It used to be a good river for fishing capable of producing specimen Roach 2lb+ lots of Dace and the famous big shoals of big Bream.Funny seeing a Pike on that board because of all the years I spent on the Lune I never seen anyone fish for them or catch one
I was up there on 10th walking toward Lancaster, that big clump of floating grass is still there, LOL. Today, at Glasson I was talking to a fellow Biker who used to pull that tourist boat, the Kingfisher, with a horse, up and down the canal from Bilsborrow/ Garstang. The Canal company stopped it on Health and Safety grounds. Seems the towing Rope was dangerous to prams and cyclists, especially on the many bends the Lanky has.
I'm sure they wouldn't do it by hand today. High viz are no match for a chap in his 3 piece suite with his sleeves rolled up, digging 10 tons of muck a day. 🤔
Evening Will. Sorry to hear about the Link closure. Looked it up, seems to be a long job, nrxt update 30 July.☹. Maybe they should throw buckets of ash in to seal the gate like they do with dry dock gates. 😮😮. That aqueduct really is massive close up, thanks for showing under the arches. I was struck by the vast number of stones in its construction and the number of stonemasons they must have had. Look on the bright side, if the Link was run by the Environment Agency it'd never reopen. At least the CRT will, in my opinion, get it sorted eventually. Guess you are at least near your family. Keep well. Regards. Paul. 👍👍
Hello Paul. I'm not sure what's wrong with what gate but I wonder if there's another way around, like going out at Glasson and heading up the river ribble. 🤔?
@@NarrowboatWill I think you'll find thats a serious sea passage requiring good navigation skills! I saw a video made in the late 90's I think featuring Chris Coburn's Narrowboat Progress that was known for adventurous coastal passages which went from Liverpool to Preston and then to Glasson, and on the way back, they went up the River Dee, got stuck on sandbanks on the straight section near Queensferry and eventually made it to Chester up the Dee branch. Great viewing. At one point he was 12 miles out to sea off Blackpool as best I recall. Maybe if CRT declare they can't fix it in a reasonable time they'll arrange a craning out session for trapped boats. Paul.
Always something to see around and about canals! Not always pretty things but still something to see! It’s nice we can share what seems an idyllic life style with you ! Your a good egg will x
Well, 🥱, at least the video had some pretty views...no, I'm not referring to the shots of you. 🙄 Ok, 😁, yeah, just messing with ya. 😄 I do love the out of the way places that you get to travel, and moor, that are so beautiful. Oh, I have the chicken neck disease as well. You learn how to hold your head when taking pictures to avoid it showing... 😂 Thanks for another enjoyable and very relaxing vlog Mr. Will. Take care. 👍👍
Will, once again, you do not fail to please your viewers. Your voice matches the scenery and the circumstances to a tee. It would probably interfere with your game to video a few shots on an idyllic golf course, but we old duffers would enjoy seeing it. Continue enjoying your cruising, and have an extra pint at the 19th hole in my name. Best wishes, Tom.
I listen to music and I watch RU-vid. I hear what you're saying about all the sounds. I sit and listen most of the day, but an engine drone can get teadious as well. Ha ha ha 😂
@@NarrowboatWill I never thought of that, no problem buddy, still catching up, I always make sure to like and watch the ads too, take care Will looks like your on a great stretch 😃
Great video Will as always, but They, never tell you how They built the aqueduct, with the Large River Lune still running below it? They do come up with some BS at times. So pleased you showed us the aqueduct from below, as it is such a Great build. Thanks. ps have you not thought of getting a dog for your self yet?
Some structures that I see would be difficult today. Horse and cart built the cathedrals, etc. I just find it hard to believe sometimes. Not only that, they went the extra mile with all the decorations. Like it was easy..Makes you think..
I don't know how you manage to produce stunning videos time after time will . You are right about how stunning the canal scenery can be.. even when in the depth of winter. I noticed that you are a bit happier than you were in the last video.. Try not to let things get to you.. mate .you have many more miles to explore on the canal system... There is a possibility in the not to distant future that a link to enable narrow boats to access the Monmouth to Brecon canal system.also a link from Bristol...??? I have to be honest will I have travelled the Monmouth to Brecon canal many times lately and it's one of the most scenic canals I have ever seen... Let's hope that the c r t. Manage to get the funds for this. Anyway will keep smiling mate keep safe and well mate filthy thumbs up 👍👍👍👍
That looks like a shopping trolley to me. I didn't know there were Grade 1 listed shopping trolleys. Those must be the ones from Fortnum and Mason, I suppose.
I think it was part of a fence. I do see a lot of shopping trolleys on my travels, and the effort to get these things to the canal in the first place is a feat of engineering. Ha ha ha 😂
Funny how we use references to poultry-chicken neck ,mouth like a hen’s backside, bingo wings 😂I see what you mean about the Lune and the water looks clean ,something to be proud of in this day and age !
Been following your vlogs for a while Will and really enjoy your content. Just wanted to send a little thank you for your tour of that beautiful aqueduct/bridge. I learn so much from your thoughtful moments (and have a good laugh too). Keep. up the great work Will!
Thanks to your thinking cap I know everything there is to know about this beautiful aqueduct. In this area they seem to prefer this over locks. What a glorious entry returning to Lancaster.
Oh, Sue C, you are so kind🥰, don't worry about spelling of my name, I don't mind. Thank you so much for bring those treats to Will, his tea biscuit for a month is now covered😁
Nice video again 👍 . I didn't realise we are around 6 weeks behind you at home viewing the videos. It's still raining now . That remains consistent across the months. Wherever you are currently on the Lancaster. It'll be raining. What are the name of the cruisers you point out where you can sit inside?. Braunch cruisers? . Forgive me, I'm from Ayrshire , so there's sometimes a language barrier 😂. Good luck 👍
Hello. I think they're called, broads Cruisers. They look really comfy. Stay warm as well while driving. Yes, it's still raining. Nothing has changed from last month. I'm always behind because like now I'm stuck so no filming. Possibly for weeks. Thanks.
In the CRT last published accounts in 2021/22 there was one employee paid in the rage £230,000 to £240,000 so easy to guess who that is. Reallu enjoying the viodeos (I am watching the recent ones as they come out) as well as dipping into old ones.
Morning Will. Should be plenty of water in the canal! Even if the edges are shallow. Enjoyed video and like to see repurposing of stuff from skips. I am given "stuff" at our lake frequently for helping fix up modellers' boats(three last Sunday!). My latest is a dual channel oscilloscope and a signal generator as I like to dabble in electric/electronics. They were in my wish list for several years but pricey. Delighted. Hope you are keeping well after your "bout". 😂👍👍. Paul.
Will, Phil here from NZ. Great vlog as usual. That small gas heater you found, please dont use it, in fact destroy it and get rid. The reason that if used in an enclosed area, like your boat, they give off both Water and Carbon Monoxide. In an enclosed space with no ventilation it could be deadly. The water is invisible and will condense on a hidden cold area and may form mold. I have experience of bigger versions and felt drowsy. I found out early and stopped using the heater. Cheers mate, stay safe love the vlogs.
