Another Sask rider. Love the fact I can watch sask content. Makes watching videos fun when you can say "Hey, I know where that road is!" Questions about the road sofa. Did you purchase from Saddlemen direct? And does it sit you further back compaired to stock. I have a 2019 Springfield DH and want to upgrade seat. Wife has 2022 chief bobber DH and has Saddlemen on it. Fairly firm but surprisingly you get less sore? Not sure how that works yet lol 😆 and lastly does the rider back rest remove? Keep up the great work. See ya on the road

Hey there, Right on. Glad to see another 306'er here. 1) Did you purchase from Saddlemen direct? - Yes I ordered straight from Saddleman off their site. I put in the order and about a week later they started production on it. about 8 business days (not including weekends) they had it finished and took about 5 days or so to get to my place. So all in all I would say 3-4 weeks total and it was sitting in my office waiting to be installed haha. 2) Does it sit you further back compaired to stock? - It kept me in roughly the same spot as the stock seat (I have not noticed a difference in reach to the bars) other then it raised me up off the ground about 3/4 of an inch. 3) Fairly firm but surprisingly you get less sore? - The first 500-800km It was really really stiff. I was still getting sore but not as quickly. They say to giove it 1000-1500 km for it to be prettyy broken in. I am close to 2000km now and I can say it is not as stiff anymore but still firm if that makes sense. I have not done a long ride on it yet. Pretty much work and back and some riding around with my son when we go ride together. I have time off next week, so as long as I do not get a big "Hunny to do list" then I want to maybe take a day trip out to Regina and back or to Lloyd and back to see how it is for soreness. Stock seat I lasted 45 mins max then I was sore and needed to get off. I originally ordered a 2022 Chief DH but after reading how long everyone's wait time was, I walked into the dealership and they had the 21 Chieftain Limited sitting on the showroom floor and cancelled my order and got it instead. Wish they would have had this colour in a DH as I love the blacked out look but oh well :) 4) Does the rider back rest remove? - Yes it can be removed. The seat does not lock in place (that I have found anyways). There are the spots it will sit in (low, medium, high) and you can just pull it out. It can be adjusted forward a but as well and there is a screw you can adjust to keep itin the spot once you are happy with it. I was always riding with it in before as my back was not getting sore while using it. But I had to start working back on site so I took it off and left it in my garage so I do not have to sorry about it walking away. I am a short person as I said in the video 5' 5" with a 28" inseam and my legs are spread apart a bit. I got it due to the custom stitching, backrest, and heat. The other thing they do is they will make a sisy bar pad to match if you have one or the back badding on a tour pack to match (future upgrade of 1 of them I hope). I hope I answered your questions. If you have more fire away and I will try and answer it/them. Thanks for stopping by and watching.

Hey there, Yes I know I did not show myself physically putting it on the bike and I apologize for that. I had it laying on the side just like at 9:42 of the video, then hooked the wires up to the bike, zip-tied the wires to make it half-decently neat, then slid the seat back on. I screwed in the back bolt, just an FYI as well, with this seat you do not use the side bolts and it is very tight sliding it on the bike by the tank. Since we still have snow on the ground here, when it warms up a bit I am going to take the seat off and shorten the wires. They are just too long and take up a lot of room under the seat. Thanks for checking out the video and leaving a comment. I appreciate it.

@SaskRiderMoto
@SaskRiderMoto 11 месяцев назад
Thanks for checking out the video and leaving a comment. Overall I like it. The rain cover it came with did not fit due to how close the front part of the seat hugged the tank. It has broken in a bit but is still pretty firm. I can ride way longer than with the stock seat (which is a good thing). When it rains or you wash your bike, the seat holds some of the water. I assume that is the price you pay when you get a heated seat. Just sucks getting off the bike and it looks like I peed myself lol. 2 things I wish Saddleman did differently. Make the wires shorter and have the ability to lock the backrest in so someone can't walk by and grab it. Take care.

Hello. Can you easily put the sissybar with the new seat Road Sofa LS saddlemen ? Thank you for your answer. Sincerely.
@SaskRiderMoto
@SaskRiderMoto 7 месяцев назад
Hey there, From my understanding, you can, but you will need to change the bolts on the sissybar so the head of the bolt is flatter. This way, it does not wreck the material on the seat. Thanks for the question and for checking out the video.

Hello, thank you for your answer In fact I want to talk about the stock Indian sissy bar with the quick installation and removal system. Can you confirm that this seat is compatible with this sissy bar ? This Indian sissy bar does not have bolts but there is a bar which could bother... Thank you again for your help.

@@cyberta644 I looked at the site, and it does not give me any measurements so I can not give a definitive answer. Will it rub taking it off and putting it back on? Yes Will it rub while on and with no passengers? Possibly Will it rub with passengers on? I would think it would yes. Again these are all a guess as I do not have a sissy bar to test with. Thanks

The only way for it to be totally flat would have to add spacers to lift the back up and then spacers where the bolt screws in. That is my thoughts anyways, I could be wrong. Thanks for the comment and stopping by.

Thanks for checking out the video. From what I have seen on forums and such, it will, it will be a tight fit though. The other thing is the bolts that are on the inside of the sissy bar would need to be changed to a bolt with a flat head on them so it does not wreck the seat.

Hi. I like your Videos. I am from Sask but live in Alberta now. I have one Question for you. I have a 2019 Indian Chieftain DH and I got the ClimaCommand Syndicate Seat, and its not compatible with my bike and is not working right. So I was wondering if i can wire it up like you did? will it work?
@SaskRiderMoto
@SaskRiderMoto 10 месяцев назад
Hey there, Thanks for checking out the video. You should be able to. The only thing is that if there are more than 2 wires (for heat/cool function) you may have to put the 2 positives (heat/cold positive) together and the 2 negatives (heat/cold negatives) together in a 2-pin harness similar to what I did. As long as the heat and cool both have on/off switches. I do not see why you couldn't. I was looking at the seat, and it looks like the heat/cool has 2 switches (1 for the driver, and 1 for the passenger). They are separate wiring harnesses for the switches, but they both plug into a board. The board, in theory, should have just a positive and negative wire to supply power to the switches. I was looking at your bike does not work with the ride command. 2020+ can use the ride command to control the seats with an additional harness. I hope this helps you out. Stay safe.
@bikerbrass7533

@@SaskRiderMoto thanks for the help. If I got the additional harness do you think it would work with my bike or not?
@SaskRiderMoto
@SaskRiderMoto 10 месяцев назад
@@bikerbrass7533 Going by the install guide, as long as you get harness 2415036 it should give what you need to connect the seat without splicing it. Now I am only guessing at this as the tab that says designed for is 2023, 2016-2018 Chieftain Dark Horse. It skips 2019, but again the install guide says it will work with 2019 chieftain (shouldn't matter if DH or LTD). Let me know what you end up doing and how it works out. Cheers

@@SaskRiderMoto thanks I tryed that plug but I don't have the plug that matchs under my seat. So my next option is to hard wire in my own plugs in. I am just wondering what wire that you used to wire it to? If you have a picture or something
@SaskRiderMoto
@SaskRiderMoto 10 месяцев назад
@@bikerbrass7533 At 2:33, you can see the factory plug I removed. It is a little 2-pin harness. Then, if you go to 6:20, you will see the plug I connected to the factory wiring. I used a female plug on the bike side and a male plug on the seat side for connections. You can get pretty much any plug you want off of Amazon, just make sure that it is a weather-sealed male/female harness. The one I used is E-TING 5 Kit 2 Pin Way Car Waterproof Electrical Connector.

can you put an OEM sissy bar on it with a conflict with the width of the seat?
@SaskRiderMoto
@SaskRiderMoto 2 года назад
From my understanding you can. The only thing I heard about it is, it is a tight fit and you might have to change the bolts that will be contacting the passenger seat to a more flat head style bolt. Wish I could give you a forsure answer, but right now I do not have a sissy bar or tour pack (one of them will be an upgrade soon). Thanks for checking out the video.

Is this seat water resistant?
@SaskRiderMoto
@SaskRiderMoto 2 года назад
First off thanks for stopping by the channel and watching the video. I appreciate it. I have washed my bike 2 times since I have had the seat and both times I wiped off the top of the seat when drying the bike and when I get on, my pants do not get wet when sitting on it to pull into the garage. That being said I am not sure what it would do if you road in downpours for an extended period of time. The seat does come with a rain cover, but I found it useless as it will not hook under the front of the seat between the seat and tank so I have not used it. I looked on their site and they quoted this: Unlike most foam that has open holes at the surface, Saddlemen’s Profoam actually has an abrasion-resistant skin that resists water intrusion. This barrier is engineered to form during the molding process and protects the microcellular foam core from breaking down, which is common with many OEM and aftermarket seats. So I can't fully answer your question. I asked others before and most people tell me they just ride it and do not bother covering it up. I have not had this long enough to truly answer your question with a definite yes or no. Sorry. Thanks,

@SaskRiderMoto
@SaskRiderMoto Год назад
@@bobberboss Take what I say with a grain of salt, please. I am new to motorcycles. So maybe it is not as bad as I am making it out to be. There are people who buy Captain Itch (I think that's what it is called) to go under the seat and cover the rear cylinder due to heat and why others decat their headers to get more exhaust flowing and cool the engine a bit more. Then there are others that are fine with the heat and say it is not that noticeable. If I could go back and do it over again, I would probably choose the Challenger/Pursuit. More power in stock form and liquid-cooled so it is not as hot. At the time I was not overly fond of the looks of the Challenger when I got the Chieftain. The one thing I will say though is I love the sound of the Air Cooled loap when you get a different slip-on exhaust on it. On really warm days 25C-36C (77F-97F) I feel the heat coming through my seat. It is not super hot but makes me check to make sure the heated seat never got turned on somehow, that's how noticeable it is. Also depending on what way the crosswind is when riding around in the city, will depend on which inner thigh is getting warm. Overall I am happy with the Chieftain, but in hot weather in stop-and-go traffic, I turn the bike off at long lights or train crossings while my son just laughs and lets his liquid-cooled bike run at the lights. Thanks,
@bobberboss
