G'DAY, I'm LEANNE currently living fulltime in my DIY van that I converted and designed myself to totally live off grid as minimalistic as possible. Its now been 2 YEARS since I sold everything I owned, paid of my debts and used the rest to build out a van and to hit the road in August 2020 to begin the Nomadic Minimalistic Lifestyle I've always wanted. Now I'm DEBT FREE, Free camping (where possible) while working FIFO traveling around Western Australia and stealth camping in the city, sharing the journey of my experiences and the ups and downs along the way. "Pimple" my 2005 Mercedes Sprinter is the second van I converted on a tight budget, hoping to encourage others to live a more adventurist low cost life. Hoping to inspire others who doubt themselves and scared to make the change to take the plunge and live a life of their dreams on your terms.
The old Sprinters are notorious for leaking along the roof seams . Silicone needs to be applied on dry dust and grease free surfaces . Maxisila or Sika products are a million miles better than the cheaper products . The peace of mind gained is worth the extra $$$ .
$1700 at Bunnings? Yeah it's a lot. But. I pay $1115 per WEEK in rent in Sydney. Not including anything else. And you own everything you spend that money on. My money is down the rental drain. Gives you a healthy perspective, doesn't it? 😂 Love your work
Awesome video, stumbled upon it randomly and glad I did. Like your style of realistic vanlife storytelling, we don't have enough of those in Australia. I hope you're still living the simple life a lot of us wish we had, and would love to see an update video from you on the latest and greatest. How's the van going? Does finding parking become tedious where you are based? Stuff like that, wood be good to hear
I have a silicone pop-up kettle as well. (Have had for 2 or 3 yrs now) I really like it, but I plan on replacing w/stainless steel bc I'm not sure if silicone is the healthiest for heating water.

Fly in , fly out . Most mine sites are in mid to Northern WA and it's either a day or two drive or a 2 - 4 hour flight . So flying is easier , more relaxing and the mining company pays for the flights .
I’ve watched every one of your van build videos as I’m about to embark on the same mission. I just wanted to say I think you’re brilliant, beautiful and clever. Hey Leanne, I watched your video because of the title, living in a van, that’s what I’m doing only a caravan after a divorce two years ago, your wise words are comforting and I like the way you cook, I did fifo work for years and now I’ve lost my dream of retirement by the sea, house was sold hence I’m in the van, thanks for sharing your life with us.
A girlfriend look around for a a small truck,Isuzu with a box or pan,tech on it,life will look better,why walk around stand up,just more room,just because it a truck fuel can nearly the same as a van ,go diesel.
Just a tip.. Windex has chemicals that are designed to penetrate dirt and grime as well as bug guts. Silicone is for sealing so they shouldn't be used together.
