run a tab. Whenever you get a drink, pay right away! That way you can always stop the transaction! Girls leading you into bars are employees of that bar, so there's are way higher priced!
I've been to Nagasaki and Hokkaido during the cool months and it was very refreshing. I've never been to Tokyo and never experienced snowing before. When is the best time to visit Tokyo to see snow?
when i was a student in 2003, these street touts offer coupons for izakaya and nomihodai special in shinjuku/shibuya. they were legit and good, so sad to see that they now could be scams
Bring waterproof shoes... (not water resistant). I ended up buying a pair of Goretex on day 3 after a downpour in Osaka made water resistant shoes into completely water-logged shoes.
It's cold because it's winter. However, there are also traditional events in the season. Please check the following website if you are interested in. japancheapo.com/events/february/
I'm planning to go to Japan next year and I'd like to celebrate my birthday, which is on March 15th, there. I'm planning to stay from March 13th to April 12th. Is the end of March really that bad? I know that the cherry blossoms bloom around that time, so I expected it to be a bit more expensive. I planned to avoid the busiest places and stay somewhere quieter. But if other destinations will also be crowded, that would be inconvenient. I also wanted to ask if there are any festivals during this period that I shouldn't miss, besides the cherry blossom viewing. I should also add that I'm going to experience the amazing food and visit some anime locations.
Thank you for your questions. >Is the end of March really that bad? From the point of view of congestion, the climate is good and it is also cherry blossom season, so it is crowded. However, cherry blossoms are a very popular Japanese culture, so I really want you to experience cherry blossom viewing. >I also wanted to ask if there are any festivals during this period that I shouldn't miss, besides the cherry blossom viewing. Please check the following website. japancheapo.com/events/march/ I hope you have a wonderful time in Japan!!
@@Toshi-Guide-from-Japan Thank you for your response. Yes, I am planning to experience cherry blossoms at least once, but I intend to visit for half a day and then return to a more distant destination. This way, I can avoid the crowded hotels.
Would love some some information about summer festivals especially in Tokyo around aug. 20 to 31, but also Osaka and Kyoto. Somehow I keep finding different dates for the same festivals so it would be nice to know what is correct. For example Edogawa Fireworks festival. Other events happening in the period is also appreciated!
Hi Toshi - I will be travelling to Tokyo in 2 days. I didn't know that the Welcome Suica card would not be available at Narita airport. Is there any difference between this card and rhe PASMO Passport? Also, I could only exchange JPY10,000 notes in my country. Will it be difficult for me to pay with this larger note?
Thank you for your questions. >Is there any difference between this card and rhe PASMO Passport? It's almost the same. The difference is that the Pasmo passport comes with a coupon that can be used for travel in Japan. Please check the link below. pasmopassport.jp/ >Also, I could only exchange JPY10,000 notes in my country. Will it be difficult for me to pay with this larger note? Don't worry. In Japan, large bills can be available anywhere. I hope you have a wonderful time in Japan.
Thanks for your advice. Personally, I just visited Japan but was lucky not to have experienced any. I counted 8 scammy tactics. The new taxes are a new trend around the world due to growing tourism or govts taxing foreign visitors
“Same day delivery might be possibility even if you miss the 11am window.” We were staying in Kyoto, and our accumulated purchases resulted in a very difficult to carry duffle bag. Luckily, there was a Yamato Transport office right next to our small hotel. We ended up shipping it to Haneda instead of our hotel room in Tokyo. We were told that it could take 2 days to get there. It was late afternoon, early evening, so we were ok with that. Later that night, I checked the location of the AirTag I had left in it. IT WAS ALREADY AT THE AIRPORT! It hadn’t even been a full day yet, and it was already there!
It's hot, but there are many traditional events in Japan. I posted the video. Please check it out. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oIOAudml5QY.html
I am planning a trip to Japan in the future, and this type of explanatory videos are priceless!, thank you for your time and effort into making this guide for us.
