I compared your stuff to mine and looks like we have the same opinion. Great guide! 10/10 would recommend. Also stay clear of Ritchie. That guy is kinda sus.
@@RyveGenesis Thank you - my eyes must have ignored the first link because I looked through the description twice and was puzzled by the "lack of a link" since you usually give comprehensive references! Mystery solved now!
Everything indicates the same result as Camelot Unchained. You'll see this company develop some side funding project when donation money dries up and then people will be waiting another 5 years when it goes into a "true beta". They have all the same issues where they develop an MMO with a scope of a student game designer, too big for a realistically to ever deliver.
Yes finally someone saying the truth I just logout from it and I have the same opinnion from playing just few hours its pretty much as you said it at the moment, they have a long journey ahead of them I hope they have the rrs to do that.
I think this is rather unnecessarily pessimistic framing, though I do acknowledge that it's fair feedback about the sentiment of an ambitious tester. 1) Server meshing is an ambitious technology that requires a lot of finetuning, especially if they want to reach a sustainable solution that genuinely handles the whole game efficiently at the end. They could just throw money at it and host every little region on its own server realm the server realm, but that wouldn't solve the problem for launch, it would just give them better publicity faster. So to me it sounds completely expected and not a sign of delays at all that they did things like greyboxing while doing server tests. To me it sounds they're dedicating this time to exactly what they scheduled to dedicate it to: Applying the server meshing technology and making it perform on the internet as expected. 2) Levelling speed: I think it's great that there aren't too many events; I hate when there's constant distraction from what I want to be doing, and all the players all pulled all around the world with busywork. It keeps people from meeting in the wild doing their own thing, and grouping up with their own goals. What currently feels like empty space where nothing is happening will be filled with more quests, more dungeons, caravans, world bosses and PvP. It's good if things like commissions, artisanships, and overland farming feel slow, and events are rare, so those other things can still feel more rewarding, once the game is complete. 3) If financing is a problem, wouldn't there always be a publisher to buy the game? There's barely any game that has this much hype, and does so much to appeal to the market of at least all PvP MMO gamers. I doubt there wouldn't be a single buyer that would fund the release (without adding P2W or killing the node system.)
Ryve my man. One cursory glance at any MMO forum or reddit site would have shown you there are way more of us questioning the lack of progress. Hate to break it to you and I don't want to label you but when you white knight, fanboy, and live in an echo chamber of toxic positivity you'll never fully grasp the questioning and apparent question thats been raised.
@@RyveGenesis As I stated I wasn't trying to label you or anyone who has been promoting this game but I feel you missed the point of my argument. Blinded by hopes/wishes and quick to dismiss any conflicting viewpoint. If the entire fanbase or followers of this title would have been more critical every step along the way the game would be in a more polished and better place.
As a AoC KS backer myself, I think this is an incredible video. Your honesty and criticism from your own experiences are delivered so much better than how Narc did it. Thank you
Hey, finally some honest feedback on the current state of development! Many content creators should take off their rose-tinted glasses! Thanks a lot for the detailed summary and your honest thoughts! I've been following Ashes of Creation since the Kickstarter in 2017 and participated in almost all tests. Back in 2018, I met Steven, Jeff, and two other Intrepid members at Gamescom. Their vision and friendly demeanor convinced me to support the game both financially and through feedback. I feel similarly about many of the points you've raised. My main concern really revolves around the long development time so far. I'm not trying to criticize everything that has been done - it's just that, after such a long time, I (like many others) expected more progress. The graphics feel pretty average to me, even though I understand that visuals are not the current focus. I find it difficult to understand why so many are already praising them, but maybe it's just my bias from working extensively with Unreal Engine, which might make the visuals feel less impressive to me. On top of that, I also find the combat system lacking, though I realize this is subjective. I've mainly played the Cleric, and compared to other MMORPGs, it simply doesn't feel enjoyable to me so far. What bothers me most is the lack of criticism within the community. It often feels like any critical voice is immediately shut down with "Wait until the game is finished" or "This is still an Alpha," which seems to be used to justify absolutely EVERYTHING - but at some point, we should be able to say that the current state is simply not good enough, especially after the long development time so far. In my opinion, lifting the NDA happened too early and has exposed a lot of weaknesses that are now visible to everyone. This doesn't just "fuel negative opinions" - it actually confirms many of the fears that players have had for years. Meanwhile, on RU-vid and in the forums, the current state of development is being hyped up so much that I can't help but wonder if they watched the same videos or participated in the same tests as I did. I still hope that the project will be a success - I've been following Ashes for too long to give up now. But right now, it all feels very unfinished, and without clear improvements, especially regarding the servers and overall stability, I'm worried that the development won't be completed anytime soon. I suspect that the game will be in development for at least another 4 years, probably even longer. Of course, this is just my personal opinion, and I understand others may see things differently. 😊
Ever thought that the game isn’t about levelling? Especially if it takes a lot to level up… just level up organically. Take it as a nice surprised when you go up a level.
@@RyveGenesis fair enough. I just don’t want the game to become a chore. Certainly hope you don’t get evicted from nodes for not levelling quick enough. My hope is that it is a role play game not a competition.
This a “master looter” game, so if you think you’re going to get those high end mats to craft the best, think again, unless you are the raid lead or guild master.
Said this before I watched you make the same point. They need a publisher, I know they’ve turned it down in the past but otherwise this won’t finish. We’ll be in Alpha till the money runs out.
Actually sad how you need to defend yourself for 10 minutes after communicating some doubts about the project. The studio developed towards a really bad feedback culture where doubt is censored or simplified as hate.
Really wondering how they can finanze the project for so long. I am not a big believer tbh. Even if they succesfully lauch many people wont like the game and the sub model that comes with it.
I was VERY surprised at how unflushed out everything was. Nothing was working, and as they fix things they still aren't great. How is it possible to be this bad after so long? The beginning area should be incredibly flushed out and engaging, but it is nothing. It should be a 3-5 hour starting area to lvl 8-10, and then quests that send you out to the neighboring nodes.
@@Touchin-Grass then do them. But I don't think it will. Commissions were never meant to be great XP. They are meant to take you into the world to find side quests and events. The problem is there aren't many side quests and they also don't give good XP usually. Events do, but they are usually broken
I was kind of expecting it, but still a bit disappointed. They will probably have to find a minimum viable product and work towards that, maybe launch with just the left continent, or something.
