Thank you so much! Haha I’m a little ways off from doing a battle report with these guys BUT that is a goal for the future 😉. Which other Mordheim warband should they fight?
Step 1) talk softly so the viewer has to turn up their volume Step 2) smash cut to RAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH AHHHHHHHHH GROWLWLWLWLWLW Step 3) *EeeeeeeEeeeeEeeeee*
Thanks for the like and sub. Yes, Black Metal ist Krieg! 🤘🏻🤘🏻 Basing is something I do towards the end of a project as a separate step. You can see that the warband is based in Part 2 of the series. I shot enough footage for a basing guide but it’s a pretty basic scheme. Regardless, if you want to see that guide let me know!
Funny story, my friend collects skaven for fantasy and aos and hes a really good painter. I am a pretty decent pen on paper artist, combined we have freehanded over 67 minis including extra details, banners, pauldrons and decoration. You used the exact steps we do 😁
This series has been amazing!!! I just stumbled upon it and your channel by accident, and I couldn't be happier! I wanted to make a witch hunter warband, but this series has wholeheartedly convinced me to do the cult of the possessed instead! But yeah, excellent work on this series, and I cannot wait to see more of your work in the future!
Thank you so much for all the kind words! I’m really glad you enjoyed this series and found the channel (sorry to convert you to the will of Chaos haha). I’ll have more Mordheim content in the future…and the next warband featured will be ready to burn some witches! 👀😉
I'm late to the party but I'm guessing the dislikes are from Sigmarxism or Age of Sigmar at large. Learning the rules on the side since I discovered an autistically detailed table for the game in Table Top Simulator.
Welcome to the party! Ya I don’t care about the dislikes or their origin. This is a GrimDark Lore-driven channel run by an Inquisitor, not a place for the faint of heart 😉. On a lighter note, it sounds like you have a great playground for learning the rules. I wish you nothing but good fortune on your journey into the darkly wonder world of Mordheim!
Fantastic stuff! 👍👍 I was wondering if that footage at 3:27 of the grimdark Dark Angel is going to be a part of a larger tutorial or if it can be found on your patreon, I've been questing for a properly grungy scheme for my DAngels for ages and I'd love to see your take on it.
Thank you! So that model is for a future “5 Minutes Of Heresy” episode that I moved to the back burner unfortunately. HOWEVER, the next video I’m currently working on is all about GrimDark 40k Dark Angels! Patreon will be getting exclusive behind the scenes content on the modeling and painting process as well an advance release of said Dark Angels video before RU-vid. As a general note - I do not believe in paywalling any of my content, but the Patreon crew gets a more in-depth experience during the course of a project. I will eventually get back to the Heresy series but I’m really into warband building atm. Are you looking for Heresy Era Dark Angels specifically?
@@inquisitornero Cheers for replying, your stance on content is much appreciated and I'm very keen to see your 40k DA vid! And yes, I'm specifically after Heresy Angels. Thanks for the help!
Glad to hear you have a growing scene in Madison, that’s awesome. May your Beastmen Raiders reap the spoils of war and become infamous across the Badger State!
As someone who dipped their toes into freehanding last year, I have two tips for people new to the technique: 1) If you can, try painting your banners separately, before attaching them to the model. Depending on the sculpt and the banner material, it can be easier to just lay the banner flat and paint it that way. Rather than have parts of the model get in the way of painting. 2) You aren't obligated to start freehanding on the final piece. Practice the design (or designs) beforehand, before you commit. A good way to do this is by coating something like an index card with brush-on primer, then drawing lines on in the shape of the intended size of your "canvas". Then just paint it over and over, until you figure out your process or the final design. It's a lot more work up front, but it'll save you headaches on the "real" freehand later.
Ya the user name was changed slightly. Look up Bolterjugend on IG and you’ll find what you’re looking for. I won’t give out direct links out to STLs, but I can point you in the right direction.
A trick for free hands is to do the freehand on a computer to start with, and then print it to paper using a 600 dpi laser printer. Using tracing paper you can then transfer the outline quickly and repeatably to a primed foil banner or whatever you're using.
Check your rgb scale. Yellow is a very thin line on the spectrum thats why it so hard to paint. Plus all good yellow pigments were toxic until few years ago when cadmium free shit hit the market. Finally the starter set for the GW model paint usually sold to 2000+ gen had the crappiest yellow know to man (aka old formula avarland sunset)
You make some good points as to why yellow has historically been crappy to paint (the RGB scale is good color theory information -- something I should talk about in a future release). I'm just saying that I've never had an issue with yellow if you start from setting up a good zenithal highlight, which I don't think a lot of people take the time to do. I never used the old avarland sunset formula but it's a citadel paint so I can imagine it wasn't great.
Pretty nice channel you have. Mordheim popularity is great but my true love is Path to Glory. Imo the cult of the possessed dont have the same impact as a chaos champion and his warband. Btw you were on point mordheim is indeed used a lot ij invete only events specially in east europe.
Thank you! Glad my little realm has peaked your interest. Path of Glory is a great game, but comparing it Mordheim is like comparing apples to oranges. They are two completely different animals. Both have their merits, but both are completely different in just about everything else. Maybe I'll do a Path of Glory series down the line. I do love me some old school chaos vibes!
Glad you like the series, and yes I definitely will be continuing it! The next faction will definitely be Witch Hunters. However, I do intend to explore some of the community created factions from Broheim.net.
That's what I like to see! Need to do one of my own down the line, though I can never settle on a design so I mostly end up doing just some basic shapes and heraldry
You totally should! It also sounds like you have a head start having already done basic shapes / designs. Even if the model isn’t for anything in particular like an army or warband, give it a go anyway! You’ll grow your skill and have a cool miniature to show off.
Thank you so much! I’m glad you liked the end result. Haha I’m still a beginner but I’m working on expanding my skill set. Doing a project based off medieval “woodcut” art I think is a great beginner level course for those getting into freehanding. Anyway, thank you again for the kind words 🤘🏻🤘🏻
I will say GW has done a pretty good job on the undead. I got the majority of my Undead, witch hunters, and mercenaries from the cursed city board game. They all had an extreme grimdark look to them. The soulblight gravelords fr9m AOS are also gleaming with grimdarkness, but other than them, the pickings are slim for outright buying models with the grimdark esthetic. Also, none related, but I am using models from the bloodborne board game for my other, which hunters and mercenaries, they look amazing and grimdark.
Agreed - I actually have some GW witch hunters on the way to my hobby desk 😉. The good thing is, that for the in-game units that don’t have a great GW official plastic counter parts you can supplement that problem with creative kitbashing, 3D printing, or third party sculpts and get beautiful results much like I did (note I didn’t need to 3D print anything for this particular project). I actually think that Mordheim is unique in that it encourages you to exercise your creativity, and pushes you to create unique warbands through kitbashing (be it official parts or otherwise). I like that about the current state of the game. I would note that the lack of GrimDarkness in a lot of the newer GW models is not just a design issue but a paint job issue as well. Some models have a great low fantasy design that are then ruined by the Eavy Metal paint style.
Sorry for the random question but do you have something around the paint brush to make the handle thicker? It looks great to hold for someone like me with hands that hurt when holding tiny brushes. Thanks and great work!
Don't be sorry 😉....I don't have anything on the handle of the brushes -- it's just the natural structure of the brush itself. The brushes in the new kit I showed off (don't know the name of them -- it was a gift) have a "fat grip" where the gage of the brush size is printed. It totally makes it more comfortable to use. I'll try and figure out where they came from and see if there is a link I can post.
I'm pausing the video before even starting just to say I'm glad you posted part 2. I just discovered your channel last week and was dying to know how you would paint this kitbash lol Subscribed!
@@inquisitornero Finished the video! Great work man! Hope you can figure out a way to post consistently without compromising video's quality (wich is world class).
@@FelipeEdit10 Glad you enjoyed it! Ya that is the eternal struggle, but I'm going to try some different things out on my end to see if I can improve workflow. Already editing the next video!
