Morrowind Modding Showcases is a channel dedicated to showing off Morrowind mods, both new and old (but mostly new) that have been created by the Morrowind Modding Community. Even after twelve years, the Morrowind Modding community is still going strong, and we want to make sure the mods they produce get the proper recognition and respect they deserve here on RU-vid. Each episode of Morrowind Modding Showcases features at least ten mods from ten different categories, mostly from Morrowind Nexus, and includes a brief summary of each and an easy download link to try them out for yourself.

If you're interested in trying out the exciting world of Morrowind modding for yourself, we include links to places where you can get started on your grand adventure in the description of each video! Indeed, we encourage everyone to try their hands at modding and contributing to a greater community of peers!

How do I create my own design for a character and add that character into Morrowind as a playable character?

This is the 1 mod that makes this game go from unplayable to action rpg enthusiasts to suddenly being playable. I would fit into that category.

Hey folks, sorry for the rough opening, I know my attempted pirate accent isn't the best, and also apologies for the schedule irregularities of late, we've got quite a few longer format videos in the pipeline that haven't progressed at quite the pace I would've hoped for, but I'm hopeful things will smooth out by next week. As an additional note regarding The Curse of the Silent Siren, the voice-acting heard from the mod at 2:12 is from MaulyMayhem, and you can find her casting call page here: www.castingcall.club/mauly

Gotta say I’m loving these videos, I’m 25 but remember my dad playing morrowind when I was younger, I’d watch for hours enthralled, finally got myself a nice pc first game I got was morrowind, I’ve spent the last couple months playing vanilla to death! These mod of the day videos have been able to keep the game fresh and enjoyable, thank you!

Honestly, I like the mod more than the Skyrim as a standalone game. Sure, the mod is smaller and there are not that much quests to do, especially in comparison to Tamriel Rebuilt where you bump into all sorts of random events/locations/quests when you move between major points on map, but the atmosphere of the place is just awesome. It feels both fitting to Nords you know from Morrowind and it has those nostalgic vibes from Daggerfall or Might and Magic games for some reason, especially in places like Karthwasten. Locations in the mod are fantastic. Some places like Mirilstern just explode your eyes in awe - not only having a very cool layout, but also tons of custom assets and models. Rocky inpassable moutains, or rather highlands with cliffs are very refreshing in comparison to Morrowind landscapes, because they made traveling harder and more commiting, when there are only several spots you are able to get onto cliff (unless you plan to use levitation potions or save the hustle with TCL). The first time I've seen cave interiors it was amazing - again, like with surface locations - it's fantastic to see so many new assets. One of caves I've seen was so expansive it looked like an exterior location or some huge underground chambers like from I don't know - Minecraft lol - in a good way. Another thing I'd like to stres is that texture quality of the mod is fantastic - they fit the game, they are interesting and they look good. Some items are probably not yet finished and have this odd lack of shading to it, making them feel modded at the first glance and less pleasing to collect, but the mod is in progress. While points of interest on the map are fantastic, forests and wilderness between them can feel repetetive and somewhat procedurally generated. I know that landscapes were made manually, but that's the vibe you get when traveling through the open world until you bump on one of locations. It would be cool to find some more random features or regions being different from each other depending on geography. Suprisingly enough, personally I prefered wilderness from Bloodmoon. NPCs look very good, however I think it would be cool to see some more uncommon races here and there like you do on Vvardenfell, because everywhere besides Karthwasten you basically meet only nords. I'm not talking about some fancy unfitting stuff, like suddenly meeting whole bands of argonians, but would be cool to see people from other human races from neighbouring provinces from time to time. Quests in the mod are very enjoyable, but I think it could use some chainquests / mini-campaigns as well, to get the player more immersed in a certain location they are currently questing in. Morrowind has this type of narration to it, due to being open world, that you build a good picture of the place you are in mostly through how it looks and through quests you can pick there. For example, Almas Thirr from TR was solely focused on Hlaalu vs Indoril conflict, and how the city tries to strike balance and stay neutral despite the strong influence of both Houses. Andothren had this beautiful questline for Thieves Guild focused on rebuilding it, bonding with your guild companions, dirty laundry of a nobleman living in the city and the fallout of the conflict with Comonna Tong. Both of those has build the picture how those cities operate, what topics are they focused and what might an average day of the citizen of one of those may look like. I think Skyrim would benefit greatly on stuff like that, because it simply builds this bond between the player and the location, making it more memorable, because you have a lot of excuses to spend time there and to interact with the place and people living in it. I really loved Dragonstar, it felt like this old fantasy skin for Jerusalem or something, with different states + orks doing their stuff in one big city (yeah, I'm aware there are no real orks in Jerusalem!). New coins to collect! Quest with a mystery of murdered chickens! Overall, fantastic stuff, can't wait to see more of the mod!

It's somewhat wildly satisfying to read such a rich piece about what you feel about the mod, explaining in detail every single aspect of it :D I think a lot of that quest interconnectedness may be solved with Markarth release (coming fairly soon), since it will add the whole "main questline" of The Reach hold, spanning across wider area including old SHotN (no spoilers though!). As for the exteriors being repetitive - I think this may also be something looked at! PT/SHotN team currently investigate more the performance issues the mod has with relation to exteriors design, but if someone goes over exterior to improve its performance, you can be sure it will also get improvements in design. Especially as a lot of SHotN areas were made many years ago, when the mod didn't have as solid guidelines/quality principles as it has now. Greetings! ^^

@@tom_stephen Fantastic to hear there will be an update soon! I'm super hyped about it. Picking The Reach as a first region was definitely a good idea, because it's vibrant and diverse with all the factions taking play in it. As much as I love Tamriel Rebuilt, the real quality of that mod relies in most recent updates from last few years because they feel more alive, while older areas like Telvanni lands, Necrom and the East in general doesn't feel like finished regions (those regions are very old as well, I remember seeing Necrom for the first time in like 2006, 18 years ago - man, it makes you feel old). A lot of work has been put into making those landscapes from scratch, for making all the assets needed to build locations, but in the end, what makes or brakes those regions are quests, events and NPCs you meet along the way, this final stretch. :P Previous works needs to be appreciated, because without it there would be nothing to update/polish but from player's point of view, those last finishing touches make the biggest difference. It's always super cool so get a new topic you can speak on with NPCs you meet, to make a whole library of things being said in your journal, and then binge eat it all, giving you a good impression on the topic / location they are talking about. I would like to stress again how impressive seeing Dragonstar was for the first time - amazing atmosphere.
