A spoken word repository of myth, folklore and story.

Carrying traditional tales, tricks and treasures of oral human culture from across the world; from the dawn of time to the Dreamtime.

I am a storyteller, folklorist and Mythologist of Anglo-Irish heritage.

I mainly tell traditional folklore stories and legends, with a focus on Celtic material.

I also post educational and informative videos about various gods and mythologies as well as tree and plant lore, magic and the Old Ways of our Northern ancestors, as well as some more left field metaphysical topics.

Staying true to your commitments and promises even in the face of prosecution. Power of discipline- a vow of silence for so many years... this is what stands out for me in this story. Also the interesting fact of being devoted to the family you are coming from rather than family you are creating with the partner etc. Seems strange to me she let children be taken from her, but it may be the power of staying in her resolve, maybe staying true to herself- her identity as a princess and sister, loyalty to her own kingdom... Fascinating, multi-layered tale, thanks! You are a great bard! 🌼🦢

My father was killed in a violent accident at work when I was a baby so I never new him. When I was 8yrs old my family was going through a very unpleasant and traumatic period involving my step father. at this time my father appeared to me in a vision at school one day, very clear and smiling at me. I'd only ever seen black and white photos of him so didn;t immediately realise who this copper red haired young man in a blue boiler suit was until I told my Mum. Since that day, my Dad has been with me. Whenever I call upon him for help or just a chat, he's always been there. I;ve never seen him again but always feel his presence, even now! I do believe in reincarnation, but since our spirit lives on and we never actually 'die' I think each life leaves an echo which is connected like a thread to all of our selves through time .

I'm glad to have had the algorithm suggest your channel as I find these things fascinating. I've seen and felt many things that would pale many a normal person, seen spirits of things that were or have never been, and even seen what lies beyond. The most magnificent I have seen were dragons though, truly majestic beings; wonderous to behold. But what I have learned in my years in this form is that not everything that is can be observed easily, particularly with the eyes, the eyes are deceptive. As with all our senses we are limited, unless of course we help our little brains along or go mad; both work to see beyond.

First of all I just want to say that I LOVE what you're doing here. From the historical components to the spiritual and everything in between. I am on my own quest to learn and apply ancient wisdom from stories and other shamanic avenues. I am reading this book by Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Ph.D. called "Women Who Run With the Wolves" wherein she tells folkloric stories that connect her readers to the Wild Woman Archetype. It is so fascinating to me how many of your stories overlap with those in this book. There is one short yet very comical story in this book about Coyote. It is not entirely "appropriate" but would make for an excellent video, imo. It's called "Coyote Dick", starting on page 369, tho reading the whole chapter that contains it (and definitely the section dedicated to it) gives the story even more depth. At the very least, it's worth checking out. At the most, maybe we will see a video about it. Either way, I look forward to more of your videos. Take care!

Egil is still a strong Icelandic name. The G is seldom pronounced in Icelandic. The L in Egil is pronounced like the double L of Welsh (with a soft click). So Ei-ilck.

There's a colony of gnomes that frequent north Florida, near to and on the banks of the Suwannee river, at a place called The Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park. The place hosts music festivals, several each year, and they are an experience that is hard to describe. You can go and stay on the outside, hear the music and see the crowd, smell the campfires, but there's also a threshold you came enter through if you can let go. There's a powerful energy to the place that magnifies and reflects the energy you bring. It can be an amazingly beautiful place that you'll never want to leave and will forever find your way back to, or it can be horrifyingly traumatic. It's really up to you. I married my wife there, in front of that ancient river and it's children the live oaks. If you ever make it to this side of the pond you would be most welcome there.

I like your rowan description. I asked for a piece of rowan and made a lovely little stick with the ogham symbol marked into it with a soldering iron. I treasure it. A thought came over me today to ask for other tree bits, I always carry a Swiss Army Knife with a delicious saw and also the humility to ask for cuttings from trees. I live very close to a large woods where I've seen all sorts of lovely trees, in sodden Lincolnshire.

The weird thing is. once on a psilocybin trip when i meditated and quieted my mind I heard a voice in my head saying eat.... Eat air... I laughed and started breathing the way it wanted and before you know it I felt my body get tingly and very light like I was floating, then next thing I knew I was in a place in my head slowly going down beneath the ground and I could see the dirt and root systems going throughout the soil but to my left looked like bark and the trunk of a big tree that kept going down all the way to the bottom. And there was a horned man meditating at the base of a tree. Eyes were just white and he was in the shadows so hard to see much. But just thought I would share that. It felt kind of earie and it was dark, I felt scared but kind of welcomed.

oddly enough, there seems to be a lot of crossover among many, if not all pre-Christian European cultures; which makes me curious about tracing their origin point and time, or as close to it as possible. I just found your channel and look forward to seeing if you have anything that can help in that regard. What I find most interesting is that there seems to be some kind of clear break from the more middle eastern and definitely African concepts of Gods, i.e., not being Thunder based.
