The only fair comparison would be that between the C2 and the RP3 rowing machines - nothing else comes even remotely close. Technogym is all about marketing gimmick. No quality there whatsoever.
How's it different from a Concept2 at a quadruple of the price of the latter? What does this do that the tried and tested Concept2 doesn't (supposedly)?
Very UNIMPRESSED with Technogym Skill Row compared to Concept 2D/PM5. The monitor on the machine is under whelming with 2 choices for SET UP, open or basic selection. Then comes the TGSR app which is supposed to enhance the machines PM, (what a load of bollocks). After 30 yrs of Concept 2 rowing the change to a TG machine @ x3 the cost proved to be BULL SHIT over reality. I have been auto recording my outings on C2's since 2009 with the PM3 card and PM5 USB. The results then transfer to my World Log at C2 thro my pc. The TG rower PM even with your mob app is like a poor 1993 PM2. Rowers want saved data not fancy gimmicky none retainable charts of single outings. Rowing is built on multi outing rows unlike weight training or bikes. My new Health Club is full of gimmicky TG machines but no body uses the ROWERS. TG need to look at C2 rowing products and uprate their offering if their £4K machine is to be preferred over a £1.2K C2D/PM5 World Beater.TG KISS

My first official 2K on a concept 2 erg was 7:51 in June. I’m 55 (5’ 9”187 lbs.) and even with low back/knee and hip issues I’m looking forward to breaking a 7:40 in about 3 1/2 weeks from now at Rowhouse in Parkland, Florida. This video was fantastic! I have the confidence to get it done!! 💪🏻
Setting the drag factor to X. Why? There is no reason given for setting the drag within the ranges given in the video. We are being offered voodoo or tradition and custom instead of evidence and rationality. A full and direct discussion on drag factor, power per stroke, and stroke rate would have been helpful in place of the mention that Cam used to row in the 30s and will be doing this piece at 28spm for the middle.
Dude this was very helpful! Thanks so much. I’ve started doing the rower as my cardio option for my military fitness test every year. These are some great nuggets to put to practice!
I'm going to row a marathon for my 62nd birthday in January. I've done an Ironman and several marathons . . I'll most likely break up into parts...concentrate on the first hour and nothing more..than second, third. I know I've got the physical capacity so it's just figuring out how to outsmart my brain.
do you have a base workout for seniors just starting out... say someone age 60 to 70 years old just starting out...in shape from walking but wanting to put something else in on some days instead on walking.. where/how would you start...thanks for your insight and thoughts...
What is the resistance (da,mper) for the machine when rowing 5K? I usually leave the leaver between 4-5 and I have been averaging 20'. I want to go below 20. Is this a factor?
