It is possible that the Russians will be able to approach Kramatorsk from two directions. 40km due north from their positions north of Avdeekva. 35km due east from their position east of Siversk. A year ago an advance like that would have been very difficult and slow. Things are speeding up though. Slavyansk and Kramatorsk were not defensible during 2014 when Poroshenko sent the UKR army into Donbas. The DPR forces retreated to Donetsk. The DPR's mix of local militia and mercs were not enough to hold a line including those two towns. The much shorter line from Donetsk to Lugansk required less forces. It proved a correct decision, because UKR nearly broke through that shortened line until defeated at Debaltsevo and Ilovaisk. UKR defending Kramatorsk and Slavyansk is a different proposition though. The logistic routes are different and they have more troops. But if those logistics are compromised it could change. What's more, UKR does not have enough troops to properly man the entire line of contact that's over 1000km, but Russia now does. The towns could become indefensible again. It depends. UKR may pour what they have left into the towns trying to hold them at all costs. Unless UKR has Clone Wars tech, that will just thin out their troop numbers out even more, which will create more gaps that Russia will advance through. UKR is kaput.
